“Good hotel and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

On arrival staff were friendly and helpful, the room was a good size and was clean. All rooms apparently have a sea view which was nice and we were on the 7th floor so we didn't experience any noise. The only down side to the room was that the pillows were really uncomfortable, however we were not there long enough to raise concerns with the staff.

The pool overlooked the sea, the only criticism here was the lack of beds, we went in April so it may be a problem in the height of season but the area was well kept and again clean. We ended up paying 9 euros on the first day for two seats on the beach opposite the hotel, the second day we got to the pool around 10am and managed to secure two seats.

Good location, a short walk to restaurants and a lovely promenade walk. There is a lift nearby for people who have problems with walking up stairs.

The breakfast bar was well stocked with a wide variety of food and the staff were welcoming. However, It was very noisy in the restaurant!

We would return as it was a nice hotel and good value.

Room Tip: Higher floors facing the sea/ pool are very nice

On a sunny mini Break, we absolutely loved our stay at Melia Costa del Sol. Great large family room with massive balcony and fantastic sea view/sunset, so much choice for breakfast/dinner.The beach is just across the hotel and the weather was just amazing. Will come back again and can't wait :)

The location of the hotel is great. However the hotel itself is at best a 3 star. Paint is peeling from the walls and ceilings in both rooms I have been in. There is mold in the bathrooms, the air conditioning is turned off for the season regardless of the tempature in your room. My room was @ eighty degrees and there was no option but to open a window and let the hot sun in. I had to stay on the patio just to be able to be in my room. When I asked for air conditioning or a fan I was told it would cool off at night. No air conditioning in the spring regardless of the tempature. The carpet is stained and worn. The walls are all scuffed up and worn. This hotel is need of a facelift and some comfort.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us on TripAdvisor.
We are sorry that you had some disappointing comments to make.

Please rest assured we have taken all your points on board for immediate consideration as this was clearly not up to our usual Melia Hotels International standards.

We have been fortunate to receive many complimentary reviews since the hotel's opening in and I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again for a second visit.

I stayed here for 5 nights and attended a conference during Easter 2014. The hotel appears as in the photos, clean and tidy. The service personnel are polite attentive and efficient. The breakfast has something for all dietary requirements (including gluten free rye bread and freshly pressed juice).

The included wifi was pretty solid in the rooms (but became a little iffy around midnight for some reason). The conference facilities were pristine. The hotel also has it's own elevator to take you most of the way up the cliff behind to access the town which is set back from the breach front.

The spa did require an extra payment however was a welcome facility for me to de-stress mid-conference. It was small, but had the essential water jet pool, wet steam room and dry sauna room.

With the beach promenade of Torremolinos right in front of the hotel, it was also easy to get some early morning exercise before my meetings.

This is a well run, functioning business or leisure hotel for the Costa del Sol.

NOTE: while I was there, they were working on the look of the facade, and so there is work happening during the day.

NOTE2: It was quite cool still in April and so I did get to test how well the air conditioning works.

Room Tip: I enjoyed having a patio window that saw part of the beach, and slept with it partly open to hear th...

Positives - I think every room has a balcony. We had a nice view of the ocean.

Buffet breakfast was lovely - there's everything you'd expect plus extras like smoked salmon and prosecco.

Location is right in front of the beach

Had a massage in the spa - it was the best massage I've ever had.

Staff were very friendly.

It was good value for money.

Free WIFI and you could even still access it when you were round the pool and on the beach directly in front of the hotel!! Not quite quick enough to stream movies but hey ho, that's not what you're there for!

Negatives - Pool quite small

Rooms are nice, large, but a bit worn (this didn't really bother us given the price but I know some people are fussy)

We stayed here to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary, emailed them in advance to let them know hoping we'd get an upgrade or something (we stayed at the Melia Dubai for my 30th and they upgraded our room for free and left birthday cake in the room!) but at Melia Costa Del Sol they didn't even acknowledge that it was a special occasion. They weren't even that busy so I don't know why they didn't just upgrade us to a junior suite.

On the last day we left our bags with the porter for a few hours after we'd checked out. When we came to collect them no-one knew anything about them. Eventually my husband was sent to an unlocked room where he found them (a member of staff was getting changed in there). Very random and not very secure.

You have to pay to use the Turkish bath/sauna/spa which they're not open about on their website. I personally think it should be free, but it was about 18 Euros per person. That said, I paid about 40 euros for use of the spa and a 25 min massage after, and the massage was AMAZING. I felt like an actual weight had been lifted!

Overall we had a nice, relaxing (and relatively cheap!) break. The weather in early April was SO hot. Torremolinos is a bit of a culture vacuum, but if you want a simple beach break with access to lots of beach front bars and restaurants it's ideal.

OMG WHILE YOU'RE IN TORREMOLINOS MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE RESTAURANT CALLED GRANVINOS. The food there is great.

I had a great ocean view from my room and watched the sun rise from the balcony. Previous reviews already discussed the positives. The buffet was plentiful and plenty to do. Can't go wrong staying here.

This is not a new hotel that has been going on for years in its current form. I have been going there for years. Now I see that they started to make some visual changes on the outside and the restaurant area.
Rooms are all with balconies and are rather spacious. Internet is fast.
Breakfast is very good. Dinner buffet is 23EUR. Well worth it.
Its has a well sized pool and is located on the beach with just a road to cross.
This is certainly not Malaga. Torremolinos is small little vacation strip.
Hotel most of the times is full of tour groups.
