“central for everything.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

arrived at 5.15am,due to a 10hour delay and was welcomed by a very friendly receptionist. upgraded us to a 1 bed apartment, even though we only booked a studio. very clean room, well managed hotel, good shop in the hotel, which was cheaper than the local supermarkets.central for everything, cafes ,restaurants, beach. Benalmadena marina is less than 200 yards away.Taxi rank outside the hotel front door(only 6 euro's to Torremolinos centre).superb prom to walk along. Pharmacy about 150 yards away.Even a travel agent 20 yards away to book those all important day trips,Gibraltar is a must. The only thing we missed was a tin opener. overall a perfect place to relax and enjoy a long awaited holiday.will be going again(I hope).

We spent 3 weeks at Sol Timor. The room was dated but clean. The kitchen was adequate. We did not require Ac as the breeeze from the ocean in the evening kept the room the perfect tempature. As seems to be the case in Europe the beds were twin but pushed together. They were hard but I had no trouble sleeping on them.
Pillows were great. We had hot water the entire time we were there but the pressure was light..We were on the ninth floor in a one bedroom suite and the view was clearly the best part of the room.full view of beach and grounds fabulous.
Maid service every second day never once during our stay were we bothered by knocking on the door from them.< they did not clean the kitchen>.
The service at the front desk was not what I would hope for at any hotel.they were not very knowledgeable about touring outside of the hotel. No concierge type service. We relied on the tourist bureau up the street from the hotel for information. With the exception of one girl<Monica>
I avoided the front desk after the first week. They were able to arrange a rental car for us.
The nicest person at the hotel had to be the gentleman working in the grocery store. He was always friendly and engaged in conversation.
We did not spend alot of time on the grounds as we were in Spain to tour. But the days we spent at the pool and on the beach were fabulous.Aside from the lounge chair costs.Happy hour between 5 and 6 was worth it.
The buffet was adequate but you cannot eat the same everyday.More variety needed.Good point is they had food all day buffet breakfast lunch and dinner. There was also entertainment at night but we did not attend.
I enjoyed the costa del sol and the sol timor and for the price the value was excellent.

Apartment very old and dated.Kitchen did not have electric kettle.Bathroom no hairdryer or bin.You could hire a kettle but as it is standard in most apartments we declined.Would not recommend these apartments as you could do a lot better for your money.

I can not praise this hotel and staff enough a truely great hotel with all the facities you could ask for and staff that were second to none. The upgrade and refit must be nearly complete now as I did not see any sign of wear and tear in both the public areas and our room every thing looked new.
Fantastic location as well, we will be returning Roy & Magi

Room Tip: It is worth paying the small amount extra for a studio upgrade

We travelled 3rd Oct - 10th Oct this year.

Good Points:
Location is brilliant, close to many bars and restaurants. Closer to Benamedena than it is the centre of Torremolinos.
The pool area was lovely and clean mostly.
Shop in complex - a little expensive though considering Lidl is a short walk away as is Carrefour.
From people we spoke to at the pool side there are two buildings 1 old that we were in and 1 new that everybody appeared to ask to be in, so if you do decide to stay here then ask to be situated in the building nearest the pool.

Bad Points:
2.50 euro for a sun lounger per day.

Apartment 3611:
The way the complex is laid our first room faced out onto a corridor with wood slats instead of windows and was quite noisy in the wee hours.
When we arrived, our room was less than clean and had a bad smell similar to stagnant water or sewage and when we plugged in the microwave the electricity tripped.
We brought this to the attention of reception 1 day after arrival and there was no apology in fact it seemed to us like this was normal. House keeping came up and poisoned the place with aerosol air freshener which was wore off after a couple of days and affected my asthma. The technician came up to check the electricity and simply told us to plug the microwave into another socket.
When the air freshener wore off we once again went to reception about it as it was worse this time around, (stale air freshener + stale sewage). We were given another room.

Room 3415:
Appeared cleaner than the last room, the electricity worked fine and there was no smell .... seemed like a palace until our last night when i went into the bathroom to have and shower and the person in the apartment above us was showering also and the water from their shower was dripping from our light switch and the ceiling was very damp!
They offered us another room if we felt we couldn't stay but we were leaving the next day and declined and hoped that the ceiling would remain where it was.

Both rooms were Studio standard ,,,, very small, if again I would go for 1 bedroom apartment and see how that would be. Furniture so dated and the beds were .... well used shall we say.

Room Tip: Building nearest the pool apparently is the place to be, end of corridor room for it to be quieter.

Just back from Sol Timor Apartments. Location is excellent, being seconds away from beach and shops, the only 2 downsides we found were the flies and noise. Firstly I would not advise going in Sept and Oct as the place is swarming with flies, as soon as you lay down on a sunbed the blighters land on you, after you brush them away they come back. This became really annoying after a few hours, we asked at reception why there were so many and was told it is the same every Sept but they do disappear by the end of October.
Also Sol Timor is not very quiet, this has nothing to do with the hotel, it's the people who stay there. Because the floors are all stone, you can hear people walking along corridors at all hours, then they have a conversation with their pals at the other end of the corridor at 3am shouting and balling, finally they slam the door to the room which must wake everyone - some people just do not have any respect for others. Apart from that we had a great time, we never ate in the hotel as there were so many restaurants to choose from in local vicinity - would I go back? probably not due to the noise factor, but that changes from day to day. Overall we enjoyed our short break at Sol Timor mainly because it was a very good price.

Room Tip: Don't go in September or early October due to flies. Take ear plugs due to noisy people
