“The price is right for the all round quality and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2010

Got back from the Sol Timor yeasterday with my mate and found it to be a pretty good hotel. The staff were helpful and speak good English. Our studio appartment was smallish with a compact balcony including 2 chairs and a small table and excellent views of the ocean. The cooking area is basic. Sink-2 hob stove- small fridge-basic cuttlery, pans etc. Room cleaned on a regular basis with new sheets and towels.

Being sports nuts, we enjoyed the tennis courts- 10 euros p/h with rackets and balls included. Sun loungers are 2.5 euro's p/d, so we just took towels onto the grass. Internet is expensive- 2 euro's for 15 mins. TIP Use Brogans cafe up the road on the corner at 1 euro for 20 mins. Pool entertainment includes water aerobics and water polo, and there's football on the tennis courts for the kids.

It was warm at night, so hired a fan for 10 euro's p/w (30 euro'sdeposit) SMALL portable air con is about 50 euro's for a week) TIP Take earplugs for the noisy fan, we did and got a reasonable sleep with a nice breeze! Didn't encounter any great noise at night, apart from my mate's trapped wind (from both ends!)

There's a Barclays cashpoint right next door to the hotel which was handy. I's say English/Irish dominated the hotel numbers, but there are also plenty of Spanish there.

It's an ideal family resort for those who just want average accomodation and entertainment, in exchange for an average budget.

Have a great time folks!

Adios!

the sol timor has great location and great views .the rooms are average but clean.a short walk up the promenade takes you to the busy main town with lots of night life.a walk in the other direction takes you to the beautiful marina .the pool is a good size but you have to pay for yor sunbed.food is just ok try and go for selfcatering as the food in the marina area is nice.

Stayed at Timor for first time this year with husband and three year old. Was told to expect kids club that catered from ages 1 upwards but on arrival that age limit was five and the club staff spoke mainly spanish where the children could not understand the shows etc.. The rooms are basic what you expect for the price but their is no air con any where in the hotel except for reception, at night where the entertainment is held their is no air con and even staff complained...the pool was filthy and the kiddies area was infested with ants and never cleaned..the only good thing I can say about the Timor is the location to the beach and marina. Bar closes every night at 12.30 and barmen won't even allow drinks to be brought outside. Our family will not be staying at a Sol Melia resort again.

Hi all. Just returned back from an eight night stay in the Timor Sol. Yes as the header suggests location was ideal but that is really only where the value lies. Having been on several sun holidays before and stayed in the usual 2 or 3 star resorts I really did not expect much. This room was however a little too small for my liking. The cooking facilities are not great, and as for eating al fresco our balcony overlooked a street and another block of apartments. The heat in the apartment at night was a little over powering. On the third night we had to leave the balcony door open going to bed, thank God for ear plugs! I never expect a 5* room for a 3* price but of all the apartments I've stayed in over the years the Timor Sol was definitely the cosiest shall we say! The sun loungers are €2.50 per day and the pool is large with a kiddies pool to the right. The hotel has daily activities for kids and seems very well catered towards families.
