“Great Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2011

This holiday was something we booked on a shoestring budget, we spent £560.00 for 3 of us to go all inclusive for 5 days.
Because it cost so little we really didn't expect much, and decided before we went that the quality time was more important than being in the lap of luxury.

When we arrived at the hotel we really were very pleasantly surprised by what we saw.

THe hotel is small compared to what you would expect on the costa del sol, but was really great.
It really is one of the cleanest hotels I've ever been in. It is spotless.
The rooms were very nice too. Tastefully decorated and plenty of space, with a nice bathroom.
We had a view over the mountains which was also nice.
The hotel is right next to the train station, and we did our own transfers from Malaga airport to the hotel , as the train was only 1.50 Euro , so it worked out really cheap.
There isn't much around the hotel in the way of night life, HOWEVER, you can get the train to Torremolinos or Benalmadena for about 2 Euro & we did this everynight after dinner and had walks around their bustling town centres and promenades and had coffee on the side walk, or visited a bar for a little drink. You really can get about on those trains.

Meal times were good, and I'm a vegetarian, with a toddler. There seemed to be a theme to each day (either mexicana, or spanish or italian etc) and was always plenty of salads on offer & a vege option every meal time. Plenty of lovely cakes & fresh fruit for dessert, breakfast was good too.

All inclusive was definitely a great deal at this place.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is great for a break away.It was mid October & the weather was scorching!!!!
I'm looking for a similar deal to get back there next year.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2011

Stayed October half term week 2011.
Royal costa is a good 3 star hotel, the staff are good at their jobs but not over friendly, they do appreciate it when you speak a little spanish so learn the basics for a warmer smile. Hotel is very clean, maid service daily with clean towels, sheets ect.
Having read the reviews on here before we left i was somewhat worried about the food, i am a very fussy eater and went out there expecting the worst, however i was pleasantly surprised :o) There was always something to have, big choice for cold meats/salads, chicken was available most days along with other meats, Spaghetti/pasta dishes were widely available too. They do try to cater for the children,ie,fish, chicken nuggets, sausage, chips. I have to say breakfasts were not the best, their attempt at the English breakfast is not the greatest, bacon, beans, strange cabbage stuff is rather odd and best left !! However there were fried eggs or scrambled every morning along with toast, crossaints and other pastries, fruit, so as i said there is always something to choose. You have to remember you are in Spain so the food IS going to be different, as other people have said if you want a full English breakfast, then a steak dinner go to a Haven park in the UK. The only thing this hotel lacks is entertainment, the evening entertainment is pretty poor, starts between 9-10, and can range from a game of bingo or a cd being put on, the hotel needs to invest in a games room, there is a space outside where there is a ping pong table and a pool table, the pool table is broken. They could install a little park for the kids.Biggish pool which is deep,5ft shallow, 10ft deep so becareful with your children if they are non swimmers,no life guard.Plenty of loungers and chairs. Beautiful gardens, well maintained.

Train station just round the corner, so lots of places to visit.
If you want a nice relaxing hotel then this one is for you, we had a lovely time but i dont think i would re-book here as there was not enough to do in the hotel itself especially if its raining.

Room Tip: We stayed first floor, pool view, rooms 109 and 110, a little noisey but not enough to keep you awak...

The hotel looked amazing as we walked in,nice and modern also very clean, rooms are basic, again very clean. The maids do a fantastic job.We went to the bar once we put our suitcases in the room, only to be told one drink each and the bar was closing at 11.notice all inclusive get plastic cups.the "canteen" was dire.Pork every night. It did not tell you what kind of fish it was, just said fish. They had liver one night but it sayed it was chicken?i think they just kept using the food over and over, making fish cakes with the left over fish ect.I saw most british people just eating a plate of chips, mainly kids. The staff very dull and boring.

Firstly. DONT BOOK A TRANSFER, it is two stops on the train, you can see the hotel from the train station, and the staion at Malaga airport is right outside the door, total cost 1.55 Euros per person and someone always there to help you buy a ticket.
Secondly, this is a Spanish hotel so if you are one of the narrow minded Brits who object to spending times with forein nationals then dont go.

ok for the more seasoned traveller this a great wee find. Spotlessly clean with new towels daily,The location just beside the train is great for lcal travel and the food more than edible. A good solid 3 star hotel with friendly staff especially if you smile and say por favor!!

Room Tip: request a pool view

Stayed 5 nights,22-27Sept,for simple r & r,and catch some sunshine.Hotel in quiet suburb, but train was great, regular, clean and cheap,if you want to go off for a few hours to browse the coastline.Walk from wide promenade to Torremolinos also very relaxed and easy going,40 mins.
Hotel was as hoped,a good 3 star,decent room,aircon good,everywhere spotlessly clean,staff friendly,and food good overall.
Entertainment low key(just as we wanted).
Very European, with every nationality coming and going,so expect food to reflect.
Location 10mins from airport,so a real strongpoint if you want to be in the pool and not taking valuable time with tedious transfers.
Only downside for us was the introduction between noon and 5pm on our last 2 days of the Europap music blasting across the pool and gardens,God knows why!.Not what folks seemed to want and even drove a few including us down to the beach. If we wanted that sort of leisure break we would have booked a town centre hip spot!,background low key music at other times was fine.
Anyway, overall as good a break as we could have planned and the value for money ,great.

Room Tip: Face the sea, back of hotel.

The Royal Costa is a good quality 3 star hotel - very clean, conveniently located for airport transfers to and from Los Alamos station. At 1.5 euros - a better option than a taxi for most people. Rooms clean and reasonaly well equipt with aircon, telly and we had reasonably sized balcony room over back of hotel - not a great view, but could see the planes taking off!.

It is very clean, but the breakfast was poor to say the least in my opinion, cant say that we looked forward to it, as was very samey, but always get toast, cheeses, cold meat, only saw scrambled eggs or something resembling bacon once in a week. Evening meal good some nights, poor other nights.

Entertainment was the biggest let down as they had nothing other than some games on at weekend, and nothing at night other than a quiz or bingo, so dont go looking for something that isnt going to be there.

On the good side not far from airport, being near train station meant that you could go to malaga, torre, benalmadena or fuengirola easily, and at small cost.

The all inclusive option looked a good option if you want that type of thing - wide selection of drinks, but if you want a hotel that is in heart of the action this isnt it - a mile or so away from everything Torremilinos offers, but if you want quiet it is perfect. 5 - 10 mins walk to beach which was clean, and a few beach bars strung out along beachfront toward the centre of torremilinos - all offering good variety and choices with menu of dias - offering fresh fish, sardines being specialities.

Good bar just 3 mins away beside the small supermercado - just along from hotel, beside hospital. Good food and reasonable prices and owners very welcoming. 8 euros for menu of day was good value, and my kids enjoyed their toasties and burgers.

Overall great value - would stay again

just back from weeks all inclusive at royal costa. hotel is very good , staff friendly and place always well cleaned. One big problem was every lunch and dinner was always pork fish or chicken. i think they just keep putting it out until its eaten.I complained but nothing changed.Never saw steak in a week and only potatoes was usual chips chips chips. A baked potatoe would have been lovely.

Room Tip: no real choice allowed. rooms allocated randomly
