We stayed in sol principe for 2 weeks in early june 2009 and we can not fault it . Our coach ride to the hotel from the airport was very short only about 15 or 20 mins . On arriving our check in was fast enough considering the amount of people checking in at the same time. After checking in we were shown to our spotlessly clean room one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in . The room was small enough with a kitchen in a cupbaord but still with everything you could need including a hob . The pool area was lovely always kept spotless but when wet the flooring became very sliperey and many children fell but it was always tended to afterwards . the lifeguards at the pool were always watching the pool and never droped their gaurd . The staff were amazing with the kids club and every few days the would have a game which in the end had the kids push the staff playing the bad guys in the pool . There was a play area for kid which was closed alot though . The entertainment at night was put on by the staff but still very good they would practise most of the day . there was both adult and kids games during the day with included water polo , darts , bolwing ect. for adlts which staff made sure was enjoyable . Food and drink in the pool side bar was quite reasonable but it was just as easy to go to the supermaket attached to the hotel and only pay half the price for a drink . We were self catering but went for dinner one night in the hotel which was quite expensive for what we got but we were told from friends we had made there that it was normally better . It was on a on a great location just across the road from the beach and just a 5 minute walk from the irish pub shenanagans with showed the six one news every night at seven oclock . The hotel was also not long from the lifts which goes up though the moutains to the main town you could walk the steps to see the lovely shops but your better off to do that on the way down . I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone no matter what their age

stayed in this hotel in sep 2009 with my wife and 2 yr old daughter on a HB basis. this review is a little, but tripadvisor is such an invaluable resource for me that i feel its worth contributing where i can.

this is an excellent place to stay if you have small children/ families - as was evident by the many families there with small children. they have a daily creche for children, if you want a little time to yourself. in the evening the hotel had a regular childrens stage show, which was always popular.

the pool was also very big and excellent and always full. sunbeds around the pool were sometimes an issue, as they were normally occupied pretty early in the morning. however the lifeguards would remove towels from any beds that were not occupied for about an hour, which was greatly appreciated, and you could eventually find somewhere to sit.

the beach is right across the street from the hotel and easy to reach, if you want a change from the hotel's pool. therer was always somewhere to sit, and it was very clean.

our room was cleaned daily and of a very high standard. we had a sea view room, which was very nice.

the hotel's restaurant was also excellent - eat as much as you like, and there was a lot of variety to choose from daily. being HB, we had to pay for our drinks, and this could add up to a few quid if you weren't careful.

some practical points to be aware of: 1) we had hired a car for the 8 days we were there, and parking is a big issue. although parking in and around the hotel is free, it is almost impossible to find anywhere to park during the middle of the day and onwards. we went on a number of excursions during the day, so it wasn't much of an issue, but on occasions where we had to come back to the hotel it meant wasting quite a lot of time before we found anywhere to park. 2) the hotel shuts the doors that face the beach at midnight every day - these doors were also the ones that provided easiest acces to the shopping area near the hotel. being a very large complex, this meant that if you were out late you ahd about a 10min walk around the complex to reach its other entrance- very annoying when you came back feeling tired and wanting access to your room. 3) the hotel had a very grand lobby, where you could sit and which provided free wi fi access - this proved very helpful when we were planning on what to do.

overall,i would definitely recommend this hotel for families and a base to explore the surroundings.

we are a couple from Tunisia. We were there for our honey moon for 8 days.
people woking there are very helpful, hotel very clean, There are always places in the restaurant despite the huge number of guests. you can always find places outside in from of the sea and the second pool.
What I appreciated a lot: after the first night in the hotel we wanted to get a room wich gives to the big pool because the view is fantastic by night. The woman working in the guest service accepted with a beautiful smile inspite the fact that our room was in from of the sea.
After changing the room, we've lost a ring in the first room. They brang to us and we found it in our new room.
I recommend this hotel for families with children. I'll recommended less for young people.

i stayed at this hotel twice with my girlfriend and our daughter who was 1 at the time, i went in march (weather just ok) and in september weather pretty good. i thought it was a pretty good hotel swimming pool was unreal, the hotel itself was very clean and all up to date, the entertainment at night was very good kept the small 1 happy while myself and my other half enjoy a few drinks.
the staff were pretty friendly, english wasnt the best tho/

the few bad things are that the rooms were a bit small, like we had a double room with a cot cramped in and then the buggie on top of that like, not much room to move about. bout room really clean, it wouldnt be a hotel for young people lokking to party as the clubs and pubs are miles aways bout ten euro in a taxi, but theres is a few nice pubs around the hotel.

all in all cant go wrong good entertainment bril pool, veryclean, on the beach and just 20e away from airport in taxi

We stayed here for a week in August. The hotel is really big and we were all inclusive, which I wasn't sure about. The reception was large and staff extremely professional, we had 2 seperate rooms next door to each other and the views were excellent of both the sea and a side view of the pool. It was a pleasant stroll to the shopping centre of Torremolinos along the beach front, heading towards Benalmadena. I was worried as the deal was pretty good here that it mightn't be great but we were all very happy there were lots of other teenagers and families, there seemed to be excellent childrens club but we didnt need this service and the main pool and pool area was huge, there tens to be a shortage of sunbeds at the pool area and cover, which can be a bit of a pain, but the lifeguards watch them and if your bed is kept for more than a half hour and not used they leave a letter and after another half hour they remove your towel and free the bed - which is fair enough. Though I also think there is room if they were to purchse another 30 - 50 beds. The restaurant staff were also good if you didnt finish your wine at dinner they'd label it up and it would be chilled for you for the next evening. The food chioces and quality of food was excellent and they run the operation for such large volumes of people with prescision. We had a car for the week and the hotel car park is far too small, and as we were driving a avery large new hired mercedes, I was worried about street parking, but it was fine - just that you had to walk further than necessary. Over the week I think we only got parked in the hotel once.

we wanted some sun for a couple days and liked the look of this hotel. it has beautiful pools although they were too cold to get into! and is right on the beach. its also barely ten minutes from the airport, so possibly gettin a taxi yourself could be cheaper than the hotel bus? we got two beds instead of a double and the tv had only local channels. but a nice balcony and the bathrom was in good shape. it was very quiet, the entertainment wouldnt rouse a 90 year old, and the bar was eerily empty. we got all inclusive meals which were fairly substandard, but the price was right and we if you are feeling lazy theres enough choice that you would probably find something to stop the hunger. we did find a restaurant outside on our last night, was dear enough but the food was lovely, ample portions. and it stayed open nice and late. in the summer though this place could be lovely

Went to the Sol Principe in the first week in July 2009 on a half board basis, travelling with a 4 year old. The main selling point being the idea that is is a "Flintstones" hotel, more on that later. Travelled from Glasgow. Taxi fare was 20 euros for the 15 minute ride although you can get a train from the Airport to the station nearby which will mean a small 15-20min walk to the Hotel.
Hotel is very impressive from both the outside and the inside, although you can wait a while until you check in. Rooms vary in size and there were 3 of us so we were crushed into a double room, 3 single beds all placed side by side. Rooms were spotless and that is all down to the tremendous cleaning staff-nothing is too much bother for them.
The Hotel is MAINLY used by the Spanish, for their hols. There are 2 pools, one for the kids and one massive lagoon style pool for adults and kids supervised. The small kids pool has a hollowed out tree trunk type slide which is a magnet for kids and the pool can get a bit over-crowded. The large pool won't allow you to use any sort of inflatable including a lilo.
You can get a free sun-lounger but there is a trick here. They are chained up over night into bundles of ten. They open at about 830am. So, we got our loungers and put our towels over them and then went for breakfast. At 10am the life guards come on duty and if your lounger is un-occupied for more than an hour they simply roll up your towel and take it along with your property to reception. This happens as the Spaniards who are late risers enter the pool area and have missed out on a lounger and then complain bitterly to the guards. The Spanish will move your lounger if they require your spot!!!
There is a kids club 11am -1pm which is free, then in the afternoon at 4pm, the cost being 10euros for 2 hrs. But the kids area is SHUT during times and there is no other play area other than across the road at the beach which isn't much either.
Now for Flintstones time. The characters come on 3 times a day at different times and you can take your own picture, but you then get your kids wanting you to buy the small characters which again cost 10 euros. And that is it! No more theme for the kids.
The shows at night are good. The staff practice ALL day as though it is a West End musical or they are in High School Musical.
Food was great. Good Choice. Staff speak poor English. All in all it is a nice Hotel and I would say it is MAINLY for adults with kids aged 8-9yrs up. There isn't enough for the wee ones to do in the hotel unless you want to pay.
