“Something for everyone....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Transfer from Malaga Airport was only 15 minutes away a plus point already. We arrived at 10.30am way ahead of check in time and were advised by Reception, understandably that the room was not ready but there was a secure 24 hour luggage hold area. We were asked to return at 12.30pm to see if our room would be ready which would still be sooner than the 3pm check in time. We enjoyed a drink on the covered terrace, while we waited (prices were very good), overlooking one of the four outdoor pools and looking out to the beach, which was across the road just outside the secure perimeter wall. Everywhere was immaculately clean and tidy with plenty of hotel staff visible at all times tending to grounds and guests. Our room was still not ready at 12.30pm so the very helpful Receptionist reassigned us a room that was. We were on the 8th (top) floor with a balcony overlooking the grounds and sea. The room was simple, spacious, clean and tidy with ample storage and a large bathroom. Beds were comfortable.
We had chosen B&B basis and breakfast didn't dissappoint ample space and food, catering for all tastes from continental breakfast to full English, including black pudding!
Although we stayed around the adults only pool (depth 1.40m to 1.70m) we viewed the other pool area which was 3 large shallower lagoon style pools positioned within a themed Flintstones Park complete with giant dinosuar bone archways, characters and a play area. There was also a Flintstones themed burger snack bar. I would imagine this would be a lot of fun if you had children to keep occupied. The hotel staff ran activities throughout the day for kids and adults alike and there was entertainment in the evening in the bar area and also at the outdoor stage. There is a small parade of shops within the hotel and if you're looking for great value jewellery or handbags to suit any budget try these; the owners are very helpful and friendly. Just outside the hotel there are plenty of great restaurants and bars to eat or chill out. Paco Casa 1 by the Rui hotel offered a huge selection of fish dishes as well as a truly delicious seafood paella. And in the other direction Ciao Bella Italian restaurant served wonderful tasty mussels and seafood risotto with the friendliest and appreciative front of house servers. There was also a fantastic value Chinese restaurant adjacent offering a buffet style menu with entertaining staff.
Only downside, being a business hotel too a wi-fi hotspot in reception would have been useful as access was expensive. Also the pool shower was not working the 5 days that we were there.
All in all a great hotel and we would certainly go back again.

“Family Holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

This was our 7th time to spend our holidays at this hotel. We always returned for the sport facilities, food, friendly staff and location. However it has been three years since we have stayed at this hotel and my family of 4 were very disappointed with the standard. There was no adult sports on offer, the standard of food in the restaurant had been very average and the staff were not the hands on staff that we had encountered over the years. This was quite an expensive holiday for us a weeks holiday for six people two rooms €2,226 plus our flights on top. We went for this Hotel as we had some great memories from previous holidays and we were willing to pay the extra. It seems that this hotel is no longer driven by quality and service but offering the spanish holiday maker a full board option at a good price.

“Good for the money (we paid)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

As the title suggests we came away happy because I think we paid a very reasonable amount for our stay- £280 total for 4 nights HB for myself, wife and 2 year old. Having looked at some of the previous reviews and also the majority of hotel booking web sites, it is clear that some people have paid a lot more than this.

I say this because a trip advisor review is always relative to expectations which is pretty much based on what you pay to stay there. We booked through Travel Republic which we always find good, but for example, hotels.com were advertising exactly the same stay for double the price and if we had paid that I would be rating this 2 stars at best.

There are a lot of good things about the hotel, particularly the location, pool area and communal areas generally (including toilets at pool and reception).

Not so good is the food which is average quality and lacking in variety for such a large hotel, the noise that travels from room to room and the much mentioned check in. Come on Mr Hotel manager, you obviously read these reviews so WHY DON'T YOU PUT MORE PEOPLE ON THE CHECK IN DESK?

To summarise, this is an average hotel so you should be not be paying top dollar. As I write this review hotels.com seem to be asking around £600 for the same break we just had next weekend. This hotel is not worth this amount of money. No way.

“Rude Agressive Slow Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Firstly the hotel is quite nice and in a good location, it is kept well and the rooms are nice. The pool is also good fun and great for kids. The staff let this place down a lot. I had a few incidents. the great TRIPADVISOR had lots of reviews before i got there telling of the long que,s at reception, oh how right they are. easy 15 minutes per check in. thats 1 hour if there are only 4 people ahead of you- the slowest check in hotel in the world. add to that , when you get to the desk the guy starts complaining about his back problems.. omg just give me the key.
So we get to the pool the first morning, hundreds of beds, hundreds of towels but no people. i really hate that , same thing happened the second morning- so we went across the road to the beach and had a great day. next day i got up early - if you cant beat them join them, so i put down 3 towels and went for breakfast, when i got back there was a note to say NO RESERVING BEDS. un real. maybe they got too many complaints. So my worst issue is the restaurant staff. crash bang wallop pushy grumpy and seem to hate kids. one morning i was eating breakfast on the outer part, when i finished i walked about 10 metres to a smoking area to have a cigarette near the door as i did each morning before. as i walked back in, this most ignorant waiter actually put his hand on me telling me i cannot return, he tells me to go back out from where i came and go in the main door and show my receipt for breakfast to gain back entry, i said my table is just here (2 feet away). i have finished eating. go back out he says causing a huge scene in front of lots of other diners, i have never been as close to hitting some-one in a restaurant. generally staff think they own the place and that the customer is dirt. would not return
