“Great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Just returned from the Cervantes and after reading some of the reviews before going we were a bit apprehensive but we had a great time. The only gripe we had were the beds were quite hard and the pillows were thin but apart from that everything was fine. The location was perfect right in the town if you wanted to go to the beach and did not fancy the steps the lift was only 2 mins walk away. The service in the hotel was always quick and polite. The longest I had to wait to be served was only around 3 minutes most of the time service was immediate. We were on the first floor some of the reviews complaining about the wait for lifts didn't really effect us as we went up the stairs most of the time anyway. Always managed to get a sunned By the pool when we wanted. Seating on the patio area in the evening was quite difficult only managed to sit out the twice. But all in all it was good value for money and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Could be noisy on the lower floors on friday and saturday nights

We have just had a week at this hotel and had a great time. We are a family of 5 and there was something for all of us.

Firstly, the sunbeds (which are a main concern when your holiday) do get taken up quite quickly around the pool but it is what you expect when your abroad. I got up each morning (as did lots of other people) to save the beds before breakfast and these were still saved once we had eaten breakfast. The pool steward does monitor the sunbeds but we didn't have a problem with this. He puts a ticket on your bed, giving you 1 hour before he returns, if you haven't been back in this hour he will remove your towel to let someone else have the bed.

The drinks are served in plastic cups but you would rather have this than broken glass on the floor and you can visit the bar as many times as you like so even though they are in small cups, you can get a fresh drink whenever you want one.

We found the bedrooms very clean, as was the whole hotel. The cleaners do seem to spend all day cleaning so no complaints there. The beds were a little hard and the pillow a bit flat but it didn't affect sleeping and as there was air con in the rooms it was made them feel quite comfortable.

I would say it is definitely a 4 star hotel, the staff are friendly and helpful and the cleanliness of the hotel is what you would expect.

We, like everyone else, read the comments before we came on holiday and I was concerned with some of the reviews. Don't believe all you read, overall we had a great holiday and would definitely recommend it.

Pro's -
1- this hotel has a sun bed policing policy. If you leave a bed unattended for over an hour the life guard removes the towels so other people can use them - all hotels should do this!!
2- great location, get the train from the airport to Torremelinos and walk 200 yards to your hotel.
3- it's clean. We took sanitising wipes away with us. We didn't need them.

Cons-
1. The food is mediocre. Don't go all inclusive. There are some brilliant restaurants in the local area.
2. The bar prices are VERY expensive. €4.40 for 2 small cups of slush for the kids.
3. The hotel advertises WIFI. Don't be fooled, IT'S NOT FREE. it's €5 a day if you want to use it. It's 2013!! Give your guests an hours free wifi each day ! (Not much to ask).
Mixed review from me. Doubt I'd stay here again unless I found it on a cheap deal.

So, i decided to take the mrs on a short break for 3 nights to torremolinos. It cost £700 altogether, which I thought was quite pricey! When we got to the hotel at 11am, we were "greeted" by a rude woman at reception who told us in a short sharp way, 'room not ready, come back later' to which we replied 'what time?' We were told 2 pm!!! This put me in a bad mood straight off and we went to have a look around the area, after getting up at 2am to fly, all we wanted was to have a lie down for half an hour....when we eventually got to the room, the smell of stale cigarettes hits you as soon as you open the door (we bought an air freshner) the room was clean and towels were changed everyday. Our room was overlooking some side street so wasn't a pool view or sea view.
The lifts at the hotel are a nightmare, so use the stairs unless you're on the 8th floor, lol.
Positives: the 9th floor with the swimming pool on the roof was great and a sun trap! The bar wasn't too expensive, a pint was €3.

So, I know I probabaly sound really depressing and snooty, but I'm used to travelling with Thomson and this hotel for the £110 per night we paid was a bit expensive. I didnt see kids club and the entertainme t was pretty poor. It says its 4 star, but I would say more 2 star because of the rooms and staff being rude. Oh and watch out for the maids who start knocking doors at 8am everyday !!!!

To start with I must say that it is 30 years since our last visit to this hotel.
Then it was a quite classy establishment well worthy of its 4 stars. However that standard has not been maintained.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful in reception. The room as adequate although a little dated but did have fresh towels each day and the balcony was very large with a sea view. The food was just adequate.Plenty of choice for breakfast but dinner was a little boring there not being a great variety of choice.eg two choice of fish on same menue fried hake or grilled hake.Desert was extremely limited baked apple and varied custards every day with the odd gateaux Tables for four people had only been set out for two and you had to get any extra cutlery you needed yourself. The entertainment was very limited consisting in the main of a keyboard player every night we were there. This didn't concern us too much as we always go out at night. The pool area tended to be overcrowded and the grassed areas were very sparce of grass but access to sunbeds was not too bad.The hotel is well sited for shops, bars and the beach. We were only there for four days so it wasn.t such bad value for the money we paid.Four days were enough wouldn't have liked to stay there any longer.Infact we wouldn' stay there again,

Room Tip: asked for low level as lift access can be a bind
