“Friendly, fun, cheap place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011 via mobile

I stayed here while travelling, and its one of the best places I've ever stayed at. The building itself has a lot of character and is ideally placed in the centre of granada. I was only meant to stay for 3 nights but stayed for 2 weeks! Had such a good time with the staff and in the city I found it hard to leave! Its also got a nice terrace which is 4 floors up and looks down onto one of the squares, again many nights were spent there having fun with the guests and staff before going to explore the city. Its only about 5 minutes from the famous alambra and is 2 minutes away from some of spains last free tapas bars. I would recomend it to everyone because you will not regret staying at maktub. Love you maktub! Brrr

Maktub is one of a kind!
Based in the old city of Granada, the location is fantastic. Close to the Plazas, Catherdral, within walking distance to all the bars, shops and main shopping areas and of course the Alhambra!
We found Maktub to be friendly, alternative, authentic and certainly an unforgettable experience.
Its' a hostel with a difference, this is a place to come, be open, experience and find the hidden truths of magical Granada.
The owners and staff have a wealth of information about Granada and the surrounding areas. If you would like to check out a traditional Flamenco show or something alike, they know what's happening and how to escape the tourist shams.
The place has a communal feel but there are private rooms available, which we found to be sufficient for our stay.
The hostel has a great atmosphere, in a perfect location and the prices are reasonable.
We found that staff were always willing to go out of their way, whatever your needs.

Enjoy Granada!

I love staying here so much I went back a second time a year later. This place feels just like someones home. It is very relaxing and is all about atmosphere and character. It is a great break from typical backpacker hostels and hotels after months of travelling. We felt like we were part of the family from the first day and each time we stayed longer than planned. Every day is different at Maktub, depending on the guests staying there. It can be quiet or there can be impromptu parties put on by the staff at the guests suggestion. The enthusiasm of Francois and LInda for the Granada lifestyle and adventure on offer is also contageous. Plus the location is perfect.

I completely recommend Macktub to anyone looking for something a little different with character when they travel.
