“A very enjoyable family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Myself, husband and 18 month old son had a lovely time at this hotel this week. We paid extra for the sea view room and were very glad we did as having a toddler to keep an eye on meant we could sun bathe on the balcony for a little bit in the morning while he was occupied with his toys. Otherwise we were running around after the little one on the hotel grounds. He enjoyed chasing the local cats and oohing at the birds. Activity wise, it was too cold to use the outdoor pools but there was an indoor one. The off season meant that the beach was relatively empty also. Evening entertainment we didnt really stick around for as we had to put the toddler to bed.

Food, we had to go across to the other hotel but this was a short trip and was quite nice to get out for a walk. The offer and choice was good at all times (we went full board) but a little salty/garlicky for my taste however my hubby didnt think so. We had to pay for drinks and were reasonably priced apart from the juices which was more than water or wine.

The staff were nice, if you made the effort to speak to them in Spanish then they made an effort with you, and they loved my son so that always helped.

The hotel were full of oldies but it added to the calm of the hotel. I liked it a lot and will probably go back again but not during high summer as it would be too busy for me! Also, was only 10 mins away from airport so perfect distance for travelling with a kid.

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view. Its worth it.

Dear jvoc,
I am glad that you had a relaxing time with your family. I am assuming that your stay was in the early part of February as we were finishing the renovation of the kitchens and there offered all the meals in the other dining room on the complex. In the normal way of things the restaurant on the garden floor of the Don Pablo is always open.
Winter guests tend to be an older crowd, so the pace in pretty slow. Once we get in to April and May the hotels get a bit busier but, having nine pools and a choice of terraces and bars, it doesn't tend to get overwhelming.
Come back in spring or autumn!
Thanks for writing in.
Kind regards,

“Great hotel in Winter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Stayed again at this hotel, 4th time. Rooms very clean, but bed spead, linen looking tired.
We had to have the food in the Pedro/Marco dining room, and I do not know if it inferior place to dine in, but the food was not as good as previous times, no ice cream one night and the sorbet looked in edible. The meats were not as nice and bacon very fatty and undercooked.
But it has a lovely sitting out area, best there is and you can sunbath out of the wind even in January.
Nice Irish bar just a few doors away that was lively.

Room Tip: Choose a sunny side, nice and quiet

“Dining in another hotel is not for me.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Sorry to say this brute of a hotel was rather disappointing- food reasonable however directed to a sister hotel for meals which I consider unacceptable. When I booked this hotel months ago it included free wifi! On arrival and every other day I had to visit reception for ages to arrange connection.
Sorry Sol Don Pedro - on this occasion you have failed.

Dear ulsterDistillery,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. I am sorry that the Sol Don Hotels complex is not for you and that you did not like eating in the Casares dining room.
For information of other travellers; the WiFi is free in the bars of the 3 hotels in the complex. A high-speed connection can be purchased at a reasonable cost which allows navigation in all areas of the hotel.
Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

“Great New Year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Stayed in the Don Pablo over New Year, we have stayed here before but not for about 4 years and were pleased to see that the hotel had been updated. The indoor pool had been tiled and the toilets renewed and the indoor pool also had a heater in which made it a lot more pleasant. There are currently works in the Don Pablo restaurant so we ate in the Don Pedro, but the food was really enjoyable with lots of choice,
The New Years Eve Gala Dinner was lovely although we shall probably opt out if we go again next year because we have young children and the fine dining menu was probably not for them, the waitress was absolutely super and went and got the children breaded chicken and chips and tomato sauce which went down really well.
We even got my daughters dog returned which had been sent to the laundry with the sheets, although she got to spend an extra week in Spain more than we did!

Room Tip: you can pay a small supplement to have a room which is on the sunny side, may be hot in summer but s...

Thanks for your feedback. We are so happy that you enjoyed your New Years' Eve with us. As you mentioned; the Cordoba dining room was closed over the holidays as we have been installing a brand-new kitchen. It has turned out wonderfully and it will definitely help us to impriove customer satisfaction in the restaurant even more.
I am glad that the dog made it home - it probably had some stories to tell about its adventure!
Please come and visit again soon.

“Great week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Just had a week in Don Pablo. The hotel and the room was absolutely spotless. All the staff were cheerful and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day and towels changed on request.
There was some work being carried out in the restaurant so we had to eat in the adjoining Sol Don Pedro. There was plenty of choice and the quality good.
Because Don Pablo is one of three adjoining hotels of the same group you could use the facilities in any of the three, which included the Sol Don Marco. All are inter -connected so if by some bad luck it rains, you won't get wet.
Will be going back.
We booked with Monarch. Flight on time. We also booked a transfer from the airport with Monarch-the taxi was waiting for us and we were in the hotel in 15 mins. Same taxi picket us up from the hotel-again spot on service.
The only down side, very little leg room for a 6' man on the plane. Apart from that-great hotel, flight and transfers.
Will return.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms are on the sunny side. Evens are on the scenic.
