“Love the Aloha Puerto”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We have visited the Aloha Puerto on a number of occasions and really enjoy staying there. We stayed for 3 weeks in March and were sorry to leave.
The reception area, bar and lounge were all refurbished last winter and it is a great improvement.
All the apartments/suites consist of a Bedroom, lounge with flat screen TV sofa etc and a bathroom, some but not all have been refurbished. Best to ask for a pool view room, costs a bit more but well worth it. The suites are kept clean and tidy by the staff with towels changed daily and sheets every two or three days.
The dining room (which I believe will be refurbished this winter) leaves a bit to be desired. My main complaint is that they do not use table cloths on the tables this for me lowers the ambiance and certainly creates noise similar to a canteen! That said the food is good with lots of options. They do show cooking at breakfast and dinner so you can always get something freshly cooked. Don't expect much chat from the waiters, most are a bit long in the tooth and do their job but that's it.
Evening entertainment is varied and similar to most spanish hotels, there are a number of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the Marina at Benalmadina with the hotel garden leading down to the promenade.
All things considered this is an ideal hotel for those wishing a relaxing holiday in the Winter. My daughter visited in the summer with her family and said it was ideal for her two boys age 12 and 14. Frankly I find some of the negative reviews beyond belief, but everyone is entitled to their opinion

Room Tip: Pool View room best by far.

“horrible place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We stayed in Sol Aloha Puerto "Hotel" from 17 - 23 of September. Booked holidays online with included transfer trough Travel Republic. When we first arrived went to the reception to check in.Reception was really lovely, so we just couldn’t wait to see our room. There were no Porters to take our luggage up to our room. We Had booked Junior suit with sea view, non-smoking. On a way up to our room First shock was the lift, which looked like a lift from 1940. When we opened the door to our room we were astonished at how poor looking our room was. Room looked more like a 2 star apartment, with a strong smell of damp. Not like a 4* hotel Junior suite room. We thought they have made a mistake, so we went down to ask for a different room. Receptionist said that all rooms are the same, that it doesn’t matter Junior Suite or Standard room, it’s all the same. And no matter what, they r fully booked anyway. Asked to speak to the manager, who offered to us a sea view room for an extra 10 euros per night. After seeing the sea view room, we realised that it was exactly the same as our room. We booked half-board. Which we regretted because food was absolutely disgusting. It was buffet with big choice of uneatable food.
Hot food was cold, Breakfast glasses were dirty, looked like they don’t have a dishwasher there, because glasses just looked like rinsed with water. Had to polish breakfast glasses myself. Last 4 days i didn’t even had my breakfast. Staff never paid any attention to anything. Service very poor. No knowledge of English language.
If u want to use the safe which is in ur room, have to pay 20euros for the key. If u want to use beach towels- 10 euros for towel. And then to change them 1euro each time!
It wasn’t a hotel, it was 3 block apartment building.
Very disappointing and would NEVER go back again…
I could go on and on,just not too shure if i have enough place to write it all....

“"Must be good"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Our first stay at Sol Aloha Puerto but met other guests who have holidayed here for 30 years so it must be good. A very impressive foyer and sea view sitting area with pleasant reception staff, we had room 1007 on ground floor which was very quiet saying the hotel was full.
Food as with all Sol Hotels was 5* and highly recommended, entertainment was ok but nothing to write home about. The putting towels on sun beds to reserve them causes a bit of a problem here aspecialy when you take theres off and put yours on (just lie on em and pretend to be asleep) is the best policy, why should the same people have em every day when we`v all payed the same price to stay there.Great location and service bus stops outside every 30 minutes some nice friendly bars within a 5 mins walk, all in all could`nt fault it.
Will definatly be going back soon.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed here for 4 nights in October. Arrived on a Sunday at 15.00 however check in was very slow - only one person on the reception. We had requested marina view room which we got on the 5th floor. The room was fine and we got the fridge turned on (you have to buy 10 drinks min €21). Cleaner in early every morning who did a great job. Breakfast was good and the new reception/bar area is lovely with great sea views.

The hotel is in a great location with lots of good/cheap restaurants/bars near by. Overall I would recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Marina view room (block 3) highly recommended

“Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Probably have been here about five times now. Perfect location and amazing food. The hotel had a refurb last year with all new sofas and reception area. I believe they are having another refub involving the rooms this year. I hope so because the beds were a bit hard and uncomfortable Would always stay here because we love it.
