“Riu Bel Playa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Truly fantastic hotel ! From checking in the staff made you feel that extra bit special with a real welcome and genuine politeness and a complimentary fruit juice (which was really appreciated after an early flight from the UK)

Hotel immaculate, food fantastic and all rooms appear to have a sea view, some maybe side/partial .

We are going back in 3 weeks time and really looking forward to it

It is a gem of a hotel and well worth considering when staying in the Costa Del Sol

This hotel is definitely keeping the Riu standards

Been to this excellent hotel many times over the last decade, but this is the first time since it went All Inclusive!
We went on a half board basis as we have before and found that the service etc. was still exceptional. The accomodation is more than adequate with sea views to die for, the centre of Torremolinos is only a 20 minute walk away with enough shops to satisfy the most ardent shopper!
The food, service and entertainment were all to the required standard bearing in mind the relative cost, which makes this an exceptional value for money experience!
The staff, from a welcoming Reception, to the Bar, the Restaurant and the Housekeepers were always busy but with time for a friendly greeting and a ready smile - not always the case at some Hotels!
In essence this is a clean, friendly, well located, value for money Hotel that I would recommend to anyone and I will certainly be back there next year.
This Hotel is driven from the top with tipical RIU management on hand at all times - Thank you Alfredo and your "opoen door policy"

Stayed here in jan for 5day break and as it was my first time didn't know what to expect but from the checkin to the room I was not disappointed.
Room was one of the best I have been in for a long time and I tend to take a few short breaks a year.
As for the food and all inclusive drinks I had ,they were great and a good selection .
No fighting for your table at night as you are allocated a table for your full stay .
Also have 2settings for dinner you pick which one suits you.

Room Tip: If you can afford it get a sea view room

Just returned from this hotel.
After a booking request mix up from the hotel, which was promptly rectified after a quick phone call back to the ever helpful Pauline at Kingfisher Travel, Musselburgh, this hotel ticked all the right boxes.
Rooms were spotlessly maintained daily, with the towel decorations regularly displayed.
Food plentiful and varied.Waiters constantly clearing tables, always friendly and polite. Thanks guys.
All public areas were also spotless.
Bar staff worked hard to stop us all going thirsty, again thanks to Jimmy , Paco, Moreno and all the team for looking after us.For the 1st time in spain in an all inclusive, whisky was actually Scottish. Ballantynes at no extra supplement!
The duty managers were always wandering around and talking to all guests. ( perhaps here in Britain we should learn from people like this, their abilty to speak 3 or 4 languages should shame most of us.)
Reception staff ,Carmen, Oliver and the rest of the team were always on hand to assist in any request we had. Thank you.
The hotel is at the end of the promenade, a pleasant walk into town. If you dont want to walk, the bus stop is just at the end of the road, line 2 takes you into the town centre.
The train station is 15 to 20 minutes walk away, offering regular services to Malaga and Feungirola and various stops in between. Plaza Mayor if you feel the need for some retail therapy away from the usual souvenier shops. Cheap effecient public transport.
In summary an excellent place to stay at a reasonable cost.

Room Tip: request room in the lower building overlooking the pool, for views along the sea front and early su...

We stayed at the Riu Belplaya for a sneaky week away in January 2013. The staff were charming, and very helpful. The selection and quality of the food was outstanding! For a change all inclusive food and drink catered for all tastes. The food seemed to keep coming, meal after meal, so if you are that way inclined, you could enjoy an eatathon.
The hotel has a small, heated indoor pool, and a larger pool outside, which was not used during our stay. It also boasts a beauty salaon, with very limited hours, and a gym.
You just have to cross a fairly quiet road (at this time of year at least!) to reach a beach which stretches all the way to Benalmadena marina - a lovely walk, which takes about one hour. There are many places to stop for a drink, or something to eat,on the way, if you have any room after the hotel meals.
We met a few people who were also spending a week at the hotel, but many others were there for up to three months. I can see the attraction of staying somewhere like this, instead of returning to Winter in England, but there is really not a lot to do around the hotel. Many other resorts and sites are accessible by train

This was our first visit to the RIU Belplaya Hotel and what a wonderful experience. As we wanted a break from all the rain at home it was a guess at where to go and this hotel is spot on.
Yes it does cater mainly for the older generation who certainly do know how to have a good time
Location: Across the road to the beach, OK so it’s quiet in January but the sun shone and what a lovely stroll along the front.
The Hotel: As a previous reviewer stated the hotel is better than the photographs.
The Room: As per Shelly Devon our room was 113 and the bathroom was the only let down a narrow "L" shape
The Food: I personal cannot fault anything, the selection was very good, salad bar excellent, show cooking and a carvery where the meat just melts in the mouth,
Entertainment: as per previous review, yes only one man, but what a star, he never stopped and he kept everyone happy, first class
All of the Staff we met all had a smile on their face and nothing was too much trouble.
In Summary: A very lovely hotel, first class staff, excellent food and a very warm and friendly atmosphere.
We will definitely return

Room Tip: One with a square bathroom
