We were also a bit apprehensive after reading some of these reports. We can only say that we would go back tomorrow! We had a junior suite which, admittedly, was pricey, but worth every penny (sorry, Euro). We had an incredible view (but no balcony), beautiful furniture and décor, and did not experience any of the complaints made by others about dirty bedspreads or malfunctioning equipment etc. Everything was in perfect working order, super clean and attractive. Admittedly no alarm clock (see other reviews) but's what's wrong with asking for a (free!) wake-up call!?! I loved the sitting area with the huge "Moorish-style" coffee table (complete with a selection of books describing the area), and the headboard of our bed was a work of art all of its own! The staff were great - friendly but not "pushy" - and even helped us to find a place in town to ship a mirror back to Germany. We found the communal areas super and very well looked after. The general décor might seem "over-the-top" to others, but we found the whole thing very much in keeping with the setting. We didn't eat at the hotel, but enjoyed drinks on the balcony of the bar overlooking the city and found the price OK. The breakfast buffet (included in the price, but so it should be!) was as you can expect at a good hotel, with delicious fresh mangoes and sparkling wine. We are amazed at some of the other reviews on this place and can only assume that the hotel has woken up to criticism and has now got its show on the road!

Visited the The Alhambra Palace at the end of July. Breathtaking views and the architecture is stunning. Easy to see why so many artists, architects, etc have been inspired by this place over the centuries.
If planning a visit, would definately recommend getting there early morning before the tour bus brigades and heat descend. You can book tickets in advance on the website or pre purchase at branches at BBBV Bank branches all over Spain.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel although the lobby staff were a bit snotty. This is something we encountered throughout the region.

The setting of the Palace is magnificent.Get a city view over towards the mountains.

Book your Alhambra tickets well in advance (internet is good) and get there early to beat the coach tours. That way you can explore without feeling rushed. The whole site is huge so take water and be prepared to walk a lot. Don't miss the Generalife- the formal gardens which are stunning.

The rooms at the hotel are airy and light and the communal areas are spectacular. Have a few beers on the terrace but avoid the bar snack menu as it is very overpriced.

We didn't eat in the hotel but there is a great square a few minutes walk down a steep hill in front of the hotel with plenty of lively and good value restaurants and bars. An equally steep walk the otherway takes you into the city centre and the cathedral etc. I would adive getting one of the numerous little buses or a cab back though

Our stay at the Alhambra Palace was supposed to be our special splurge on our 3 week trip of Spain. It turned out to be the greatest disappointment. It was very expensive. The staff treated us as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. No one was friendly (the maid, actually, was very nice). The food was ok. The selection was not extensive.
Our room was on the lower floor next to the convention center - and thus (the night there was a party) there was a lot of noise. The men's restroom backed up to our room - and this noise went on until 2:30a.m. There was only one other room used on our floor - so I wonder why they would put us next to the convention center - but they did.
The location is great for The Alhambra - but not so great for doing things in Granada (like eating and shopping).

Our large well appointed room had fantastic views. First class service and excellent food added further to very pleasureable stay.

Only minutes walk from the Alhambra Palace and very close to the city centre and other attractions - served buy a very frequent bus service for those finding the hills a little difficult to cope with.

Highly recommended
