We enjoyed our stay at the hotel although the lobby staff were a bit snotty. This is something we encountered throughout the region.
The setting of the Palace is magnificent.Get a city view over towards the mountains.
Book your Alhambra tickets well in advance (internet is good) and get there early to beat the coach tours. That way you can explore without feeling rushed. The whole site is huge so take water and be prepared to walk a lot. Don't miss the Generalife- the formal gardens which are stunning.
The rooms at the hotel are airy and light and the communal areas are spectacular. Have a few beers on the terrace but avoid the bar snack menu as it is very overpriced.
We didn't eat in the hotel but there is a great square a few minutes walk down a steep hill in front of the hotel with plenty of lively and good value restaurants and bars. An equally steep walk the otherway takes you into the city centre and the cathedral etc. I would adive getting one of the numerous little buses or a cab back though
