“A very enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

My husband and I stayed for three weeks on a self catering basis in April 2013. We were in apt 517. We had windows looking out to sea and a balcony looking over the pool area. The apt was modern and very comfortable, with ample space - table, two chairs, two single beds put together, television, small safe, kitchen area with everything you would need to self cater - microwave, pots, pans, cutlery, small drinks fridge (not a full sized fridge) Large shower room (curtain, not glass) with clothes line for smalls to dry. The beds were comfortable and we had a great sleep every night. I like to have two pillows, so the day of arrival, I went down to reception and asked if I could get an extra pillow. Within a very short space of time, two extra pillows had arrived. Our apartment was cleaned on a very regular basis and linen changed frequently. There is a small laundry in the basement, but we never made use of that during our stay. We found the whole complex was kept very clean and tidy. The pool area is very nice, clean and has plenty of sun loungers. We used to stay in the Santa Clara apartments, just down the hill from the Stella, so know the area very well. You can request a key from reception, that allows you to take the lift down to the beach area, which is very handy. The lift is just a very short walk out of the complex and across the street. The Stella is ideally located, as it allows you to walk either into town or down to the beach - best of both worlds. Easy to get to from the train station too. Whenever we went to reception, or even just coming and going, the staff were always very friendly, helpful and always acknowledged our presence. We are booked in again later this year, for four weeks, and are thoroughly looking forward to having another enjoyable stay.

Had a great holiday at the Stella Polaris hotel. We flew Easyjet from Southend to Malaga and was at the hotel fairly quickly, there was ten of us altogether and not one of the three taxi drivers knew where the hotel was, which could have been a bit discouraging if we didn't already know a bit about Torremolinos. So make sure you know where your heading if going by taxi which should cost €17 taxi fare.

Our hotel rooms were very good and felt very safe. We had a studio apartment for four and it was actually two interconnecting lovely seaview hotel rooms on the 4th floor, complete with two showers, two kitchens (one locked), fridge (free to use) and two balcony's. rooms are generally cleaned every three to four days, this didn't appear to be a fixed schedule? Maybe weekdays only though? We asked at reception when we can expect to have our room cleaned next and was asked if we would like it done that day. One day we returned to see our room had been cleaned unexpectedly by the maids, after just two days, I had left some money on the table and it was still there when we returned to our room!

There was never any problem getting sun beds around the pool, very rarely were towels left on the chairs first thing in the morning, we always had plenty of choice for beds after lunch which was quite refreshing.

The hotel itself is in really nice condition throughout, the pool was cleaned every morning and deck chairs tidied up. We never saw anything broken or in need of repair around the hotel. If you needed something fixed in the room like a light in one of our rooms, the reception staff made sure it was done. If you need extra pillows like we did, they arrived super fast.

We went half-board, but the hotel appears to mainly cater for self-catering or bed & breakfast holiday guests. As such, to say the evening meals were quite sparse in guests is an understatement. We all headed down to the restaurant at 7pm sharp as we had young kids. At most there was about ten other people in the restaurant between 7-8pm, on one evening no one turned up except our group! We had the restaurant to ourselves to eat all the food on offer! The food was actually nice, the chef's did a really good job, there was always a selection of lovely tasty meats, fish, salads etc, never the same food two days in a row, but all ten of us felt we had JUST enough choice to keep us happy including the kids! The deserts however could be improved as we always had the same little cake slices for two whole weeks, also occasionally what can only be described as a digestive biscuit resting on runny chocolate in a bowl or angel delight and whipped cream in a glass? There was also a small selection of ice-cream in little tubs, with the same three flavours everyday!

The reception staff were all really friendly throughout the holiday, a great asset to the hotel, especially when needing help on how to use the train or bus services. We managed to get a key from reception to use the lift to and from the beach (€10 deposit) which really came in handy and saved a climb of 150 steps up for the grandparents. Two other things you can get at reception are a safe key (€20 per week hire and €10 deposit for the key) where a safe is bolted into a movable table in the room? Not exactly the safest position for a safe? Also the hotel has wi-fi but at a cost of €30 per week which we considered as an extortionate cost compared to other hotels we've stayed in.

The hotel is positioned with just a five minute walk to town and couple of minutes walk down 150 steps to the beach (or via lift with a key). It's around a 40 minute walk along the beach to Benalmadena harbour.

Overall the hotel was really nice and I wouldn't have a problem with staying at the Stella Polaris hotel again in the future.

Room Tip: You get a view of the beach from the 5th floor or higher, but 4th floor and lower still has a lovely...

I stayed here with friends last month and found the hotel itself to be very impressive upom arrival. The room was spacious & clean and the bathrooms were of a very high standard... we had booked a one bedroom apartment and we had 2 bathrooms between us which was a pleasant surprise. The kitchen facilities were ok..the lack of a kettle was a downside. We had a balcony from the bedroom& also from the kitchen/sofa bed area...fine except for the unmovable divider between the two meaning we had to take two chairs& all squeeze onto one small balcony. The pool area was very nice & not too busy. Our major problem with this hotel was how often our apartment was cleaned..we had the same towels for 3/4 days & our bin was overflowing by the time it was cleaned. The location of the hotel was good though it would not be suitable for older people with the steep steps to get down to the beach.. there is a lift avaliable but this does require a deposit for the key & there are still a few steps to navigate. All in all this is a nice reasonable hotel but im not sure i would be back again.

Dear customer,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I would like to inform you that the divider can't be moved due to security reasons. In addition, I also would like to inform you that being a residence, the Pierre & Vacances apartments do not offer the exact same services as a hotel.
Nevertheless a thorough clean is done at the end of the stay by our housekeeping staff, so the next guests find the apartment clean and ready - as well as a complimentary mid-stay change of towels and sheets (only for weekly stays) .
We hope we will have the pleasure to host you again.
Enrique Revenga. Director Pierre & Vacances Torremolinos Stella Polaris.

We returned to Stella Polaris for a second time in May. Stayed for one week this time with my husband and ten year old daughter. We had a wonderful week, stayed in room 412 with an amazing view of the pool and the sea. We booked a one bedroom apartment which was made up of two adjoining rooms. Therefore we had two bathrooms and two balconies. The staff were amazing. Just ten minutes after we checked in the supervisor called to our room to see if everything was ok and to ask if we needed any more pillows. I thought this was a very nice touch. The place is spotless and the pool area is lovely, no mad rush for sun loungers. We particularly loved the music that was on around the pool area and the lovely man on reception, I can't remember his name, it begins with A, got used to turning the music on when he saw us coming down to the pool. Very funny!! The hotel is so handy to everything, the train station, many restaurants, the shops and the beach. Pay 10 euro deposit at reception for a key to the lift that takes you down to the promenade. Saves walking the steps, although the steps at the end of Calle San Miguel are lovely to walk down with loads of little shops along the way. We were spoiled for choice for eating places, the hotel is central to them all. I have recommended this hotel to many friends. Colleagues at work have booked it for September based on my recommendations so I hope they live up to their reputation. If you are going to Torremolinos don't pass up the chance to stay here, I have booked again to return in October. We love it so much and will return many times I think. Can't wait to see you in October, Stella Polaris!

Room Tip: Choose a studio or apartment if you want a view of the pool or the sea.

What a great hotel. Really nice rooms well sound proofed. Bathroom had a bath with shower and a shower cubicle. Steps down to beach make it a great place to stay. Breakfast and dinner are well priced if you are self catering. Cant reccomend it enough.

Stayed 10 days in May. Booked a 1 bed flat which was two studios joined together - luxury of two bathrooms. linen changed every 4 days. Furniture basic but adequate - could do with a better quality pillow and two of them. Kitchen adequate but very tiny fridge - a family self catering would struggle with it - you could not get a large bottle into it. 2 TVs in room but all Spanish. Fantastic views from the balcony with panoramic views over the sea. Nice pool area. Boon to have the lift up from the sea front - a real selling point. Very central to shops and old town. Great reception staff. Would stay here again and worth paying extra for 1 bed - a studio would have been very cramped.

This hotel is in a very convenient area, close to centre of town ( 8 minute walk) were your also find the train station so very easy access from the airport. With just a 10 euro deposit you get a key for the lift which takes you down to beach (better than using 125 steps!!) The room it self were very clean/tidy, we had a room facing the front so looking out to mountains which we liked. Got the in sun late afternoon which was nice to sit out on our balcony and watch the sunset. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: It well worth the 10 euro deposit for the key for the lift down to beach!!
