We stayed at the Hotel Saray for two nights with two small children (2 and 6 years old). We used to hotel to visit the Alhambra (get your tickets via the Internet in advance) and downtown Granada. The hotel is located somewhat away from the central downtown of Granada and has newly furnished rooms in a modern style. It has a nice entrance, glass elevators, and a large pool.
Getting to the hotel was relatively straightforward, following the in-car GPS. The hotel does have parking for an extra fee but we opted to find free street parking. It is not plentiful but is possible to find if you circle around a few times. It is about a twenty minute walk to the usual tourist sites of downtown Granada. Don't bother trying to drive there from the hotel- it will take at least that long just to navigate the streets, get in to a parking garage, and find parking (not to mention the cost of the parking garage).
We booked a triple room. The room was of good size with plenty of extra space for the extra bed. The amenities were all of the quality that one would expect in this caliber hotel.
Our room did not include breakfast - we opted to buy some food at the nearby market. There are several restaurants within walking distances, notably Raices a very nice vegetarian restaurant. There is also a fabulous ice cream shop near Av Pablo Picasso. Forgot the name but they had very nice homemade tasting ice cream and large cones. They also had a variety of ice cream sundays.
The pool in the hotel really matches the pictures. The water is not incredibly warm (even in July) but it is refreshing. At its shallowest the pool is about 1 meter deep, making it not as suitable for kids as I would have liked. There was a bar next to the pool where you could get drinks and some snacks, though the bar closed a bit early. We had no problems getting towels or a chair.
Internet is free but be sure to get the WiFi (pronounced WeeFee here) password when you check in to avoid the line.
There were only a few minor issues with the hotel. The checkin was painfully slow. The staff seemed friendly but were taking their time. There was no help with luggage either when we arrived nor when we departed. The hallways smell a little damp but the room was clean. The rooms could use a little more shelf storage to put things out of reach of a grabby two year old.
Overall our visit was quite good. The hotel provided a high quality stay and a good value. I definitely recommend the Saray Hotel.
