“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Used this hotel for short break for sun and to see Malaga Auto Museum, hotel good and motor museum excellent. Big variety of drinks and food on offer. Memory foam mattresses really comfortable. Would use again.

I agree with everything the previous review has stated, I too was concerned from reading reviews about sickness, but was unaware or did not notice the spanish not sanitising their hands, could that be why when the hotel was full over the weekend, their holidays, a fella stood at the door to ensure that they used a bottle spray, could ;be that the machine, that sanitises, on busy periods, does not squirt quick enough and cover the full hand. I work in the catering industry so stayed away from foods I think are high risk, I also pick food from hot spots I can see in the serving dishs, if something wasnt hot enough I reheated in the microwave provided, I never put my hands on any utensil followed by putting food to my mouth from my fingers, its a pity I had to think this way, If everyone did then these reviews might not be necessary. My husband and I had a lovely time, my only gripe I found that the restaurant staff are not at all friendly, when I clear tables I am invading someones space a smile does not cost anything!Cleaner was a jolly solex

Room Tip: we stayed in 306, 3rd floor sun all day, sea and mountain view

Dear Tina r :
Thank you for choosing us for your holiday and for sharing your feedback on your recent stay at the Marconfort Beach Club Hotel.
Indeed, during the weekends and when we have high occupancy, we try that customer do not wait at the door to use the sanitizer and not make queues, so sometimes we use the spray and make sure that all clients use it.
Thanks again and I hope to return them to see in the future.
Best Regads.

just got back after a 5 day break at the marconfort hotel, & i must say it is the best all inclusive hotel we have ever stayed in,the food and drink are top quality location is a little quiet, but bus stops right outside hotel & only costs 1euro 20c to torremolinos center,or you can catch the train to malaga or fuengirola, you must stop off a benalmadina a very well worth visit with a lovely marina, you can walk from hotel into most of the resorts[and its flat] with no steep hills! its a must to call into one of the little cafe's on rout coffee or tea +cake only 2 euro ,if your thinking of booking this hotel don't be put off by the negative reviews given by euro moaners
looking to go to spain to catch a tummy bug,use your common sense, eat & drink sensibly & have a great time as we did.

Room Tip: go for 3rd floor pool & sea view excellent,

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

My husband and I stayed for a month at the Marconfort Beach Club from mid November to 13th of December.

This hotel is in a great location on the end of the prom into Torremolininos although in November Torremolininos sea front is very quiet there is enough open to be interesting.

To walk to the main town go along the sea front over the roundabouts with the Dolphins and large ladies on and look out for the giant orange (an advertising hoarding). Turn right up by Bizarre Ali Barber. It is a steep climb and not for the unfit or elderly and will take about 40 minutes. For those who do not fancy the walk there is aregular bus service from outside the hotel which costs 1.30 euros.

The public areas of the hotel are large with plenty of seating with free wifi which is very slow. But okay for reading emails for any downloading of daily newspapers etc. go to Burger King about a 15 minute stroll along the prom where the wifi code is given upon a purchase and the connection is good.

The room is large but spartan and dated. Two beds with memory foam mattresses polyester pillows. A ginormous wardrobe, very small dressing table and bedside cabinets with one small drawer. The room has a 21 inch tv high on the wall and shows BBC1 and 2, ITV1, Channel 4 and a some other English channels. There is one two pin plug and a very efficient hair dryer.

There is no room fridge or kettle, tea making is not provided in the rooms so if you like an early or late cuppa then take your own kettle and cups. You will find a complimentary bottle of water on arrival in your room, just ask at the piano bar for more when you want it. There is plenty of hot water and the best shower pressure I have ever had in a hotel. Hand soap and shower gel/shampoo is provided in a dispenser. The hotel does not provide pool towels so don't forget to pack one. The rooms have tiled floors so there is some room noise from inconsiderate people who shove their furniture around or who clop about in their heels late into the night.

Rooms on the pool side are all south facing and have a large balcony a with a wall in between allowing for good privacy. There is a round plastic table and two chairs and still plenty of room for buying a couple of inflatable lilos from the shop just up the road for four euros if you want some comfy private sun bathing. These rooms all have sea, town and mountain views. The sun is on them from just after breakfast until sunset. The rooms on the end of the hotel and end in 15 are family rooms and by the later afternoon are in the shade.

The pool area has a sunny aspect and the sun beds are of the hard plastic kind.

There is plenty of choice of food although in the fourth week of our stay fewer guests meant slightly less choice.

Just behind the reception is a conference room and Sport will be shown on the big screen by request. Another great facility is for a 20 euro deposit you can have a free loan bicycle for one hour and 3 euros for the second hour. Just ask at reception. Also there is a self service laundry facility 2 euros for the washer and 3 for the dryer.

Top tip is to walk up to the information centre which is on the roundabout with the statue of the two large ladies upon it and pick up the free English papers.

For a nice coffee (1.30 euros) and bask in the morning sun out of the wind walk to the right and where the shops are set back from the road by the area of grass you will find the Cafeteria Costa Lago. We went regularly each morning and on most mornings were give a free cake to share.

For a good well stocked supermarket that the locals use with prices for residents not holiday makers turn up the street by the Hotel Isabel and turn right.

This hotel has everything for a wonderful short or long stay.

Now for a couple of things you may not like.

As others have said it has had a problem with a bug. This seemed to be more prevalent amongst guests in the first two weeks of our stay.

I managed the whole stay without contracting the bug my husband unfortunately contracted the violent diarrhoea and sickness on our third day.

Food hygiene in this hotel is generally very good. Probably much better than most of the back street take always and greasy spoons that can be found in the uk. Problems will always arise when you have all inclusive and add to the mix frankly daft people who will be seen sniffing and man handling food only to put it back down for someone else to take. Also leaving their unsupervised children to prod and pick up food.

This bug is in the rooms and public areas of the hotel. The hotel was full of silly people who seem to accept they will be ill and worse are not reporting it to the manager. Some people announced their being ill in the morning and were in the dining room for soup at tea time. If you do not report your illness to the hotel they cannot have the opportunity to disinfect your room while you are in it or give it the deep clean it should have when you leave. On the uk NHS web site it says that you should not return to work until 48 hours after the last bout of diarrhoea or sickness to protect others so it beats me while you would inflict yourself on your fellow holiday makers and visit the dining room on the day or day after you have been so ill.

In order to eradicate this bug the guests need to play their part. But to be fair so does the hotel. Although a lot of attention is given to the dining room when the hotel is very busy as it was in the first three weeks of our stay the cleanliness of the hotel in some areas is lacking.

The lifts are very well used and guests carry food, alcohol and drinks back to their rooms as well as appearing to spit on the lift floors. The lifts and the reception areas are not kept clean enough at busy times.

The second element to this hotel which we did not enjoy was that the hotel gets very busy from a Friday afternoon to Sunday tea time with a lot of Spanish families. I have never been in a hotel with an environment which is much akin to being in a zoo! Shrieking and yelling in loud voices until one in the morning. Hoards of badly behaved children running feral and uncontrolled in the public areas and on the landings and some downright greedy behaviour in the dining room piling up several plates of food at a time much of it going to waste. Peace and tranquillity along with a good nights sleep returned on week nights.

Room Tip: High Floor Pool Side

Dear edgeWestonSuperMare :
Thank you very much indeed for your confidence in Marconfort Beach Hotel, and for taking a few minutes of your time to express your positive comments regarding your stay with us.
I also want to apologize for not having exceeded their expectations.
In relation to the illness of her husband and as we have said several times during their stay, the hotel makes every effort to maintain the standards of hygiene and food control, in fact you claim that there is no any problem with food.
Also I feel the discomfort caused by other customers on the weekends.
I hope that for your next visit it find everything to your satisfaction.
Has been a real pleasure meeting you.

Best Regards.

Stayed here for 10 nights on an AI basis from 1.12.12.Was a bit dubious about the "bug" scare
and in fact got laid low for 6 hours by a very violent stomach bug 4 days into holiday but because
I travel with the necessary pills was fine after this. The hotel is clean even providing a hand
sanitizer at the restaurant entrance, someting that was largely overlooked by the Spanish guests unless it was being policed. The food was good with a wide choice,a lot being home made and the pizza/pasta bar was an added bonus.Being constantly topped up the supplies were plentiful and when the hotel was busy even fruit slushies with breakfast. The rooms were adequate and it was good to have a lot of UK tv channels.Bathrooms are rather cramped and in ours the sink surround nearly overhung the toilet.Towels were changed daily and soap is provided in dispensers.Only 1 point in bedroom and the walls are a bit thin, just hope you dont get noisy neighbours.Drinks on the AI were of reasonable quality,in good suppy and available to 12 am.The daytime entertainment was good with several activities and each evening there was bingo,a quiz and a cabaret at 10pm.The indoor pool was very small,a great shame because there is room for a larger one and apart from 1 day it was well heated. We noticed that the Spanish guests did not shower before using the pool ignorring the signs to do so.The changing facilities are poor with only 1 small room and a toilet. All the public areas could do with more heating for the colder days.Outside the grounds and pools were good. Our overall opinion is that the Marconfort Beach Club Hotel is a well situated hotel, good value for money, pleasant staff who maybe need to smile and engage with the guests more. Will we return,Yes and look forward to doing so in 2013.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room ending in 1 to 14,its the sunny side

Have just come back from a few days stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. On arrival we were given the choice of a high or low floor for our room. We chose the 8th floor and had a lovely sea view right along the promenade. The beds were very comfy, felt like memory foam mattresses, and there were plenty of extra pillows, blankets etc. The whole place had a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff seemed very laid back. I enjoyed the food, plenty of variety for breakfast and lunch which isn't always the case with all inclusive. I liked the self service beer, wine and soft drinks in the restaurant (and the very refreshing sangria!). Bar service was also good, quick, plenty of variety and very generous measures. The area around the hotel is fairly quiet but we found plenty of shops open within a few minutes walk.
