“Got the job done”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Arteaga (named for the street) was simple, basic, and small, but it met our minimum requirements and definitely got the job done. The bed was comfortable if small, and the bathroom worked fine and even had a fan - the only one we've found in Spain so far that did!

Definitely a budget hotel. Small room but there was a closet to stuff our bags into. Tiny shower, but the water was hot. We had a room up on the third floor so there was no street noise. Good location, easy access to the old town and the interesting neighbourhoods. Service from the manager was excellent, he definitely tried hard for us, and the communication by email beforehand was pretty good.

They do have discounted parking but it's at a lot (Gran Capitan) that's about 1km from the hotel, so be prepared for a walk. It is possible to drive to the door of the hotel but there's nowhere to stop in that area.

Room Tip: Higher floor

I stayed there for a week during summer.
the hostel is very well located, it was clean and had air conditioning which is very important for the summer.
on the negative side, the rooms where a bit old.
but overall a very good experience, the staff was nice and it is a cheap hostel.

This hostal is one of the four situated in the middle of Gran Via. Is was unexpectedly clean and provided quite some facilities for a one star. There are antique windows and doors but also a lot of things you will find surprisingly new and modern at this 19th century building. Bathrooms are completely new and shiny clean. Single rooms are more like 9m and double ones closer to 12m, compared to what they advertise, but it's still great value for the money. Triple and quadruple rooms are indeed spacious, so even better if you're travelling with friends. You may wanna the review on trip about the bathrooms. Recommendable, if you're on a budget !

If you want a cheap and nice enough central place this hotel is perfect. It's in the centre of town with walking distance to most things. The room was nice and big enough. There was a fridge - always a plus!
There was no wifi on our floor, but it worked with a cable.
The manager is really nice and funny, even though his English was limited.

This hostal has extremely small rooms. There is no space for luggage or anything. You can only lay in the bed and sleep. Also, we didn't see any "Baños Arabes" in the nearby and the restaurant (where we are supposed to have breakfast) was closed for some unknown reason.

My Aant and I traveled to Granada, and based on the reviews that I read here, we decided to stay at Hostal Arteaga.

The room was quite a bit smaller than it looks in pictures, but it was clean, and had ac!! The ac was very good, it cooled the whole room down with no problem. The bathroom was small, but clean and serviceable. They don't provide soap, but they do bring clean towels, clean the room, and make the beds every day.

Additionally, if you stay 3 nights, you get a free spa treatment! The spa is small, but very cool! We very much enjoyed our spa treatment, and who can beat free? :)

Many reviews complained of noise, but we had a room that faced the court yard, and it was extremely quite.

This hotel is located very near Plaza Nueva, and transportation to the Alhambra. The front desk will even arrange tickets to the Alhambra for you at no extra cost. My one caveat is that only one or two of the front desk staff speak English. If you are not very good with spanish, this may cause a bit of an issue, but it's not insurmountable.

I highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay in Granada.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to outside noise choose a room facing the courtyard.
