Hidden away in a corner location on the promenade in Benalmadena is a small bar called the Sand Dancer. The meals are excellent, the staff pleasant and always willing to give their full attention to guests needs. It is a worthwhile walk from La Carihuela to enjoy a drink and hospitality in friendly surroundings.

First day of a weeks holiday and we wanted to watch Accrington Stanley play Huddersfield in the FA Cup Ist Round. It was on BBC1 and clashed with two little known sides Man Utd and Liverpool being shown on Sky.
Chris and Richard, the brothers who own the 'Bar Aladino' in Calle Aladino, La Carihuela, juggled their five screens so that we could watch Stanley, whilst others watched Man Utd and Liverpool. Revisited the bar to watch England v Wales, Blackburn Rovers, etc. Great atmosphere in a small, immaculately kept bar. If you are in the area give the boys a visit.

We have a one week timeshare apartment in the 'Santa Clara' on the edge of La Carihuela. We have been going every March now for 14 years and it just gets better and better. When we first visited you could not walk along the promenade from La Carihuela to Torremolinas as it ended at Santa Clara, but now you can walk from one end of Torremolinos right along the promenade to the other end of Benalmadina, it's absolutely wonderful, believe me I have walked it. Bars, restaurants and lovely friendly people (try the pizzeria - amazing!). It retains its own special charm and is entirely different from Torremolinos & Benalmadina. Truly a beautiful spot to spend a relaxing holiday and experience Spanish hospitality & atmosphere.

visited Carihuela October 2003, stayed in the Alegria apartments on the promenade. They are lovely, 12 rooms- 6 beachside, 6 streetside, very clean price includes safe and fan. The restaurants were superb and we sampled different tapas every day - spoiled for choice. The area is very Spanishy and definitely no lager louts. Have e mail address for them if anyone wants it but they get booked up very quickly.
