Coach from aiport to central Granada great and costs 3 euro's each unlike taxi which costs approx 20 euro's. Takes 20 mins. Arrived at Melia Hotel, Granada. Room was a good size and very clean. Bathroom was a little dissappointing and appeared as though it needed updating. Although the usuall toiletries were available.

Our view was of a brick wall however, we didn't mind this as the time spent in the room was to rest or sleep.

Aircon was a nuisance. Room was far too hot. The only way to regulate room temp was to turn it off and open window which did get a bit chilly during the night. We should have contacted reception but didn't so shouldn't moan too much.

Read reviews of hotel hence choosing to stay here and reviews suggest great breakfast. We would disagree. If you enjoy undercooked fried eggs and bacon stips, cold mushrooms (still in process of defrosting) plus a wide choice of spanish blood sausages together with tinned fruits rather than fresh then you may enjoy it. However, saying all this, overall it wasn't by any means bad. The waitresses seemed very pleasant and helfull especially with our 11 month old baby. The highchair was clean and were very accommodating regarding boiled water for baby's bottles.

The hotel is in a great location in the midst of it all and within reasonable walking distance to all attractions.

Public transport is very good and makes it easy to get around. The small buses cost very little therefore if short on a few penny's there's no need to use the sightseeing bus.

As we had a baby our choice of restaurants was restricted. All cafe's, bars and restaurants allowed smoking. Unfortunately we resorted to takeaways during all 3 nights because of this. In the day it's not so bad as you are able to sit outside but it was a little cold at this time of year.

Overall, the hotel was reasonable. Good for the money. May stay there again if decided to go to Granada.

Stayed one night having booked through Lastminute. We'd been touring around Andalucia. From the minute we arrived, early evening, to when we left, the following evening, the hotel could not have been more helpful. The worst bit was finding our way by car to the hotel but that's probably just me! When we left it seemed very straight forward. They parked our car for us (not cheap but worth it) as you don't need a car in Granada. Room was large, quiet, very comfortable with a good bathroom. We didn't eat in but restaurant looked good. As our flight didn't leave until 21.30 we were able to leave our bags in their secure luggage room all day and the car was brought round for us in the evening. All staff were very helpful and pleasant and many spoke english. Would certainly stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed two days on October at Melia Granada and I highly recommend it.
The location is great, close to everything. There are plenty of nice shops and restaurants (there´s an excellent pizzeria in the corner) and it´s few blocks from lovely El Realejo quarter.
The staff is very efficient and friendliness.
They booked for us a guided visit to the Alhambra that was worth its high price. The guide was extraordinary and we loved to see this outstanding place while hearing his explanations.
Our room was a standard one and it was quite little but cozy and very clean, as well as the nice and confortable bathroom.
Though it was facing the street, it was a super silent room.
As I have Melia Card, we had 2x1 excellent buffet breaksfast, with very polite staff there.
The only thing we missed was free business center, as other Melia hotels have.
If I return to this wonderful, magical and lovely city, that´s for sure I´ll go to Melia Granada.

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Granada and it was the perfect gateway to the sights and restaurants of Granada. Getting there was easy-we did not want the hassle of a hired car so we took the bus(dead cheap)outside Malaga airport to the bus station and a bus (luxury coach) to Granada and taxi straight to the hotel.
The room we were given did not have a view(concrete wall)but then not all rooms can have a view and as it was comfortable we went through the first night. However the staff were ever so accommodating the next day that they offered us a selection of rooms to move to. We selected one with a view of the Alhambra in the faraway distance. Below us we looked into a square which led us us to a very good choice of restaurants.
We had breakfast in the open air sitting outside cafes - lovely cofee and toast while watching the world go by slowly.
We did walk the rather steep climb to the Alhambra only to find an endless queue for tickets which we did not quite fancy joining. The next day we went back early by bus and this time got our tickets easily; we had a most wonderful day wandering in awe at the stunnningly beautiful palace and the equally inspiring gardens.
Room service was excellent and we did have our fair share of cups of tea and cofee as well as a delicious helping of cured ham on toast!
Th added bonus was the free internet service in the bedroom with my laptop. The hotel kindly provided an adaptor and cable.
The bar/coffee lounge was our favourite stop for a cofee or beer.
From the hotel all the restaurants and sights were within a short walk so it was really convenient. The room was very comfortable and the decor was pleasant.
A special mention must go to Miguel Sanchez who was always at hand to help make our stay perfect and we would definitely visit again!

My family (husband, boy & girl twins, aged 15) arrived at the Melia Granada somewhat tired from an early train from Seville. As soon as our taxis pulled up at the front of the Melia, we knew we could relax...everything was taken care of courteously and promptly, including luggage, the check-in to our two rooms, a quick light snack to hold us 'til dinner, etc. This is 4-star rated hotel that acts like a 5-star in its treatment of guests and the condition and upkeep of its property. Although part of a large hotel chain, the staff and setting made it feel more like a boutique property: comfortable, elegant, though not large lobby and lounge; well-appointed dining room, etc.
That first night we asked the desk, which doubled as conciege service, for a moderate restaurant recommendation. Miguel, who manned the desk uring the afternoon and evening hours (along with enough staff to serve everyone), immediately suggested Restaurant Tomas, high in the Albaicin with stunning views. Although it was last minute on Saturday night, Miguel got us great reservations at a table on the terrace looking straight at the lit-up Alhambra. It was by far the most memorable of our dining experiences during our 2 weeks in Spain, and was extremely reasonable for that type of restaurant: for the 4 of us the bill was about 100 euros, including wine for my husband and me, and an apperitif "on the house" after dinner.
To get back to the Melia itself, on the Sol Melia website we got the ridiculous rate of 50 Euros per room per night, and that included the very complete breakfast buffet (this was during low-season, August 2005). The rooms were not large but were impeccably appointed, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were also not large, but were beautiful marble throughout. At double the price this hotel would have been a great value. THough not located in the Albaicin, it was close enough to walk to numerous restaurants, cafes, and the tourist bus that goes around Granada and up through the Albaicin. The staff outdid themselves to help us with our various tourist needs during our 2-day stay. They even helped us pack a breakfast (Miguel had requested it for us the night before) when we departed early for our train to Madrid.
If you don't mind missing all the quaintness & charm of an "authentic" old-world hotel, the Melia should be your first choice. Though we did stay at other 4 (and two 5-star) hotels, this was overall the best value of our trip.
