We wanted to have a special dinner on our last night in Granada, so we chose Bar Restaurante El Trasgu because we heard that the menu included gluten-free as well as vegetarian choices and because they specialized in food from Asturias in Northern Spain, which we had never tried before. We were not disappointed.
I started with Ensalada Zana, a huge salad that could have been an entrée on its own. It was a delicious mixture of mixed lettuces, Queso de los Beyos (a cheese from Asturias), tomato, mint, and walnut pesto. My main course was the Iberian Pork stir fry with rice noodles. I was impressed with the fresh taste of both of these dishes.
My husband was very pleased with his Duck with Passion Fruit Sauce that was served with young, fresh vegetables.
Tables were set outside in the campo (square) and made for a very romantic candlelit setting when the sun went down. Service was very friendly and efficient. Salads were around 9 Euros (around $12 in Sept 2011—but they were large enough for two!) and main courses were 10-15 Euros ($13-$20.)
