We spent two nights at Hotel Macia Plaza on our recent trip to Spain and would rate this hotel very highly. The location is perfect, in Plaza Nueva, which is a great plaza filled with open air cafes and a view of the Alhambra. We rented two rooms since there were five of us (two adults, three children). The rooms were clean and the hotel had a relatively cosmopolitan feel. The people at the front desk were exceptionally nice and helpful. There is also a great little pastry shop/café just at the edge of the plaza, turning right when leaving the hotel and walking up to the street that runs along the plaza. We loved Granada by the way --- great mix of the old and new.

The location of this hotel makes it a great stay, even if the rooms are nothing special. Room was clean but rather small, with small windows. If you're looking for luxury, there's nothing to find for you here, but if you plan on seeing the city, and are looking for a reasonably priced room, on a charming square, this might be great for you.

The room was small but comfortable and clean. I'd asked for a quiet room, and the room they gave me faced an airshaft so it was quite quiet although not much light came in through the window, but I don't really care too much about views or daylight as I never spend any of the day in my room. (FYI, from looking at the floorplans, the only rooms with large windows are the few at the front, over the square, where you'd have lots of light and a view, but probably a lot of noise). The only real issue I had with my room was that it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The staff were polite and very helpful, though, and the location is great. This is a perfectly good budget choice - just take some febreeze with you if the smell of cigarettes bothers you.

We arrived in Granada from Sevilla without any hotel booking. Our guide book suggested that Plaze Nueva would be a good place to start so we headed there and this was the first hotel we saw.

The hotel is clean and tidy. We found the staff to be helpful. The room we got was tiny as was the bathroom (where anyone who was overweight or very tall would not have been able to sit on the toilet!!). The window looked onto the back of the hotel and didn't provide any view. However, we'd turning up without a booking so I guess you can't get a good room that way!

We were happy with our stay at this hotel as it served it's purpose as a place to recharge after a busy day sightseeing or a busy night visiting tapas bars! It was not an expensive hotel either.

OK, this hotel is not that nice, but for the money I thought it was great!

The room was of a decent size and was clean. The bathroom was also fine and the shower was good. There was no view from the window, but who goes to Grananda to stay in their hotel room?!?

The location was excellent. I stress...it was excellent. Right in between the old town and the new town, right in front of the road leading to the Alhambra.

In the Plaza Neuva, right outside, there are buses and taxis in abundance.

Although not 'friendly', the staff were competant.

I would defintiely recommend this hotel as a good budget option.

Do not eat at any of the cafes on the Plaza Neuva that have outdoor seating, they are all awful. There are plenty of other really good places to be found round about though.
