“Great location, not so great rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

This is the second time we've stayed here. The location is fantastic - 25euros from the Malaga airport, and right on the beach within walking distance to most decent places in the area.

The pools, and area around the pool, are spacious and clean and the hotel itself is beautifully presented with a cool airy lounge and a big reception with helpful people working there.

The room was an OK size, with a mini kitchenette and a huge balcony overlooking the beach. my only gripe is that the room was dated in its design and the bathroom door didnt have a handle so never really closed properly. There was also no bed, just a sofa bed, which was fine, but to get to the wardrobe we had to pull it to one side. Dealable, but not ideal.

Spent a lovely week in Sol Aloha Puerto Hotel Benalamadena with two friends from 16 - 23 ~April 2013. The hotel is very central right on the promenade and next to the Marina,. The hotel is good quality. The food is very good. There were a few negatives one was sleeping on the bed couch - the springs were so uncomfortable and would go through your body. I requested a third single bed in the living room but I was told it was not possible. The cleaner put a blanket under the sheet which improved the comfort a little bit. The other negative was no free wifi anywhere in the hotel. The wifi was €4 per hour which I purchased but it never worked. Did not like the lobby as there were no comfortable sofas to lounge around - all the sofas are now in the bar. Otherwise the hotel was in a very good location and food and entertainment was good. We also enjoyed happy hour from 6 - 7pm. Really thought the diningroom manager was a very nice and friendly guy.

Room Tip: Sea view was worth paying extra.

This hotel fulfills many requirements. Accommodation is clean and spacious, food is good with plenty of variety, entertainment every night is of a very high standard and the long flat walkway between Benalmadena and Torremolinos and beyond is flat and pleasant alongside the beach.
The distance from the beach to the hotel is literally yards through a private gate and the marina/harbour is just round the corner.
All in all a really good deal.
Travel further afield (eg Gibraltar, Malaga, Marbella, Mijas ) is easily arranged by bus which is quick and cheap.

Room Tip: Choose a sunny side room (supplements may apply) and ideally rooms 2901 - 2908

Have just returned from a 3 day break at the Sol Aloha Puerto. I found the hotel to be very clean and very quiet. Although the reception and bar area have been modernised the room was very dated (although it was spotlessly clean!). The entertainment in the hotel left a lot to be desired and I feel that this hotel would be more suited to mature people. All in all not a bad place to stay, choice of breakfast was great, the staff were mainly nice though one of the reception staff needed to brush up on his customer service skills!!!! Although I enjoyed the break I don't think I would return here as it was just a little too quiet and I would not recommend to anyone traveling with children (the Sol Timor, next door is more geared for children).

Enjoyed our stay again - the location is great, the hotel staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly, the meals were varied and very enjoyable & everywhere was very clean - the rooms are a little 'tired' but we understand refurbishment is underway - I agree that free wifi should be a standard and the fridge should be free too - however we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and we will be coming again!!

2nd time at this hotel in 7 months. Some upgrades (lifts) had been done which improved their efficiency. Very clean and excellent location. Staff are friendly and smile. Food is brilliant with excellent choice and great eating ambience. We find this hotel very difficult to pass when choosing our Costa Holiday. Only seconds from the beach. Rooms are brilliant with seperate lounge area. Worth paying extra for fridge use as you can stock up on your own snacks etc. You cannot go wrong here.

Only suggestion I would make which applies to other hotels as well as Sol Aloha, is that in 2013 free wi-fi in all areas should be standard. Do away with the (high) cost of unnecessary free toiletries in all rooms all the time, and put the money (very little) into free customer wi-fi. It will put you way ahead of the competition Sol Aloha. People will talk about free wi-fi but never about free soap.

All in all a great destination - recommend 100%

We stayed from 20th April until 27th April. Had a junior suite which was clean and comfy with a good tv with plenty of English stations for late night movies. New reception and bar area are lovely. Staff are polite and obliging if you need assistance but not over friendly which is perfect. Pool area is great and we never had a problem getting a bed even though some people leave towels out early people didn't seem to stay that long. You do have to pay twenty euro for fridge with ten drinks in it but at almost every hotel we have stayed in we had to pay extra for fridge and safe so cannot understand why people seem surprised. Location of hotel is perfect. Three mins walk to the marina, ten minutes to the carihuela with all its restaurants and shops, thirty minute walk to Torremolinos and only across the road from the lovely beach. Last but most important food!! Normally a picky eater with a husband who loves most food I was so. Impressed with the food, every kind of salad, lots of fish including smoked salmon for breakfast. Every kind of fresh fruit for breakfast and after dinner, roast beef that was so tasty I had seconds. I eat more and healthier than on any other holiday I have been on. We are at that nice stage when we can afford a few nice holidays a year and we usually stay at four star hotels in Spain, Italy and Canaries and I have to say the Aloha is up there with the best of them.

Room Tip: More expensive for rooms on sunny side so depends on how much time you spend in room during dayligh...
