“May be 2* but very comfortable and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This was my very first visit to Torremolinos and I had prepared myself to expct the worse, lager louts, drunks in the streets and generally noisy and the hotel not to be very clean but bearable. I was so wrong... this hotel was lovely, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, nothing was dated all quite modern. Although our room did not have a fridge. We were a group of 7 ladies, I was in a twin room and some had a suite which had a mini fridge and small kitchenette. The hotel manager was very accomodating and polite, as was his wife. There is a courtyard were there are table and chairs. Altough there isn't a bar in the hotel there is a small bar next door that serves drinks and tapas which can be taken into the hotel. Breakfast can also be served in the couryard from next door if you let them know. The hotel is situated next door to a bigger hotel Princess Solar, you may need to mention this to the taxi driver from the airport, as ours drove straight past the hotel. We felt very secure as there is a locked gate and accessable with your room card, then another thick wooden door again you will need your room key. The beach is about 10-15 minutes walk which is pleasent. If your looking for lively then this isnt for you. Even the beach at this end is more Authentic. We stayed 4 nights and would stay again.

Room Tip: We atayed in Room 108, Single rooms are very small

We found this hotel via the Easyjet / booking.com web site. Looking for a six day break in the sun away from dull UK. The price looked good and the reviews good so we booked it. What a pleasant surprise we had, the hotel is small snuggled next to the big Princessa Solar and is far different from the big style hotels. The Villa Albero is a family run, fifteen room hotel. The rooms are around a rugged and peaceful central garden. Sitting here writing this the birds are singing and we could be a million miles from the hurly burly of Torremolinos but in fact we are only a four minute walk from the beach. Our twin room is impeccabley clean and all the facilities work perfectly. It has the true feel and ambiance of the real Spain. The family treat their guests as part of the family. WiFi signal is strong in every part of the hotel and it's rooms. If you are looking for a small friendly hotel near the beach give Villa Albero a try, we will definitely be back.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

My wife and I stayed for two days for her birthday, to use as a base to walk around La Carihuela as neither of us had been to the area before. We parked in the underground public car park, expecting to have to move the car after unloading as the day rate was some 21 Euro, but the Villa Albero has a few reserved bays, and a voucher bought from the hotel reception reduced this to 5 Euro a day. The lady in reception was very helpful, speaking excellent English, and the rest of the staff were unobtrusive. The room was clean, comfortable, and well furnished, and the bathroom had a bath as well as a shower. I thought the courtyard could have done with a little gardening, but my wife disagreed - she likes the rustic look! I suspect we went at the very beginning of the season (early April) as the hotel bar wasn't open while we were there (and there is no restaurant), but that was not an inconvenience because there was another bar, serving food and drinks, next door - we suspect it may be run by the hotel - and others close by. Although the hotel was on an unimpressive main road, the room was quiet at night. The staff in the Irish Pub opposite (O'Brien's) said that Torremolinos had experienced an unusually quiet 2012 summer and winter, which probably accounted for the number of businesses seemingly closed and for sale or rent particularly in the area away from the seafront, but we liked the variety of shops and restaurants along the promenade, and ended up eating in an authentic Moroccan-style restaurant on both evenings we were there. We had a room at the back of the courtyard on the ground floor, and were able to sit outside the room to rest in the shade when we got back from our walks. Given the limited facilities I would agree with other reviewers that it is probably not a place for a long stay - more a room to return to and sleep than somewhere to spend a lot of time - but as a base for us for a couple of days it was perfect, and we shall probably return.

From the roadside this hotel doesn't look to be in a very attractive area, as it is on a busy main road. Also, there is a big metal gate to get into the hotel.

What a pity it looks so unappealing from the outside, because as a place to stay for a couple of nights it does very well indeed. It is really a very very nice place to stay.
Once you pass through the gate, the hotel itself is very welcoming. The hosts go out of their way to be pleasant and helpful, the central courtyard in the hotel is a nice place to spend the early evening - it has some garden furniture, a shady area, lots of plants, and is very quiet. There are also bottled and canned drinks for sale from a machine, a lounge, a room for internet, and if you wanted it you could order drinks etc from room service. The outside walls around the courtyard show a bit of peeling paint, but don't be put off by that. The hotel is very clean and well looked after, it really feels like a family business.
The bed rooms have recently been decorated, and the bathrooms are well appointed and work well. The rooms were nicely and simply furnished, better than basic furnishings, the air conditioning units worked well, and security is good with the card entry system.
The hotel lobby isn't manned all of the time, but there is an entry phone system to enable you to get in touch with the people who run it. Breakfast can be available from the cafe next door - which I did - for under 4 Euros.
The hotel is one block back from la carihuela which is the prettier part of Torremolinos, more of a fishing village feel, with lots of bars and decent restaurants with fish specialities. The bakery, La Tahoma de Torremolinos in La Carihuela provides good snacks throughout the day as well.
So, I wouldnt say this was a place for longer than a week - but for a few days, or for a couple without children, this would be superb. Most of the guests were the kind of people who like to keep themselves to themselves, and to explore - younger couples and singles - and this place suited us all well.

Room Tip: I had a room which faced into the courtyard rather than onto the main road - room 201 - and this was...

What a wonderful surprise this Hotel turned out to be. We had reserved a suite which turned out to be a lovely spacious, airy and beautiful room. Spotlessly clean, well maintained complete with a small kitchenette with a 2 burner hob and fridge. It had a sea view and overlooked the garden. Although this hotel is on the main thoroughfare there is NO noise to keep you awake as the high wall and garden keeps it peaceful.
The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble to help with, car parking at a greatly discounted rate next to the Hotel as was the bar associted with the hotel.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Reserve a suite, well worth the little extra charge.

Stayed in this hotel on the 19-02-2012 to the 29-02-2012 was very impressed with this hotel although from the outside i panicked a bit as it does not have much appeal from the outside, but once you enter this little paradise you will be welcomed and shown your room by a lovely lady who also speaks english. Our room was cleaned every day and was very spacious with air-con,hairdryer and tv.We also had a little hob oven although we never used it.I would recommend this Hotel to anyone although i dont think its for kids as there is no swimming pool but our pool days are over.Security is exellent in this hoteland you dont need a safety box.Well done Albero i shall return.
