We tried to eat here as from the outside looked welcoming when entered a half empty restaurant awaits with a lady asking if we have booked off course we hadn't as we rarely do on holiday but did not think it would be an issue with there being plenty empty tables but we where told very matter of factly you had to book!! To be honest if restaurants in this day of age can turn business away they must be over charging for there food as I can't see how empty tables make money!! Needless to say we found other much busier restaurants happy to seat us and take our money!!

its the only place in the area that you have to book ?? cos its the best an the food is so good and the prices are great well done to Sharon and her staff

Having read the reviews and not knowing the area at all, we booked well before our week's visit to Torremolinos. How disappointed we were to arrive in plenty of time ("we don't open until 7pm and don't really cater for children") to find a notice on the door to say that they were closed for two days. Now, I would have thought that any caring host would have a way of contacting guests to let them know before they committed to a 19 euro return taxi trip whatever the reason for temporary closure. Should have anticipated it as the tone on the phone when booking was a bit surly. Very disappointed after reading the reviews on the food but that is only part of the restaurant experience.

Back in Montemar, and back in Kates. Sharon is a pleasant and helpful host, good humoured and honestly informative. Peter is at his very best with the 10oz sirloin steak. This is not to be missed - a three course meal including this magnificent sirloin for €15 - great value and great food. If you don't like steak there are many options for a good three course meal at €10.
The place is always booked out, to get in call a day or two in advance. The dining room is old Irish Cottage style and comfortable. This is what it is, not Spanish but simply a great restaurant for the many visitors in this area. And some Spanish customers too.
