Check In - Helpful lady (originally from Miami). Porter outside - unhelpful, grudging in assisting where to park the car, and only half wished to help with unloading the bags.

Standard room -Medium to small, basic, and smelly.

Bathroom - Very basic - long time for hot water to come to the shower and when it did alternated between luke warm and scalding and freezing.

Hotel recommended El Heurtadde Juan Ranas restaurant for dinner. My wife and I gave it 10 out of 10 for the view (over the Alhambra), 5 out of 10 for the food - mediocre, fussily presented and way over priced, and 2 out 10 for the service-unless you were a pretty girl in which case they fell over you.The waiter basically ignored us and the service, at best, was perfunctory.

Saw other diners from the hotel there so presume the hotel rates this restaurant.

Overall impression - based upon the room (patches of worn out carpet) and the service we had and the staff (apart from the receptionist) no reason to come back.

This hotel is VERY convenient, it is quiet (at least so in early June), and our accomodations were very comfortable. But ... the service in the dining rooms was poor at best. At dinner our waiter just disappeared after taking our order, and we eventually got service by corraling another waiter. In the bar, with its wonderful view out over the city, we found the service persons shooting the bull in the bar, not out looking after the customers.

Too bad, as the stay was otherwise very good. This smacks of poor leadership from the hotel management.

  • Liked — quiet

We chose this hotel because we wanted a first-class experience and the Parador was booked. We were willing to pay top dollar, and boy did we! We expected and accepted that it would be over-priced, but we were not prepared for the astonishingly rude service. It wasn't an isolated incident. In fact, we didn't have a single positive experience with a single member of the hotel staff, from the front desk to the restaurant. I've traveled in many places and stayed in many hotels of every quality, but I cannot remember being so consistently offended by the condescending, couldn't-care-less attitude of the staff. The hotel was not elegant, but cheesy in a low-budget Disney sort of way. The room itself was attractive and it did have a great view of the city, but the a/c did not work, and though we paid for a queen bed we got two singles. It was not worth the "price" we had to pay, and (in case it is not obvious) I do not recommend it, even as a last resort.

  • Liked — Good shower
  • Disliked — Every staff member we met was a miserable jerk

Very disappointing hotel. The smell in the room was like an outhouse, wreaking from the bathroom plumbing. So we changed rooms, and guess what? Same smell!! The front desk then did nothing. It was really intolerable to stay in the room. We managed to survive by keeping the windows wide open.

Other features of the hotel: Mostly tacky decor and furnishings.

The only positive about the hotel is that it is close to the Alhambra and has good views, but most of the view is of the modern part of the city. And there is no view of the Alhambra itself .

If you have a nose, definitely choose another hotel.
