My mom and I stayed in the Melia when she came to visit me in Granada (I was studying abroad for about 5 months). I can honestly say the Melia was a much more luxurious and comfortable hotel than the Hotel Carmen, which my dad stayed at in April. The room was substantially larger, with a big bathroom and a good shower... the only thing is you can hear your neighbor through the bathroom walls as if there was no wall! The beds were also pretty comfortable, compared to some others we had throughout Spain.

The location of the Melia is amazing from my experience, as it is close to most of Granada's sight-seeing activities and the shopping center of downtown. It is also surrounded on 3 sides by cute restaurants and outdoor cafes, which we both really enjoyed. Also it is located on a quiet street, as opposed to Hotel Carmen on a busy one. The room was a little hot, but we just opened the window at night and that was fine.

Definitely worth the money to stay here, and you can't beat the location. I would skip the expensive breakfast buffet and walk across the street to the right and ask for "una tostada y cafe con leche" and for about 4 euros you can have a baguette with jelly and an amazing coffee.

We really liked our stay at the Melia. Good sized rooms, great bathrooms, really comfortable beds. Make sure you sign up for the Melia card for your free breakfast (make sure every guest gets their own card). The website says guests stay free, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I would highly recommend the hotel for comfort. You need to either drive (they have 17Euro valet parking) to the Al Hambra, or take public transportation. There are a ton of little cafe's less than a 3 min walk away. Very helpful, patient, English speaking staff.

A 4-star hotel in the centre of Granada, convenient for tourist sites, restaurants and loads of shops.

Our room was smaller than you would expect in this class of hotel, but very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is good, served in the elegant restaurant, and the lunch we had there was very good in terms of quality and value for money. The staff are polite and friendly, and they take trouble to make you feel welcome. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely hotel - really luxurious 4 star. Rooms are comfortable, well-equipped with loads of tv channels and the bathroom is quite large for a European hotel room.
Would definitely go back to these chains! We got our double room for about EUR80 per night including tax as a special on their site [--]. It's a bargain considering we stayed at alot of other hotels around Spain for EUR10 less and they had no phone & no tv nor were they as luxurious.

Just got back from a short stay at this hotel this past weekend. Granada is great and this hotel is clean and centrally located, but stay elsewhere if you are looking for good service or a good nights rest.

I dont want to be too bad on the hotel, but for 100 pounds a night I would expect a room where the walls where thick enough that I could not make out every word in the next room. But the person in the next room was speaking Spanish so I could not understand them....so I guess they kept some privacy!
