“Beware of the lifts!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

The improvements to this hotel are great. We have stayed here many times over the last 16 years and everything is much better - including the food. The staff appear happier than last time we stayed and the bar and lounge areas are beautiful. The only problem was the lift in block 3. The doors occasionally close on you - at least 3 people were hurt and although the management said they had been fixed, it was still happening. I got trapped in the doors on my last day and hurt my arm and shoulder quite badly but I didn't want to make a fuss as I just wanted to get home. There were a lot of elderly, frail people staying (5th - 12th Feb) and somebody could get badly hurt if this is not resolved. I love the hotel and the position overlooking the marina and will definately stay again. The park in Arroya is well worth a visit as are the lakes and mountains around El Chorro.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool or marina on a high floor- sunny and with lovely views

“Great Week Away in the Sun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

We stayed at this hotel from 3rd February to 10th February 2013. We have stayed in Costa del sol on many occcasions and I have to say this hotel was so nice. It was situated in a great place, very central to Benalmadena and Torremolinos. Anice setting over looking the sea and a lovely clean beach. The area was kept really clean. Going back to the hotel, everything was good about it, clean, comfortable and it served good food. The choice of dishes that were available in the restaurant at night were really nice and we had such a selection of dishes from fresh fish to all meats, pastas, salads and a good selection of sweets. The staff worked very hard and were always kept busy. Very pleasant staff, who always greeted you when entering the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to anybody, and plan to return there again later in the year.

Room Tip: Our room was quiet, we had a sea view from the side of the hotel which was nice, most of the rooms a...

“A Wonderful Experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

The Aloha Puerto Sol is situated in the Montemar district of Torremolinos, only metres from the Benalmádena border. Its location is difficult to better. The rear garden exit leading directly onto the Paseo Maritimo and the beach, and situated there adjacent to two Chiringuitos (merenderos) About fifty metres to the beautiful Marina. The front of the hotel looks onto a veritable rosary of bars, restaurants and shops.. Its an excellent hotel with great facilities and amenities. Bright rooms are kept pristine by the housekeeping department. Reception staff are pleasent and helpful. I found the food to be of a high standard and of an extensive variety. The dining room staff are truly excellent. The fact that some of them have been there for thirty years is testimony to the sattisfaction they both give and recieve. I take great issue with the review sent in by JAMES 4517. It is spiteful and reeks of someone with an axe to grind. If this hotel is as he says the worst he has ever been in then he must frequent the plushest hotels in Las vegas, Paris, Tuscany and Amalfi. He is somehow predjudiced. (There is a lift direct to the pool from the foyer...guess he missed it) If you visit this hotel be sure to cross the Calle Salvador Allende and visit, Dixies...The Full House...Champagne Charlies...and The Office Bar. I would alo reccomend a visit to Carlos Pub up on the Carattera just over the Benalmádena border.

Room Tip: Its all a matter of cost. If you want a room overlooking the Pool, the sea or the Marina it will cos...

“First class hotel in a poor resort...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The hotel is faultless. I have stayed in many four star hotels and this is one of the best. The location next to the marina is excellent, with many bars and restaurants around the area. The airport is only 15 minutes drive from the hotel also. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and is due for closure over the winter months. The reception and lounge/ bar area has been done but the dining room and swimming pools are due to be done soon. However, they are not in too bad a condition currently. The food was exceptional hence the stars. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice with cold meats, cereals, hot full English breakfast on offer, pastries, and plenty of fruit and choice for everyone. We opted for half board, and I have to say it saved us a small fortune due to the obscene costs of some of the local bars/restaurants. There was plenty of choice for everyone, although the dining room itself was a little noisy at times. The rooms were brilliant, with lots of storage and the added bonus of a separate lounge area provided so much extra room. The entertainment wasn't bad, and I have high standards. There were a couple of duos, an exceptional flamenco classical espanol night which took my breath away, and also a grease night and drag act duo. Some of the entertainment was cheesy but this added to our amusement. The entertainment suited most ages, and from 9 til 10.30 was ideal for us after evening meal before we ventured out to the local bars which don't awaken until 10 at the earliest. My only criticism would be the local area. Do your research before hand. Bars and restaurants close up for the season in October so many were closed. Also, the bars were quite expensive possibly due to the marina being so close but 10 euros for two drinks was average. Many of the guests for this hotel choose to stay within the grounds which is ideal if you don't wish to venture out. However, I would say its a great base for trips to Malaga, Nerja, Mijas, Fuengirola or the water/ holiday parks in benalmadena which are great for kids. The ferry from Benalmadena marina to Fuengirola is ideal to visit the market on a Tuesday or Sunday. Overall, a fantastic hotel, but the surrounding bars need to wake up to the tourists and open earlier in the evening or at all in some cases. Seems the area is aimed at the older retired age range which provides a peaceful environment but our experience was of a ghost town after sunset. I would not hesitate to book again with a sol hotel and although I wouldn't return to the area this is definitely a hotel worth watching out for as the refurbs are sure to make it stand out even more so. We grabbed a bargain with Travel republic hotel and flights.. be sure to add on the transfer as it was exceptional for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for sunny side / marina on a high floor for best views
