“Tito and staff very rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

We have been visiting this tapas bar for past two years and were most disappointed with our last visit. During the week days we were served quickly and enjoyed the tapas however when the weekend came around and the place was filled with locals as tourist's we were completely ignored when we wanted to order. We also found that on a number of occasions we were overcharged by Tito himself and as for his male assistant he could not be more ruder if he tried.

I think this is an establishment that prefers the locals and are not really interested in tourist and while the food is lovely we will not be back.

“Changing Hands”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

This is an old favourite where you can eat delicious home cooked spanish food prepared by a family who have been operating here for decades.

Typically locals go here for the wide variety of delicious Tapas that cost €2.20 (cana, wine, or pop), or even dine by ordering larger raciones with a bottle of wine.

You will be served dishes such as tender meatballs in a tomatoe-curry sauce, tosta's topped with pork loin and roasted pimiento, croquetas, salmorejo, and much more. You can also order a racione of the jamon iberico (€14), or of the local cheese (€10).

In recent years they have expanded outside and now have about a dozen or so tables. Tito Juan is not as active in the restaurant as he used to be, which brings me to my next point.

His daughter and brother now work there along with 2 other assistants, and the changing of hands is definitely noticeable. There have been some issues where the brother is inconsistent with the bill, charging one price one night for a 1/2 racione, then charging another price another night. The daughter could take some lessons from her father in customer service (i dont think ive ever seen her smile).

I was even told by a local that Tito's wife came out of the kitchen one night and starting insulting a regular customer of many years just because she asked for a particular Tapa (apparently she kept getting meatballs). This is not the old place my family knows.

I'm sure happy Tito is still there with a smile and friendly greeting, because i think when the day comes where he finally retires, this place will not last long.

“Excellent Tapas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

We were only in the area 4 days and ate here 3 times. Excellent tapas. Free tapas with each drink and you choose more by seeing what is on offer and pointing at your selection. Gambas pil pil were delicious as were all other selections we had over our visits. Would highly recommend.

“Best in the Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

After finding a lack of good quality food in this area, we were delighted to stumble across Tito Juans. A small, traditional tapas spot using the Andulusian 'la cana' system of a free tapas when ordering a drink or 'cana'. Should you want something a little larger or a particular item you can ask or point(!) but the experience of trying the specials and selections of the house is an interesting way to explore the menu and shouldn't be missed.

Sitting in what was (apparently) once Titos home, the Taberna has been running for years. The bill is an interesting concept, with Tito mentally keeping track of your canas and/or dishes. No mean feat for 30 diners and probably the explanation for our bill being exactly 20E on every visit. Much less than we had expected and as per the menu a significant discount. All part of the friendly, laid back atmosphere at Titos.

the food was good old fashionationed traditional tapas, cooked by Tito and his wife, we tried a few dishes including meatballs, chesse in oil, eggs with padron peppers and Spanish stews. All were delicious and choosen for us by Tito.

Friendly, welcoming and the most authentic feeling Taberna we've eaten at, not at all like a business, more a hobby. Titos Juans is the place to eat in the area.. if you can find it.
