Booked into the Stella Polaris after one uncomfortable night at the Hotel Kristal. We were given a studio room for the price of a twin. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, with a small, well equipped kitchen area. the balcony had panoramic sea views. There is a lovely pool area with plenty of comfortable sun beds. There is also a restaurant which we didn't use. The hotel is situated in a great location
The reception staff are extremely helpful and friendly, especially Arturo. I will definitely be looking to return

Spent a week here with two kids aged 12&6 last week. Lovely place, so clean and comfortable. We were in a studio which was very spacious. Our room was on the first floor which was really handy! The hotel is in a great location, quiet ( it helps that police station very near) but close to main street.Staff helpful, make sure to request key to gate and chip for lift as explained by other reviewers. At bottom of steps is the lovely El Gato, recommend it food wise. Spent good part of each day at pool, which the kids loved, nice pool bar for drinks and snacks. Variety of nationalities which was lovely. Nobody hoarding sun loungers! We used to walk to main street which has lovely little shops, cafes, restaurant on-route and make our way down to beach via steps every evening. Then take lift back up to hotel. Highly recommend location.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be sea/pool view. Cant go wrong

Estimado cliente,

Excellent location, near beach and center.
It is easy to find.
If you do not want to leave Torremolinos, you do not need a car as everything is nearby.
We did not use to swimming pool, however it looked very nice.

Stayed here 22nd May for 6 nights with my sisters and a friend for part of my 40th !! Great place very clean and helpful staff. Anything you ask for they are quick to get you. Rem to get key for gate to beach as it closes at 5:30pm. Beach lovely and torremolinos lovely too nice little windy steps n shops towards beach. Best getting train from airport as it cheaper and train stain in centre off main square and only a 5 min walk to hotel..

Overall this was an excellent place to stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were helpful suggesting things to see and do. There are many family friendly attractions in the area. No busy streets to cross to get to the beach but a lot of stairs to get down to sea level. Didn't see that as a problem, only took a few minutes to get to the beach. There is also a town center with shops and cafés and a train station just a five minute walk from the hotel. The only negative thing would be the firmness of the bed. All in all I loved the hotel and the area and can't wait to return!

This hotel was last renovated (exterior re-clad, new kitchen/bathroom fittings, new glass walled lifts on exterior of building by main entrance) - the lift in reception which you "think" is the lift to the rooms - ISN'T, head towards the front corner, and use the glass walled lift as the other is for the cleaners) in I think 2008.

It is a quick 5 minutes walk maximum to the La Nogalera centre with lots of (gay) bars/small clubs & restaurants around it. Try the Italian Restaurant (Bella Italia) right next door to the Evasion pub on Calle Casablanca, it's great, friendly staff & not expensive.

For the straight scene you need to go to the 24 hour square at the Marina in Benalmadena for night clubs, or Fuengirola (horrid concrete jungle imo!), but there are plenty of late (4am+) ordinary pubs to go to in Torremolinos.

It is an impressive looking hotel, with a stylish but smallish pool, posh reception area, and very friendly staff throughout.

You cannot fault the location of the hotel, literally 5-6 mins stroll up the road to the Plaza at the La Nogalera centre for the train (just go down the stairs with the RENFE sign above the entrance in the plaza past the children's playground) to Malaga in one direction, and down to Fuengirola in the other, 2 euros each way to Malaga, or 3.50 euros to Fuengirola, and you can take the Ferry back to the Marina in Benalmadena for only 9 euros if you fancy a change.

There is a decent buffet breakfast with all the typical bread rolls (white crusty / brown crusty), 4 types of cheeses, 4 types of ham (salami, chorizo, luncheon ham type stuff and one with bits of red pepper and olive in), typical German Sausages, Fatty Bacon (not like UK Bacon), Slightly greasy Eggs, Baked Beans, Fried Tomatoes in Herbs, Cereals, Coffee, Tea, Fruit Juices, Fresh Fruit sliced up (room temperature though not chilled as you would expect), similarly about 6 flavours of Yoghurts also strangely at room temperature rather than chilled.

If you haven't paid for breakfast, then it's 9 euros per person, served from 8 - 10:30 am, similarly Dinner is from 7-9:30pm I think, at 11.50 euros per person.

There is a bar in the main restaurant which is accessible to the tables by the pool outside, but we didn't use this.

Now to the rooms.... these are modern, have fab bathrooms with bidet, toilet, sink, shower cubicle, all very nicely done, but no soap holder in shower to put shampoo & soap on, have to balance on mixer tap!

The shower tray although grooved can be slippy when wet, so be careful.
TOP TIP: Takes ages for hot water to come to sink, so use shower first then when you want to shave... voila... HOT WATER!

Shower mixer temperature doesn't appear to be regulated very well, so err on the side of caution and have a slightly cooler one!

The rooms all have nice balconies with table & 2 chairs, and tilt-turn and open patio doors, and windows which are double glazed, all rooms have free Hot & Cold Air Conditioning, although the hot side A/C is not enabled hotel wide till the temperature gets cold outside!

There is a smallish ~20 inch remote control LCD TV with BBC World News, CNBC Europe, and one Discovery channel I think that had English programmes on part of the day, all the rest is Spanish or German, as UK TV can't be received generally in Spain now that they have changed the satellite broadcasting beam to ONLY cover the UK footprint and not Spain anymore!

The safe in the room, is mounted in a movable cabinet, but don't worry there is always someone on reception, and they would notice if a big cabinet was being carried out by crooks! lol!

The safe key (and lock!) rental is 28 euros per week plus returnable 10 euro deposit. They give you the cylinder lock & key which fits into a hole in the safe door, first time I have seen it done like this!

There is FREE wireless internet in reception but it is PAINFULLY SLOW, around 56k dial up speed, and the expensive 30 euros PER WEEK, or 8 euros per day broadband is rubbish at a maximum of 1 MB if you are VERY lucky, although we heard one guest complain after paying that it didn't work properly anyway!

So personally we didn't pay and just used the FREE WIFI in reception to check emails, don't think of browsing websites or watching music / video, if just won't happen!!!!!

The kitchenette has a drawer BELOW the built in microwave containing generally, a saucepan, frying pan, milk jug, a selection of knives, couple of wooden spoons, 2 big strainer spoons, 4 piece cutlery set. The cupboard has a 4 person setting of dishes, plates, coffee cups & plates, bowls, and 4 each of glasses and Cappacino type small cups!

TOP TIP: Bring a MUG from the UK as the cups supplied are laughably small, about a third of a normal cup!!!!

We ended up buying mugs from the gift/hardware shop just before the Supersol Supermarket on Calle Casablanca (Supersol is open till about 9pm every day, Cost 1.50 euros for a big mug!)

The fridge is also pretty small, big enough for a bottle of coke laid sideways, 2 litres of juice/milk in the door, and another shelf to put cheese ham eggs butter on... It also is NOT COLD like a UK fridge, so expect food to go off quicker!

Not many hangers in the built in wardrobe, but didn't bother us.

Now to the beds.... OMG, these are THE HARDEST BEDS I HAVE EVER SLEPT ON!

I had to put that in capitals to emphasise just how hard the mattresses are !!!!!!

I have a firm mattress at home, but this one (same in all rooms we had) was like sleeping on slightly sprung concrete, I woke up the first morning and literally could almost not stand up, and had to use the bedside cabinet and wardrobe handles to get up!

I then had bad backache for the next 5 days before recovering, similarly one other in our party got backache, and we are not old, and don't have any back problems,

I am sure even Nelly the Elephant would complain they were too hard!

We all partly solved this by taking the (thin) duvet cover off the other bed in each room, folding it in half and putting it under the middle section of your body to support yourself, but take it from me these mattress are TRULY APALLING!

We had read the other people on here saying the beds were hard, but that is a giant understatement! I have NEVER EVER slept in a bed this hard anywhere in the world!

Apart from the problem with the HORRIBLE BEDS, slow wifi, and inadequate fridge, this hotel SHOULD be one of the best around as it has a great, QUIET location, brilliant staff, sort of decent buffet food, near to everything (stairs to beach are just 300metres or so up the road (just go up Calle Skal outside hotel till you get to junction with Calle Danza Invisible, carry on another 50m up onto Calle Santos Arcangeles till you see an Archway on right hand side with "Esclalera Por la Playa" (stairs to the beach) above it, which has a metal gate which is locked at 7pm prompt (at top and bottom of the about 150 stairs to beach).

You can get a key for the lift to the beach which is here, but there is a waiting list as the key now has an electronic CHIP in it, so we didn't bother, think it was 10 euro deposit for the key. I think the key may also unlock the gate when locked, as the lift entrance at bottom is round the corner!

Would we come back to this hotel? Opinions are divided, I LOVE the look of the place, rooms are good, staff are great, location is great (central and most importantly QUIET) but they do currently have truly awful mattresses on the beds, and slow Wi-Fi and pretty rubbish fridges in the rooms!

May go back later this year, or may not, which is a shame as it could be so much better for a little expense by the hotel!

Room Tip: Avoid lower rooms if possible at front of hotel (main entrance side) as these have no views apart fr...
