“was ok!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

we have just stayed at this hotel for a 4 day break, what can i say, if you could get a sun bed around the pool you were very lucky, if you were prepaired to stand there in the morning and que to get a bed ( which we weren't gonna do) so we spend everyday at the beach, without being surrounded by loads of people.....we were all inclusive as well which was ok, the food wasn't to bad i suppose, but the dinning room isn't big enough for such a large hotel, specially as yesterday there was people queing up outside to get in for their dinner...the entertainment left a lot to be desired as well, the kiddies who were there enjoyed it, even the adults too, but i'm sorry but these 4 adults didn't!!!!!
also we had paid for a superior room with 4 beds (regardles of the fact we were two couples in a seperate room) it was the 4 bedded room we actually were told we would have!
well the shower in one room wasn't even attached to the wall, so was hand held but then fixed up with string, and that was my cousin who did than themselves...this is suppose to be a 4 star hotel....we recon you need to knock a couple of those off....and the exchange rate in the hotel was shocking as well £1 = 1 euro, the food from the snack bar was nice, kept you going until dinner time. cocktails were nice as well...
well everyone has their own views on hotels, food ect ect, well sorry to say this one wasn't as good as we expected, the one good thing we did have was a lovely view from our rooms of the beach, we were on the 5th floor, and they have nice large balconies as well, and inspite of what i have written in this review we did have a nice break, and a good laugh!

Room Tip: ask for the room over looking the beach, its much quieter.....higher the better.....

Stayed here in early July 2014 with my wife and teenaged son. We had a comfortable room with 2 double beds, facing away from the pool so it was nice and quiet. Food was excellent with a wide variety. We tried everything and it was really good. Pool bar and snack bar is great and staff are very friendly. Restaurant gets busy around 8pm so get there early. The hotel is situated a short bus ride from Torremolinos Town Centre so it is quieter than other hotels.

Room Tip: We had a room that was facing away from the pool so it was nice and quiet.

Had 7 nights 11th-18th July. Perfect family hotel. Great food and plenty of choice (I am the worlds fussiest eater).
Ok, we paid for superior room and ended up with a normal room asked about it and was told they are all full. There was enough room (had 2 little ones) so this was not gonna spoil our holiday. I have asked the holiday company to refund me the difference on the rooms. The room was cleaned every day and the view was amazing from the balcony.
Pools were great, entertainment was perfect for the kids. Staff was very friendly and great with my kids. Plenty of food on offer when restaurant was not open.
Adult games as well. Only 10 minutes from airport. Beach just across the road and perfect. Few shops and restaurants nearby 5-10 minutes walk.
Don't compare 4star in England to 4star in Spain. Apart from the room mix up there is nothing wrong with this place at all. It is a big hotel so it would be hard to please everyone. surely if it's busy, it must be a good hotel.
I would definitely go back here again.

Booked as a last minute break due to finding out that we are having a baby!
Requested a high room with sea view and got just that!! :) The room was spacious, cleaned every day & had a little fridge (perfect for water or the odd bit of food). Stayed at the hotel all inclusive for 5 days with my partner & can honestly say we had a fantastic holiday! There is a large swimming pool which had ample sunloungers (would need to get up before breckie to get one though-about 8:30ish) a kids pool & a quieter pool around the other side. Animation team were great during the day getting the kids up and involved & aqua aerobix was on every lunch time... loud music was played around the main pool which was a bonus. The snack bar outside is a great feature.. chicken keebabs..chips..burgers..hotdogs & toasties basically served until 7pm at night. The main outside bar also did pizzas as part of the allinclusive. I wasnt drinking alcohol due to being pregnant but the bar caters for everyone..i had mocktails and 0% larger which i thought was quite unusual but a great perk... my partner said the san miguel on draft was great and the allinclusive soft drinks were the likes of fanta, coke & sprite...kids will love the ice cold milkshake machine and endless supply of slush aswell as little pots of ice cream, ice pops, ice lollys & small spanish versions of magnums. The resteraunt was good-always something to eat...please dont listen to the negative reviews!!
The hotel is located right on the beach which was lovely as there seemed to always be a nice breeze
..the resort & hotel was spotless... lots of little shops n cafes down the front & the beach was great! Dont get a transfer from malaga airport it is 20euro in a cab & much quicker... We loved this hotel & are hoping to return next year with the kids!! :) xxx

Me and my partner always travel all inclusive as we like to watch the evening entrainment whilst having a few drinks, the hotel in General is very very nice and clean. All the staff are great and pleasant, which so far is a good start, however the only think stopping me from giving it 5 stars are the rooms. All of the hotel I would say is fairly modern, except the rooms, i don't think they have been updated since the 90s. Old box TV on the wall, kitchen is old. Basically the rooms need a facelift! Surprisingly the bathroom was nice, all tiled and quite trendy which didn't fit with the other rooms!
The food in general was nice, everywhere I have been I do not like the breakfast as to be fair it's not great, cheap local bacon and sausages which the Spanish refer to as English Sausages which is an insult as they are not!!!! Talk about making us look bad!! There was a wide variety of food for lunch and dinner including at least one meat pasta chips veg etc and it was nice.
When lunch and tea was closed there would be a little poolside hut/bar where one single man would stand in there over a grill and cook chicken, make toasted hot dogs etc all day long bless when the weather was 30 degrees, he always smiled!!! It's free for all inclusive members and you can go up when you want! Otherwise it's 4.50 Euors I think per time. I ended up tipping him as he would literally have 10 orders on the go and got everyone perfect every time.
The hotel is a 10 second walk from the beach which is lovely, loads of water sport activities.
The entertainment was ok, not the best but ok. Not as good as the Thomas Cook entertainment teams I have seen in the past.
I would recommend this hotel to you with kids/ younger couples and maybe even older couples. The shops and restaurants are a 10 minute walk, literally come out of the hotel and turn right and keep walking!

Also they state they have 2 wifi zones, the free one surprisingly doesn't work but the one you have to pay for does, I found myself having to go to a local bar to read my work emails etc every night after tea.

This hotel does not deserve some of the negative reports it has been getting, we did book this as a 4 star hotel but we had a feeling it would be more like a 3 star as the price we paid was very reasonable. It is definitely a 3 star property but for the money, what was there to complain about!
Myself, my husband my daughter and her friend (aged 19) stayed at the Puente Real on an All Inclusive basis from 16th to 26th June 2014 and had a lovely time, we had booked 2 one bedroomed apartments (so we all had some space). This holiday was mainly to relax and recharge our batteries and we did just that.

Our flight from Birmingham International took about 3 hours and we flew with Monarch – it was great (we like Monarch), clean, friendly and nice seats. We had medical seating as my husband has a disability so the leg room was good and the seats appeared to be wider than we are used to as we did not appear to be so squashed. All in all a very pleasant flight. Upon arrival at the airport in Malaga, baggage collection was quick and efficient and we had booked a private transfer so the taxi driver was there holding up a card, the transfer took less than 15 minutes in a very nice air conditioned Mercedes.

Arrival at Hotel/Room

We arrived at around 6pm; the reception staff were quick and helpful. We stayed in Apartment numbers 804 and 806 which are in the centre apartment block, so when sat on the patio we had a pathway, small garden area then the next block, not a great view but it wasn’t a problem. On the front door side of the apartments was a walk way and then tennis and football courts. Once we got to our rooms, which were probably a 10 minute stroll from reception we were a little disappointed, my daughters room was fine, made up, air con on and clean etc., when we opened our door it was apparent right away that it had not been made ready for new arrivals. This being said I phoned reception and within 15 minutes a cleaner and a supervisor arrived and did a grand job of sorting it all out and stripping beds etc. They also called the maintenance who arrived within 5 minutes to fix the air conditioning and a problem the maid had found with the TV connection (not that we need the TV). The apartments consist of a front door opening into a hallway with 3 doors, 1 to the bedroom, 1 to the bathroom and and 1 to the lounge area. Both the Patio door and the bedroom window looked out onto the patio area which had a patio table and chairs, (but no drying area, so you had to use backs of chairs etc.) The bathrooms have recently been upgraded and have a walk in shower, toilet and hand basin. It is nicely appointed – and fully tiled. The only problems being that the shower door did not go across far enough (or the lip wasn’t high enough) and and we had to use towels on the floor or we would have flooded. The towels are pretty much pot luck, some days the towels were quite good quality and fluffy others they were so thin they were like tea towels and it was difficult to get dry. The kitchen area was quite big but as we were all inclusive we did not really need it, but the full sized fridge was much appreciated. The lounge area is also quite big with two sofas that turn into beds but there would not be enough storage space if there were 4 of you. Also there is serving hatch type hole in the wall between the kitchen and lounge so would probably be a bit light to sleep. The décor is basic and dated and not really 2 star but it is all functional and the air conditioning units both worked. Although they are centrally controlled and switch off some time after midnight and come back on at 7.45am but to be honest did not need it on at night anyway.

There are 2 pools but they are not overly large and found there were not enough sun beds for the amount of guests and definitely not enough sun brollys to go round. They close the pool off at 7pm at night to get ready for evening entertainment and they unlock the gates at 9am when you are allowed to reserve them with your towels before going into breakfast (if you haven’t already eaten that is). The pool area is kept very clean as they clean in the evening before setting up for the entertainment and then again in the mornings before opening up the sunbeds. The larger of the two pools is where all of the entertainment takes place were as the smaller pool is very quiet. We took our own pool towels as the hotel does not have this facility which was disappointing considering they are marketed as 4 Star.

There were a team of entertainers lead by Mark (who was hilarious) they provide the day and night time entertainment. This comprises of a mini club & mini disco for children, some day time activities like darts and shooting etc., Aqua Gym was great fun with Mark who gyrated on the end of your sunbed if you refused to join in.

Each evening there appeared to be a show of some sort after the mini disco around 10pm which to be honest we did not sample but people seemed to enjoy it but we were happy at the outside bar watching the world go by and playing cards.

Hotel Staff

The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the bar staff and the BBQ (snack bar) guy. If you are all inclusive you are only allowed to collect 2 drinks at a time in plastic cups (including some cocktails), so if there are 3 or 4 of you then 2 people have to go to the bar together, but having said that there is a section of the bar (on the left) for all inclusive guests only to help themselves, this consisted of wine, beer, soft drink, juice, hot drinks and best of all milk shakes (the strawberry was my favourite) The All-inclusive bar only runs until 11pm, then you have to pay. There is another bar inside by the restaurant where you can have your drinks in glasses and they make the cocktails from scratch so much better, and it is also the only place in the hotel to get a decent cup of coffee.

Food and Drink

There is one main restaurant where guests eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a BBQ/snack bar that serves 'snacks' and is open whenever the restaurant is closed except in the evening. The snacks consist of hotdogs, burgers, chicken kebabs, toasties you can also get a bacon and egg sandwich if you have missed breakfast. You can also get pizza from the pool bar, not to mention there is a fridge in front of the bar full of ice lollies, ice creams etc. to help yourself to all day.
As we expected in an all-inclusive hotel, catering for multiple nationalities, the food served can seem a little unusual at times and the choice was not the best I have seen, there was no show cooking at all (like omelettes for breakfast, fresh fish etc.), which we have had in all the other 4 stars we have been to in the past. There were various food stations, hot food, salads, cold choices, kids section, and desserts. I think somedays lunch choices were far better that dinner there was always lots of fresh fruit, salad and ice cream which were welcomed after long days in the sunshine. As with any all-inclusive it gets a bit monotonous but again for the money what do you expect.

Nearby the Hotel
It is about 5 minute stroll down to the sea front where there are lots of bars and a smattering of shops and a very nice beach. The sunbeds are lovely on the beach with deep cushions and brollys but watch were you deice to go as some are more expensive than others. We walked up to El Retiro on the days we went to the beach (about a 10 minute stroll) and they charge 6 euros for 2 sunbeds and a brolly which is very reasonable.

The bus stops just outside the hotel and is 1.22 Euros each to go to Centro which is where the main shops are but beware the town is quite high up so there is a steep climb down to the beach area winding in and out of streets of shops. The front of Torremolinos is very flat and it a lovely stroll up and down the promenade.
We went out to eat a number of times and the food was amazing. We found a fabulous Italian just down the road with tables on the pavement with a view of the sea called El Paseo and the food was just wonderful and the ice cream was to die for.
We also went to Aqualandia which was a short taxi ride (8 euros from the hotel), to be honest I felt it was too expensive 26 euros each and although myself and my husband only went along to keep the girls company there are no concessions so even though my husband cannot use any of the slides we still had to pay full price. Also you have to pay 3.5 euros for each sunbed you want to use and if you want use of your own rubber ring which you need for a lot of the slides they were 10 euros for a single and 13 euros for a double and a 2 euro deposit. So to be honest felt a bit ripped off. You can purchase a return trip whilst you are there for 12 euros each so we did this just for the girls and they went back on their own on the second visit.

Return Flight

To be honest the airport was a bit of a nightmare, there were so many people needing disabled assistance and not enough staff that there was a back log. Our flight was delayed which was probably a good job but we managed to get my husband’s wheel chair sorted in the end (next time I think I may take our own). The return flight was a bit of a nightmare, they had no hot drinks at all and ran out of food before they even got to us in row 6, and this they said was because the inbound flight had been delayed on the tarmac and the passengers had eaten everything and they do not restock in Spain. The staff were apologetic but to be honest after being delayed in the airport I just wanted a decent cup of coffee and a toastie!.

Would we go again? – To Torremolinos definitely not sure I would chose the hotel but as I have said for the money we paid we were more than satisfied as we had spare money to eat out as well which we did 3 times.– but we have been to better all inclusives.

Room Tip: If I did go again I would probaably book hotel rooms not apartments thay are in a different building...
