“Sol Aloha Puerto sun holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Just returned from a week staying at the Sol Aloha Puerto hotel. Staff most courteous and helpful and helped us organise a motorised scooter for my husband who had walking difficulties. Arrived too late for dinner the first night but was promptly issued with a courtesy dinner next day as well as all the other food we had paid for. Junior suite fine, the balcony was brilliant and we didn't have to pay for sun, we had it from 11 a.m til 6 p.m, in room 1111. Beds a bit hard, and quite a bit of noise at night from the bars etc up on the road. Enjoyed the food at every meal, too nice, ate too much. We were not impressed to have to pay to switch on the fridge, had to buy 10 items, all water and cost us 21 euro. Also had to pay for the safe, 5 euro back. The entertainment was brilliant every night, the happy hour very happy indeed. Only one gripe, the marvellous Motown act was indeed that, first class. But was shocked at the lead singers cheap attempt at humour when minicking the legendary Nelson Mandela, even more disgraceful as they were from South Africa themselves. Ruined an otherwise brilliant night and plenty others who were there agreed. The proximity to the beach is wonderful and also to the marina, where I spent many happy hours. Didnt use the beds around the pool or garden, too hard to even get near one, some people do nothing else all day but bake under the sun. Much nicer anyway on the beach and the beds were so comfy and very reasonable. My husband with his motorised scooter headed up towards Torremolinos each morn and thoroughly enjoyed the joy of seeing so many out doing the same, enjoyed cappachinos in the excellent cafes along the way. Was disappointed the hotel could not get me on a trip to Granada, but did get to Gilraltar which was a truly worthwhile trip. The rooms were kept very clean and the staff were first class and so polite. Would definitely love to return. Only ate out one night in the excellent Spanish Garden right across the road. Had a nice time in the friendly Fig and Olive again right across the road, and the young man there was so helpful and fun to be around. Had a great night's entertainment courtesy of a golf group from Maynooth who sang and entertained for hours. Many golf groups the week we were there, a most popular place.

Room Tip: We were happy in block one, many seem to want block 3, can't see why, as we had the sun all day...

just returned from the sol aloha puerto hotel after a 9nt stay half board me and my wife had a fab stay the food was 5star the dishes were varied and tasty ,there were a mixture of dishes each night i/e pork beef chicken, various fish dishes plus italion every night so there is something for every one ,and it was hot and plentyfull we had the junior suite with sea and marina views which is well worth paying a little extra for as the views were fantastic with sun on balcony nearly all day the evening entertainment was ok some nights. we thought the hotel was more for the over thirties as there was not much for the children to do,we will be returning here and recomending the hotel to all our freinds

Room Tip: get junior suite with sea /marina view

Spent five nights with my five "geriatric" mates (all of us male and around the 70yrs of age group. Public rooms at the hotel were nice but the rooms were clean but a bit date4d and in need of some TLC but were ok for our needs. The swimming pool was ok but again needed some TLC as it was dirty around the edgers with many tiles missing.
The restaurant was very busy and somewhat impersonal but the food was good with a good choice although some dishes were cold.
The hotel is right on the beach with easy access and the prom is lovely to walk on. Although the address is Torremolinos it is virtually in Benalmadena which has a nice harbour, restaurants, bars and shops. Would recommend the hotel if you want basic. The rooms were originally apartments but are now called junior suites which means they have taken out the kitchen facilities apart from the fridge which you have to pay for. There are no cooking or tea making or washing up facilities.

Room Tip: Have to pay extra for sea facing and sun facing rooms.

This was our first visit to the Sol Aloha Puerto since the renovation and it's obvious how they paid for it- by charging for things other hotels give their guests for free. The safe was €18, you could have the fridge if you ordered 10 drinks and paid €21, their was no free wi fi and you had to pay a deposit to have a beach towel ( luckily we took our own). We had a suite which was nice as there was a separate bedroom and lounge area and a very sunny balcony. We booked bed and breakfast and initially we were impressed with the food until we realised it was cold or just warm every day. The best thing about this hotel is the location, it's very near the beach and a few bars and restaurants at the front of the hotel and a short stroll to the Marina. The carvery opposite the hotel is a must. We visited it twice- great food and staff.

We travelled out with friends for a long weekend break at the end of Sept 13.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms Clean and tidy and cleaned on a daily basis. Public areas very smart. Food was of an excellent standard with plenty of choice of hot and cold dishes. Good location in resort and fairly close to airport.

Only had five days here but most enjoyable. Good food, entertainment, pool area (plenty of sun beds!!) very clean and pleasant staff. Would definitely stay here again. If there was a 'down' side then it would be the sound transmission through the very thin walls!
