...boy would I sort this place out!
We fancied something other than fish, so thought we would give this place a try, as it touts itself as a barbecue restaurant. The staff, whilst appearing reasonably happy in their jobs, were overrun. Therefore, they were very abrupt and seemed to lack understanding of what guests want when they go out to dinner. The whole feeling was one of 'get them in, get them fed, and get them out'. There was zero sense of occasion. It was an impersonal and unsatisfactory experience.
The food was OK. No real compaints, although my half of barbecued chicken had most of the moisture cooked out of it. Chips were OK. I was asked if I wanted sauce with the chicken. Was told barbecue sauce was an option so asked for that, but was brought three other sauces instead - sweet and sour (home made and good), some sour cream, and and an indeterminate olive oil based sauce.
Wife's goulash was also just OK but more of just a plain beef stew.
After the initial drinks were served, the food came quite quickly, but then we were largely ignored for the rest of our time there. The staff were running around so much they didn't even glance in our direction, let alone have time to ask if we wanted another drink, or dessert/coffee. We would have spent more, but with absolutely no attention from the waiters, decided to head back from the hotel. So there is another 20 Euros plus they could have taken from us, which they missed out on by lacking the basics.
We got so fed up with waiting for further service that we decided just to get the bill. When I eventually caught someone's eye, and gave the universal hand signal for wanting the bill, I got a nod of understanding. Half and hour (and three more requests later) it was practically thrown on the table, as the terribly busy waiter had to seat some more people. The Fawlty Towers-esque "Yes, yes yes" (from the tallest of the waiters if you are reading Mr boss) on asking for the bill for a third time did not go unnoticed, and was not appreciated. You know, well excuse me!
Whilst none of the restaurants along the front in Torremolinos could be deemed to be expensive by UK standards, this was one of the more expensive, so in my view, not worth visiting when considering the overall experience - there are far better. Having eaten at the top 5 Torremolinos restaurants on Tripadvisor, you could do a lot worse than try these first as they are all good.
