“Pleasant Evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

Just returned from a very pleasant evening at Los Pampas which lived up to all expectations. The ambience and atmosphere was friendly coupled with excellent service. The menu had some very interesting options and the quality of.food was good. The wine list was a little limited especially at the upper end but the recommended wine was very drinkable. The lunch time menu is also worth a look as it is great value for money. All in all a very pleasant evening.

“Perfect on a winter's Day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

We decided to try the Menu del dia yesterday for €10.50 as it had received some good reviews although we have eaten there before from the A la carte which is excellent. The restaurant is lovely and cozy and the quality of the food was faultless. We shared croquetas and empanadillas to start and we both preferred the latter - a sort of chilli con carne pasty in lovely light pastry. Then I chose the lamb skewer and my husband had the meatball with pepper sauce. Both were delicious although only one skewer of lamb wouldn't be enough for a big eater. Both came with home made chips and warm bread rolls with butter. The desserts were superb - home made rice pudding mousse cake (sounds weird but was gorgeous) and coconut tart. With a nice glass of red wine each it was really great value for money. Service was good, although there were quite a few other diners we didn't wait long for anything. We will definitely return soon.

“A great little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

This place was a great, I think it gets overlooked a lot, but once you venture inside the decor is really interesting and gives the place a great atmosphere. We went for steaks which seems to be the common recommendation on here and mine was great, my girlfriend said hers cut was a little fatty but I couldn't fault mine. The service was great. I would definitely recommend a visit it is a real holiday experience.

“Cheap and tasty set menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Up to 10pm there's a set menu for only 10.50 euros. Portions are a bit on the small side, but great value for money. Interesting deco inside and the waiter was friendly and helpful.

“Excellent Steaks!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

We have been visiting Torremolinos for 30 years but this year (I'm embarressed to say) was the first time we ate at Los Pampas. We've come close so many times over the years and then decided not to for some reason but this year, we were determined to try it based on reviews on Trip Advisor and ended up eating there twice on our 8 night visit!

There isn't much point in going to a steak house and not having the steak so the first time we went, we both chose the fillet. This is obviously not a cheap cut of meat but when you're on holiday.... The steak was excellent! Seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. I had to send mine back to be cooked slightly longer but it's better this way than being overcooked in the first place. The steak is served with some sort of coleslaw and either chips or a jacket potatoe. Basic but still filling and tasty. A nice salad would probably have gone well with our meal but maybe next time (because we WILL eat there again).

The second time we ate there, we had the 'menu del dia' which was €10.50 per person. The portions aren't huge but to us this was a good thing (some English people in the restaurant were commenting that they were skimpy). Normally I struggle to get through a starter, main course AND pudding but managed quite nicely (and comfortably) with a menu of the day. We both had the homemade meatball with green pepper sauce for main which was delicious! And the 'arroz con leche' for pudding was devine!

The €10.50 per person for the menu of the day was much easier on the pocket than when we had the steak meal (with a couple of beers each, it came to around €53) but the food is good, the waiter was very friendly (his English isn't brilliant but you will get by so don't let this put you off) and the restaurant itself is very authentic. They're obviously doing something right - it's been there since the late 60's and for a place to stand the test of time in this day and age must mean something....
