The hotel is faultless. I have stayed in many four star hotels and this is one of the best. The location next to the marina is excellent, with many bars and restaurants around the area. The airport is only 15 minutes drive from the hotel also. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and is due for closure over the winter months. The reception and lounge/ bar area has been done but the dining room and swimming pools are due to be done soon. However, they are not in too bad a condition currently. The food was exceptional hence the stars. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice with cold meats, cereals, hot full English breakfast on offer, pastries, and plenty of fruit and choice for everyone. We opted for half board, and I have to say it saved us a small fortune due to the obscene costs of some of the local bars/restaurants. There was plenty of choice for everyone, although the dining room itself was a little noisy at times. The rooms were brilliant, with lots of storage and the added bonus of a separate lounge area provided so much extra room. The entertainment wasn't bad, and I have high standards. There were a couple of duos, an exceptional flamenco classical espanol night which took my breath away, and also a grease night and drag act duo. Some of the entertainment was cheesy but this added to our amusement. The entertainment suited most ages, and from 9 til 10.30 was ideal for us after evening meal before we ventured out to the local bars which don't awaken until 10 at the earliest. My only criticism would be the local area. Do your research before hand. Bars and restaurants close up for the season in October so many were closed. Also, the bars were quite expensive possibly due to the marina being so close but 10 euros for two drinks was average. Many of the guests for this hotel choose to stay within the grounds which is ideal if you don't wish to venture out. However, I would say its a great base for trips to Malaga, Nerja, Mijas, Fuengirola or the water/ holiday parks in benalmadena which are great for kids. The ferry from Benalmadena marina to Fuengirola is ideal to visit the market on a Tuesday or Sunday. Overall, a fantastic hotel, but the surrounding bars need to wake up to the tourists and open earlier in the evening or at all in some cases. Seems the area is aimed at the older retired age range which provides a peaceful environment but our experience was of a ghost town after sunset. I would not hesitate to book again with a sol hotel and although I wouldn't return to the area this is definitely a hotel worth watching out for as the refurbs are sure to make it stand out even more so. We grabbed a bargain with Travel republic hotel and flights.. be sure to add on the transfer as it was exceptional for the price.
Room Tip: Ask for sunny side / marina on a high floor for best views
