This hotel is spotless and the staff are lovely, however there is no entertainment although brochure claims there is. The pool area has inadequate seating area and you have to queue if you want a space. We were there with a young baby and had to go to the beach as we were unable to queue. Not much variety on the menu and we were not allowed a late check out even although we were prepared to pay the £30 charge. It did not merit a 4 star rating

5 of us went to the Gran Hotel Cervantes for 1 week 13 October 2012.On arrival I was impressed with the modern decor and reception service but things went downhill from there. The hotel was very busy that first night but late discovered that was the second of the 2 nights entertainment when the locals come from far and wide for their dancing.Arriving late we were just in time for dinner but not impressed by what was served up.I gave them the benefit of the doubt because of the time we arrived but next morning for breakfast and thereafter there was no improvement.Basically food was always running out , what was there was not warm in particular the soup.Personally I feel soup should alaways be piping hot.Talking to other people there has been a dip in service and quality since they introduced all inclusive , which we were.
Finally the roof top pool , this was to be adult only , but there were always children there. And being no supervision this is an accident waiting to happen. Here there is no bar and is a bit of a trek from the 9th floor to get a drink or food.My wife slipped on the stairs second day there and after reporting the incident management never followed up to see if she was ok.In short none of us will be back.

Room Tip: Avoid front rooms they look out onto busy street

This hotel is centrally located and has a luxurious feel to it, and is by all accounts, from locals we met, very well established over a number of decades in Torremolinos. The quality and variety of the food is excellent, with dining on a buffet basis. There are plenty of healthy choices available for the diet conscious. The rooms are spacious enough for its star rating and provide excellent sea views for the most part. The lounge and bar areas are comfortable, relaxed with tastefully modern decor. However, getting to the bar for all inclusive can be a struggle in the high season, we visited in August with a cut off point rather earlier than you might like, with drinks thereafter being charged as normal out with the all inclusive deal. Securing a lounger at the pool after 10.05am is near impossible unless you have a pair of running spikes and an olympic track record. The doors open to the pool garden at 10am sharp with the ensuing land grab, this could be better managed, as on many occasions we observed people reserving loungers with their towel and disappearing for 90% of the day. On the whole the staff were very helpful and the quality and value of the accommodation and food cannot be faulted, the only issues being the difficulty in accessing bar and pool facilities in high season. Perhaps a stay in May or June would be more relaxing.

Room Tip: Its worth paying a little extra for a sea view. Get down to the restaurant early for the best select...

The lobby was beautifully decorated but the rooms needed attention. Still not sure whether the room had been upgraded as the decor was very dated but clean. The room lacked power outlets to charge phones etc. and the bathroom was very cramped.
Having said that, the location was fantastic and far overcame the minor issues of the room (which had a spectacular view of the town and hills.
One thing to be very wary of is there is an astronomical charge to use the internet - €22 per connection for three days.Needless to say we declined paying the €88 to use our phones and iPad and went to local bars and restaurants to connect for free.

A very modern looking hotel which is spotlessly clean throughout. We stayed at the beginning of October and it was still very busy. The pool area is quite large although we did struggle to find a good spot as the grassed areas were a bit muddy (possibly due to it being so dry for the whole of the summer season, and then the flooding shortly before we arrived?)

Our room was situated on the second floor towards the back of the hotel, we overlooked a lovely pedestrianised street with a marble statue (can't remember who it was), lots of trees (which the birds roosted in, so it was a little noisy at early evening, but once patio doors closed we couldn't hear them) but not a bad noise, no traffic or rowdy bars etc. The room itself was a twin and was quite spacious. The bed was comfortable but I have to agree with the other reviewers, very strange long thin pillows, but this was easily sorted I just asked for an extra pillow and problem solved. The bathroom was spottless, with the usual bath (shower above), toilet, bidet & sink all marble and tiled.

Generally the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, reception staff were a little surly, but couldn't fault the bar and restaurant staff.

I would say the only thing that lets this hotel down is the food, we stayed on an all inclusive basis, and whilst I am not a particularly fussy eater, it was all very samey each day in terms of meat dishes, it was a very similar sauce with a different type of meat. Good choice of salads though. The deserts all looked different but tasted exactly the same! Breakfast was probably the best meal of the day with lots of choice from hot and cold selections, but could do with having more feshly cut fruit salads rather than tinned peaches/pineapples.

Overall, a good short break with the girls in a good location within Torremolinos, close to the public lift for the beach.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool benefit from afternoon sun. Located in a quieter area so no real traffic...
