“Nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

My wife is from Spain so after reading all the comments here, we decided to try this place with my mother-in-law. It is located at #5 Plaza San Miguel in Torremolinos.

Arriving at the plaza, we found a table outside where we were promptly greeted and our drink order taken. The waiter returned within a few minutes with our drinks and a plate of.......potatoe chips....hmm.

This was a disappointing beginning as we expected a restaurant with such reputation to offer its guests something a little more interesting than simple potatoe chips.

We looked at the menu which was incredible (our excitement returned). It took a while for us to decide, but we settled on the following 4 plates:

1. Block de Fois, served with a delicious reduction sauce and fine nuts. Very good.

2. Grilled Calamaritos, which were cooked to perfection and drizzled with a bit of mayonnaise sauce and a good quality olive oil. Also very good.

3. Pastel de Txangurro was delightfully soft, airy and fluffy, but sadly it was tasteless. There was no hint of crab whatsoever, and again it was drizzled with the same mayo sauce as the Calamaritos. I found this excessive.

4. Bacalao Pil Pil, what i was waiting for, and it was superb. Perfectly cooked codfish that was moist and tender cooked in a delicate but pronounced gelatenous garlic and fine olive oil sauce. Very nice.

The bill for these 4 plates and 6 drinks came to €47. Very reasonable.

I will be returning here because the quality of food is very good, and so i remain curious about the other dishes on the menu. One thing for sure, i will be having the Bacalao Pil Pil again.

“Highly Recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Have lived in Torremolinos for some time, but this was my first visit to Gran Vinos for a friends Birthday, not disappointed, great setting, great atmosphere, all the staff were friendly and helpful. An extensive menu of starters, mains, tapas, desserts, wine reasonably priced. Would highly recommend. Will be going back soon as there is so many things on the menu I want to try.

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

This was a top notch experience.
Excellent food, good value, great selection of wines and staff who are friendly to customers and to each other.
This business has none of the lazy malaise that troubles a large proportion of businesses in Torremolinos. The number of restaurants which close early and turn custom away is astonishing.
This is a fabulously refreshing addition to what Torremolinos has to offer.
