“Needs improvement.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

Hungry on our second last night in Torremolinos after an evening of shopping, we decided to try out Restaurant Tenerife, having had good luck previous nights sampling local restaurants.

The restaurant is located just off of the main shopping lane, so it's quiet with some nice residual noise from the shops and people. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the cool breeze and ambiance.

We both chose to go with the prix fixe menu they had on hand that night. For myself, the pesto spaghetti to start, with a steak, potatoes, mushrooms, and Bordeaux sauce for the main. For my wife, prosciutto and melon to start, with a steak, potatoes, mushrooms and peppercorn sauce for the main. Included with each prix fixe was a half bottle of wine, so we shared a bottle as well.

The starters were quite good - huge portion of spaghetti with a tasty pesto sauce, and nice salted pork with individually cubed pieces of melon. Good start!

The wine was typical cheaper Spanish far, but nicer than most of the vinegary house reds we'd drank up to this point.

Our mains were up next. The steaks were cooked decently, however my wife had a bad cut, with too much fat, and quite gristly. Mine was fine. The potatoes were fantastic, as was the mushroom mix. Unfortunately the sauces with the steaks were absolutely inedible. Thankfully, we had requested them on the side, otherwise they would have ruined the meat! Each tasted rancid, and almost like detergents. Stay away and just order plain if you're having steak!

Dessert was lacking - just a couple of scoops of ice cream with a cookie. Nothing special.

Our waiter was superb - quiet, unassuming, but very polite, very quick, and very nice. He treated us to after meal Amarettos on the house as well - a very nice touch!

Overall though, we were let down by the meal - despite the great waiter, solid starters and the good wine included, the steaks were just not of a good enough quality to warrant the price, especially with so much competition offering similar food. For that reason, we would not visit again if in Torremolinos.

“A find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

My husband and I had given up on good food in Torremolinos when we chanced upon this little French restaurant tucked into a side street. Enjoyed it so much that we ate there twice. The crepe au salmon were excellent accompanied by a little salad with a North African flavor. The chef came out to chat and talk food. Simple but a delicious dining experience. Heather

“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2011

Visited with 4 friends staying in Torremolinos, girls holiday, stumbled upon the restaurant one evening. The chef was brilliant, very charming and interesting, the waiter was quiet but ok. The food was brilliant home cooked,The only critiscism was we ordered cheesecake and were given a sort of sponge torte, which was fine, but we fancied cheesecake.
