Visiting Granada for the first time, and having read the reviews on this website, our decision to stay at this hotel was based on the location - and we were not disappointed. The Melia Granada is ideally situated for sightseeing, shopping, restaurants and tapas bars, all within easy walking distance.

Spacious and comfortable bedroom, with large bathroom; however, on the negative side, as mentioned in some previous reviews, the soundproofing (particularly between bathrooms) is non-existient!

The price we paid (about 260 euros for 2 nights) included buffet breakfast and a guided tour of the Alhambra. There was a good choice available at the buffet breakfast, although we found it did not live up to the standard of other Sol Melia hotels we've stayed in. The guided tour started at 9.30 am from the hotel, being picked up from reception and driven by bus to the Alhambra; a very thorough and detailed guide of the palaces and gardens (actually a little too detailed for us!); and bus back to the hotel by about 2.30 pm. Be warned - queuing is inevitable, even if you are on a tour!

Parking at the hotel is not cheap (17 euros per night); however, there are hotel signs as you enter Granada and the hotel is relatively easy to find. It was quite a luxury to hand in our keys at reception and have the car garaged for us until the end of our stay, when it was brought to the front of the hotel for us to begin our return journey - well worth the fee charged. We found all the staff to be helpful and polite during our stay.

We awarded this hotel 3 stars - on the whole, we enjoyed staying at the hotel, but the lack of sound-proofing and the buffet breakfast fell below the standard of other Melia hotels. A recent review on this site refers to a health club and swimming pool - I particularly asked at reception about the availability of a pool and/or terrace, and was informed that neither were available. As the weather was so very hot and sunny, this was somewhat disappointing.

We were really impressed with Granada itself; there are many restaurants and wonderful tapas bars to choose from, we found people friendly and helpful and we will definitely return. We would certainly want to stay in a similar location, but would probably try an alternative hotel next time.

Awesome 4 star facilities for a 2/3 star price.(or were we lucky to get the price of 70 Euros plus tax?) Great hotel stay, excellent breakfast buffet with the works (It was out of this world with an area dedicated to fruits and pastries). Spacious room with attached bath with good finishes, large single beds, air conditioning, TV, minibar, quality bathroom accessories, health club & swimming pool.

The Granada Airport bus drops you a few steps away from the hotel. Superb location, 10 minute walk to the Granada Cathedral and Al Hambra bus stop. Friendly and efficient staff at the reception. The air conditioning in our room wasn’t very good but satisfactory but we did have an option of complaining and getting it rectified but opted not to as we were there for only 1 night.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay and would happily recommend the hotel to fellow travelers.

Just returned from 3 night stay at melia Granada- this hotel was fantastic value. We were lucky and got a corner room which seemed to have a little extra space (441 if that helps anyone) The location is great, walking distance for airport bus (3euros stop= puerta real) Cathedral, tour bus stops etc. Get a MAS card (free on melia website) and get the 2 for 1 deal on breakfast- this makes it great value , cheaper than booking with room in our case. Also if you have a card and make a booking on the hotel website they only take the money when you actually stay- not in advance. Yes it is a little dated but everything worked, the room was spotless and the staff friendly and efficient. We paid 53 euro per night, this really was a bargain.

This is not a modern hotel. the rooms are not too exciting. The colors are a bit outdated, BUT you cannot beat the price and location. When in Granada you must visit the Al Hambra (tickets provided by the hotel) and the Gypsy tour and Flamenco dances in the gypsy caves (tickets in the hotel). The breakfasr buffet is great. When looking into hotels in Granada, remember that the Melia may not be the fanciest or the prettiest, but the location is amazing

Great location; in old Granada near Plaza Nueva. Minutes (not walking) from Alhambra. BTW, recommend using guided tour (hotel can arrange). Limited tickets and VERY long lines otherwise--they sell out early.
Our room had two single beds pushed together rather than queen/king. Small TV (not that you need one). Staff very helpful, no consierge.
