Arrived 14 June for our first visit to this hotel, just about 4* only negative some tired rooms. On arrival allocated room 2402 in block 2 sunnyside just about overlooking marina. The room reeked of smoke the aircon in the bedroom didnt work and in the afternoon the metal frame on the patio doors expanded so we couldnt open them. A visit to reception was met by sympathetic staff who told us that there was nothing they could do at that minute as the hotel was full BUT if we came back next day they could give us a room in block 3 (3310) overlooking the pool and beach. True to their word next day everything was resolved and we had a fantastic room which was definitely in alot better condition than the previous room.
Only one other gripe which was the lack of sunbeds. someone told us that there was a queue of people at 7.30am every morning waiting with towels for the doors to be unlocked to the pool area. The staff member with the keys and obviously a sense of humour used to shout ''On your marks'' and within minutes the sunbeds had gone. We could generally get one later in the day and not being sun worshippers didnt bother us too much. One observation when we were sitting on the balcony one day was that there are three blocks each of 144 rooms at 2 pax per room that would be 864 guests min. There are 106 sunbeds round the pool and about 40 on the grassy areas so if you want a bed ''On your marks''
The food was surprisingly good for the size of hotel with plenty of choices from Paella to a roast of beef, Pork or steak etc. There was also at least 3 or 4 types of fish which my wife being a fish eater was well pleased with.
We were on an all inclusive package and the drinks quality was good although you had to pay if you wanted premium brands. One point to note if you are on all inclusive, although you can order drinks at any bar snacks can only be taken in the main dining room. There is a charge for snacks at the outside bars.
Usually being critical of hotel in house entertainment I have to say that the entertainment team did an amazing job with loads of energy albeit with mime shows they were really well presented. The classical spanish flemenco show was excellent with a twist on the normal flamenco shows you usually see. The four Tops tribute was a must see with excellent vocals. As for the acrobats well lets just say Simon Cowell would not be impressed.
As others have said the location is fantastic almost on the beach with the marina close by just right for an after dinner stroll.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel with busses on the hour and at half past going into the centre of Torremolinos cost 1 Euro 20 cents. then its a nice walk back to the hotel along the prom lined with bars, restaurants and shops taking about an hour.
All in all we have a great relaxing holiday at this good standard hotel made all the better by the excellent staff.
