“Just Arrived Back After A Lovely Week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We have just arrived back after a 1 week at the Stella Polaris. My only regret is I didn't stay longer. We had an early flight so arrived well before the check in time, the receptionist was very friendly and even realised when looking at my passport that it was my birthday and she wished me a very happy birthday. She asked us to take a seat while she tried to sort us a room out because we were early, after ten minutes she said our room was ready so we were really happy as we had visions of us having to wait hours till the proper check in time. The studio we were given had a very good sea view, and also a good view of the outdoor stage so we spend a night watching the circus show (very impressive), the room had a kitchenette, with hob, fridge, microwave, pots pans etc. There was no kettle but we knew that before we went so we took a travel kettle. The Rooms are very modern, with dark wood throughout.
The hotel is located in a quiet private residential street so there are no busy main roads so it is very quiet, infact the only thing you can here at night are the waves lapping the shore. It is only a short 5 minute stroll into the centre, where you will find San Miguel street which is full of shops, and restaurants. The hotel has direct access to the set of steps down to the beach, there are alot of steps to the beach, and this in unavoidable regardless of which hotel you stay in unless you stay directly on the beach front.
Overall I thoroughly recommend this hotel, it had a very nice clean pool area with plenty of sun loungers for everyone, they are clean and in a good location. What more can you want.

Room Tip: 224 has the best view.

Lovely room. Very Modern apartment. Nice pool area..but you have to be quick to get a sun lounger! Friendly and helpful staff. Although our room didn't have a toaster or a kettle it did have everything else. Really close to the beach but only if your fit enough to walk up some steep steps.
Would definitely stay there again.

This summer my two friends and I (all female) were looking for a holiday that wouldn't break the bank. I didn't have a stable job, my friend was home from university for the summer and my other friend was saving for another holiday with her boyfriend. So we decided to wing it, i.e. get a dirt cheap package holiday and go with the flow. We didn't care where we ended up as long as it was a foreign place with a beach and plenty of sunshine. So we booked one room for three people self-catering. We were told we would not get a sea view room but, as it turns out, we could see more than enough of the sea from the biggest balcony in the entire hotel! We had a kitchen that was adequate and stylish. The room was very modern-looking and had a very clean feel to it. We did notice, however, that the rooms on the ground floor lacked separation from the pool area and so I can imagine guests in those rooms would lack privacy and the space to hang towels! Also the sizes of balconies varied.
The only issues at this point, firstly is that the hotel has wi-fi but what it doesn't tell you is that its 30 euros per week to use it. (Not an issue for me but my friends' sister's baby was due while we were away so it was important for her to stay in touch!) Secondly, there were a few ants on the balcony - not many - but not enough to cause concern as this is common.
The pool was very clean and spacious. It perhaps doesn't look very big on the photos but it was never very busy. Food was available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable times. We tried the breakfast buffet one morning which was slightly overpriced at 7 euros and wasn't that good however you could eat as much as you want and they had a wide variety. Lunch (made to order, not a buffet) included pizzas, salads, burgers and sandwiches etc and that was really nice, however we didn't try the dinner buffet.
Shops, cafes, bars and restaurants were by no means in short supply within a small radius. Just behind the hotel is a staircase that leads straight to the beach, however this closes around 7pm each evening with private access only as it could be quite dangerous to walk down in the dark! However, there are alternate routes that add around 10-15 minutes to your journey. Again, not a problem as you can walk down the high street and past all the tourist shops along the way, or indeed grab a beverage!
The hotel and the area in general is not very English. By that, what I mean is that there were few English pubs etc. There were many French, Italian and Spanish tourists however this did not cause any problems as we picked up a bit of general Spanish while we were there and the locals could speak at least a bit of English as well.
Overall, to say we set out to wing it with a knock off holiday in mid-August, we ended up really enjoying ourselves in a really nice hotel.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room on the ground floor.

No knives no forks no dish's no plates no toaster no sink no hob no kettle and the hotel tells us you cannot have them?the travel republic website states all rooms have extensive kitchen facilities.if you are a family you are ok but we ended up in a small room with a fridge and a microwave,we had to buy our own party plates n cutlery and had to use the bidet to wash them in.We have room only n not superior self catering which we booked.Don't even have a brush n shovel to sweep up? no bar by the pool n no bar in the hotel?
The towels are changed every 3 or 4 days so we had 1 bath towel n 1 hand towel each to last 3 or 4 days!!!
Are you prepared to be disappointed !!!!

Room Tip: Make sure you have booked a large studio with a kitchen if you are self catering

We stayed at the torremolinos Stella Polaris for a week at the beginning of August. We stayed self catering and found the hotel exactly meet our needs and would definetly stay again.
The hotel was only completed last year and still feels modern. We were self catering staying in a studio apartment for 3. The room consisted of 2 twin beds and a pull bed sofa, all comfortable. There is a small kichennette which had the basic we required including fridge, hob etc.  a nice touch Is the welcome pack that consists of dish cloth, washing up liquid etc.
The hotel entertainment is almost none existence but your located centrally in torremolinos so plenty to do.
Good central location, close to main town, with a couple of stair routed to great beaches.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

I stayed here with my partner for 9 nights in late Aug/early Sept 2011, self catering.

This hotel is in a great central location with good transport links - there is a train service from the airport and Malaga which takes one route with several stops including Torremolinos, then on to Fuengirola. Plenty of bus routes available too at either end.

The hotel is literally a couple of minutes walk from the beach which is accessed via some steps which could be tricky for some but not for us, and if you are lucky enough to have a room on the beach-facing side of the hotel as we were, the view is lovely. It is just a stroll from the centre of Torremolinos where there are plenty of shops and supermarkets - we found the supermarket staff a little unfriendly, almost annoyed at our lack of Spanish - but that's not the hotel's fault! This main square comes alive in the evenings with plenty of bars, but not nightclubs so not too noisy. There are many restaurants and bars along the sea front which are also a hive of activity at night, and there is a strip of restaurants and shops at the back of the hotels which is lovely - Cafe San Miguel is worth a visit.

The hotel itself pretty much had everything we needed. The staff were friendly, the room was basic but clean. The only thing that wasn't clean was the floor....very dusty and mucky, enough to stop you walking around in bare feet! But everything else in the room perfectly clean, lovely kitchenette with electric hob, microwave, kettle and decent fridge and freezer compartment. Pots and pans and cutlery provided. TV channels pretty much all Spanish but that was expected. Air conditioning very effective with no extra charge. Bathroom was actually a bit better than I had expected with a good shower. The water was hot but never boiling - although you don't always want that in the heat.

We only ate in the main restaurant once in the evening and it was buffet style, food was only ok really. The breakfast however was very good with lots of choice but unfortunately not 'real' sausages.

Pool area was great, nice big pool and loads of sun loungers with a bar area where snacks were also available. There was an entertainment guy/DJ who played music around the pool all day which may have got annoying for some. He quite often tried to get people involved in activities but as it was end of season there weren't that many people willing to join in. He continued his entertainment until around 10 at night and for the same reason he failed to draw a big crowd but top marks for effort though!! The main annoyance was that the 'DJ Booth' was right underneath our room - we were usually woken up early with the same song every day....and his voice, talking about the days events in about 10 different languages.

All in all this hotel is good for people wanting a reasonably cheap getaway. There were slight annoyances but nothing much to complain about really and the location, atmosphere and transport links are a big plus.

Room Tip: Beach side rooms experience the most fantastic sunrise!
