caught local bus into Malaga which is really nice got info from tourist info on what to do there.The harbour is nice to walk round.
Check price if you buy meals out has it does not include vat.

“near the train station.”

in the very centre of torremolinos, on the main road to Malaga. here there are shops and bars, also the train station is just ahead about 3 minutes walk.

“Very touristy”

The Plaza Costa del Sol in Torremolinos is situated at the top of the Calle San Miguel, and both suffer somewhat from being very much the haunt of half clad tourists.

“Large sandy beach.”

Only over-crowded in the main tourist season of July and August when the Spanish people also make an appearance!
The chiringuitos (beach bars/restaurants) are a central point for all beach lovers - how the Spanish Government could even dream of trying to make them illegal and close them down astounds me.
Try Los Marengos and Larrys behind the Sol Aloha Puerto hotel - good food and very friendly.

Plenty of shops and cafes, where you can sit and people watch then haggle in the shops as you will get it cheaper as they want the sale.
