What a lovely hotel!
There is another Room Mate hotel in Granada which is more expensive, but I would definitely stay here again.
The decor is beautiful - very modern and stylish. The breakfast was the best we had in our months holiday, the rooms were clean. The only problem was, although the windows were double glazed there was a bit of noise at night.
The location was great, we caught a bus to the Alhambra, but walked everywhere else.
Don't use the laundry service though if you are on a budget - 7 Euros for 1 shirt!! We found a laundry 2 blocks away which did a small load of washing and drying for us for 10 Euros.
Lots of extras in this hotel - newspapers, safe in room, fridge in room, apple beside bed each day.
We paid in advance with a special internet deal 64 Euros per night. Excellent value!

Room Mate Leo is located in the middle of a pedestrianised shopping district, during opening times a taxi will not take you direct to the door but drop you off about 200 meters away. The standard rooms are smart if a bit on the small side the shower-room (no bath) functional, lighting in the room could have been better as could space to put things. The contenintal breakfast was good, and the roof terrace not a bad place to be. The best bit were the very helpful and friendly staff on reception.

Just back from a four day stay at the hotel mate leo which excelled my expectations. After reading the most latest review, I wanted to clarify that the breakfast is great (cold buffet of ham, cheese, spanish omelette and what I think is gazpacho), fruit, croissants, fresh juices, yoghurts, toast, tea coffee and cereals, plus wireless does work in the rooms.

The staff, from the reception to the cleaning and catering staff were friendly all round.

The best point was the room itself - quiet and very well appointed - looked brand new - all creams and browns. I get the impression that someone has really thought about the decor and how to effectively use the space. They even put a slip of paper in each room informing us that the clocks were due to go back - little attention to details helps.

Great location - by the cathedral and a lively shopping/restaurant area, but not too lively - ie not 'nightclub' lively if you know what I mean. I must be one of the few who was 'underwhelmed' by the Alhambra, but on the positive side, the hotel really made the stay special.

Minor point - the TV didnt have any English TV channel but hey, when in Spain....!

Oct 11, 2008 | Trip type: Friends getaway

we're two friends that stayed in a standard room for two days.
starting from the good things. Location is excellent, smack in a pedestrian street in the middle of the shopping districts, very near to the cathedral and the chapel where Isabel and Ferdinand are buried, walking distance from all the main plazas and the alhambra (20-30 minutes, slow walking) but you can take the bus. beds are large and comfortable and staff speaks english and is generally helpful.
and now the less bright things: arriving with a car, the instructions on the website directing you to the public parking with which they have an arrangement is pretty good until the end where it is a little confusing (there are several parking with the name "puerta real" and it is important to enter "plaza puerta real" which is the correct one), prices for parking are about 18E per day which is not that cheap. the parking is located a few minutes walk from the hotel.
The room itself had a distinct smell of sewage early in the morning but since we weren't in the room much we didn't do anything about it so can't coment on staff ability to help us there. there were electrical noises from speakers in the ceiling which we ignored but might distrub some people's sleep. breakfast buffet (which was compulsory ordering through the web sight) is nothing to write home about and i think is not such a great idea in the middle of the city where there are dozens of cafe very close by. the WIFI they are so proud of just didn't work.
to sum it up: for the price we payed (100E+18E parking for two people for a night, at the beginning of October ) we got great location and a little much else.
since there are many more hotels near by I'm not sure I would have returned to this one, especially with a car.

We recently stayed at Room Mate Leo as a treat for the last few days of 2 weeks away in Spain. We wanted a good hotel in the centre of Granada close to the shops and it was exactly that.
I booked directly via the hotel website. Friendly and helpful staff. The room was not huge but it was clean and nicely decorated.
The complementary breakfast was perfect and plentiful. I would stay again at the right price.
