This hotel is very well located in central Granada - minutes from the central shopping area. A taxi to the Alhamabra cost no more than £3 sterling. It is a comfortable but undistinguished hotel. It claims to be 4 star but it had no facilities such as gym/sauna/swimming pool. Breakfast was a run of the mill buffet. The restaurant was dreadful. However the reception staff were fantastic. During our stay my wife tore a ligament in her ankle- and they were helpful to an extreme - an English doctor arrived within 10 minutes of requesting one.
We booked through Otel.com and had an excellent deal. Essentially a no frills 3 star with no character but functional

Date 17th November
Had a weekend away in Granada, have stayed in the Melia Granada before, last year. Yet again this hotel was excellent, great location, good value and superb breakfast. Travelled by Ryan Air, got the bus from the airport to the centre of which the hotels 50 yards away. The bus costs 3 euros each and is waiting for you when you get off the plane. The bars and Tapas are great, ask at reception about Restraunts just round the corner. The weather was warm but cool in the evening. I would recommend this hotel any time and I will be going back to stay.

We normally do not stay at modern or chain hotels...however, in this case I made an exception based on the location and the convenience of parking at the hotel. Our room was very nice and clean, with a view of the Alhambra. The food was good, with a great selection, and the staff was helpful. The best part was the location. We were able to walk to everything, although the walk up to the Moorish side of the city convinced us to take the bus to the Alhambra...good choice on a hot day (see pic after decent to Plaza below). Our room rate was so attractive, that we were able to tolerate the high parking fees for the car (standard for city hotels everywhere). Since we had such a good experience with this stay, we joined the Melia club, and have found that they offer good deals throughout the world.

  • Liked — Central location with easy parking
  • Disliked — no complaints
  • Tips/Secrets: — don't bother going to the Restaurants up in the Moorish section...the are charming with good views, but only so so food.

Visiting Granada for the first time, and having read the reviews on this website, our decision to stay at this hotel was based on the location - and we were not disappointed. The Melia Granada is ideally situated for sightseeing, shopping, restaurants and tapas bars, all within easy walking distance.

Spacious and comfortable bedroom, with large bathroom; however, on the negative side, as mentioned in some previous reviews, the soundproofing (particularly between bathrooms) is non-existient!

The price we paid (about 260 euros for 2 nights) included buffet breakfast and a guided tour of the Alhambra. There was a good choice available at the buffet breakfast, although we found it did not live up to the standard of other Sol Melia hotels we've stayed in. The guided tour started at 9.30 am from the hotel, being picked up from reception and driven by bus to the Alhambra; a very thorough and detailed guide of the palaces and gardens (actually a little too detailed for us!); and bus back to the hotel by about 2.30 pm. Be warned - queuing is inevitable, even if you are on a tour!

Parking at the hotel is not cheap (17 euros per night); however, there are hotel signs as you enter Granada and the hotel is relatively easy to find. It was quite a luxury to hand in our keys at reception and have the car garaged for us until the end of our stay, when it was brought to the front of the hotel for us to begin our return journey - well worth the fee charged. We found all the staff to be helpful and polite during our stay.

We awarded this hotel 3 stars - on the whole, we enjoyed staying at the hotel, but the lack of sound-proofing and the buffet breakfast fell below the standard of other Melia hotels. A recent review on this site refers to a health club and swimming pool - I particularly asked at reception about the availability of a pool and/or terrace, and was informed that neither were available. As the weather was so very hot and sunny, this was somewhat disappointing.

We were really impressed with Granada itself; there are many restaurants and wonderful tapas bars to choose from, we found people friendly and helpful and we will definitely return. We would certainly want to stay in a similar location, but would probably try an alternative hotel next time.

Awesome 4 star facilities for a 2/3 star price.(or were we lucky to get the price of 70 Euros plus tax?) Great hotel stay, excellent breakfast buffet with the works (It was out of this world with an area dedicated to fruits and pastries). Spacious room with attached bath with good finishes, large single beds, air conditioning, TV, minibar, quality bathroom accessories, health club & swimming pool.

The Granada Airport bus drops you a few steps away from the hotel. Superb location, 10 minute walk to the Granada Cathedral and Al Hambra bus stop. Friendly and efficient staff at the reception. The air conditioning in our room wasn’t very good but satisfactory but we did have an option of complaining and getting it rectified but opted not to as we were there for only 1 night.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay and would happily recommend the hotel to fellow travelers.
