“This was our 12th visit since 2002”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We returned from this hotel on 15 August 2012 .It was our 12th holiday here since 2002. If it is possible I would say that the standard improves for the better for each visit. The food which perhaps does not satisfy everyone being served buffet style is outstanding. The choices of meats and fish I would say make it unnecessary for guests to eat out as is the case sometimes. The prices of beers, wines and soft drinks in the bars and dining room are not excessive and there is plenty of choices. The staff in all areas are very welcoming and polite. The bedrooms are kept immaculate by the maids with bed linen changed almost on a daily basis. The location of this hotel presents an ideal situation for families with immaculate.clean and safe pools with lifeguards. Security is enhanced by patrols at the gates and grounds. We shall be returning next year.

Thank you for your review pops722. It is great to hear that you keep coming back. I hope that we are able to keep improving for each visit. Actually, the new show cooking buffet for next year will be amazing, so make sure you come back for the 13th (lucky for some) visit!
Just a note about the room cleaning: We change the sheets every 3 days unless otherwise requested. The towels are changed when you decide - by leaving them on the floor.
We look forward to seeing you again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We visited the Don Pablo on 13 Jul 2012 for 2 weeks with our two children age 9&2. It was fantastic from start to finish. We had booked half board with little intention of eating in the hotel every night. However, the food was great so we only ate out on 2 ocassions (and this was simply for a change of scenery). The kids loved breakfast each day as the chefs made fresh pancakes and omelettes made to order too - we had no bother getting our kids to eat. The staff at the hotel could not have been nicer with the entertainment being thouroughly enjoyable. The location of the hotel was great - directly opposite the beach. This suited us as we did not have to take our little girl in her buggy to the beach as it was so close - this made it so much easier as she could just walk. There were plenty of pools in the hotel and getting a lounger and parasol was never a problem - there was plenty for everyone. You could also get beach towels from the towel hut. This required a 20 euro deposit (for 2 towels) but you got it back at the end of the holiday when you returned the towels. Next time i go i won't bother taking my own towels and save some weight in my case!
Couldn't really fault the Don Pablo other than the room - we had 4 in our room and the beds were all side by side from one wall to the next. This was fine this time for us due to the ages of the kids but if they were older i don't think they'd be too keen lying with their parents every night. Next time i would want a different type of room to give us all a bit more space. I sent an e mail to the hotel prior to arriving asking for a room with a bath/over bath shower and also a pool view - when we arrived this is exactly what we got so they certainly were accomodating. The rooms were cleaned every day which was great.
All in all a great holiday and we'll definitely be going back again.

Thank you Rosemary_H122. I am so glad that everything worked well for you.
In the Don Pablo we have family rooms which are on the 9th floor. They have no balcony and therefore the room is bigger. It is still only one room however. Other options are to take 2 adjoining rooms, also on the 9th floor, or to try a family room in the Don Pedro next door. This comprises a double room for the parents, 2 bathrooms and a smaller room for the children. There is a small supplement for the extra room. All the grounds are the same as the Don Pablo with the same gardens, 9 pools and entertainment programme.
We look forward to your next holidays with us.

I, along with my mum and my 2 year old son, stayed for a week at the don pablo in august 2012. Before travelling both myself and my mum were very dubious about holidaying in spain as we have always gone to greece/malta/cyprus, we were aiming for a nice hotel with a short flight, what we got was a fantastic holiday, one that we can not find one fault with and are planning on returning to next year.

the hotel is lovely, quick check in, clean, well designed, spacious rooms, that are cleaned everyday with beds being changed and clean towels daily, we had a side sea view on the 8th floor to get sun on the balcony in an afternoon and evening and the upper floors have baths and showers, lower floors have just showers, plenty of choice for breakfast, i had somehting different everyday, dinner was a good variety and plenty on offer for all tastes, dining room was very clean, staff were efficent and helpful, pools are clean, plenty of sun beds and brollies, one brollie for every 2 beds, we arrived at the pool around 10.30am and always managed to get 3 beds, didn't need to put towels out at 6am!

torremolinos is busy in august, but not overly, its not busy like maguluf or benidorm, its not on that scale, its mor family based and a lot of spanish holiday there, the lift up to the old town or the cobbled stepped streets up are a must and the old town is just quaint and adorable with lots of different style shops, restaurants and bars, the beach is clean and well supplied with sun beds though very hot in august, we personally preferred the pool area due to needing shade for my 2 year old.

all in all i was very pleasantly surprised with not only the hotel but also the resort. we loved this holiday. especially the short flight, we will be returning next year as it was everything we wanted, plus more and suited each of us as a 3 generation family.

Room Tip: upper floors have a bath and a shower, lower rooms have only showers, rooms over the pools are noisy...

It is always nice to have a convert to Torremolinos ELP79. A lot of people are still expecting something form Monty Python and are delighted to find an authentic spanish town where spaniards as well as other nationalities go on holiday and with a very comfortable family feel.
I am very glad that the hotel fit the bill too and that the staff impressed. We look forward to having the three generations back soon. Thank you for your review-

Just arrived back and had the most amazing time. All staff so helpful from checking in to restaurant staff and ladies that cleaned the room. Food catered for everyone. Activies if you want them for every age group. We met some lovely people and 3 familes were returning for the umpteenth year. Location was super too. Great all round. Will definately be going back!

The quality of everything from cleanliness to entertainment sets a standard for others to follow.Lovely rooms and public areas. We stayed for two weeks in June/July and intend to return as soon as possible. The friendly staff from cleaners to the most senior manager make you feel welcome. If you want traditional Spanish hospitality and atmosphere, this is the place!

I stayed here with a friend from July 2nd to 9th, 2012.

Location: Great – opposite a very clean beach el Bajondillo, with many bars/cafes, e.g. food being barbequed, tapas and Burger King. Next to an entertainment centre with pool tables, crazy golf, air hockey, basketball games etc, 15mins walk uphill to the actual town centre with the main shops, restaurants and bars –there is also a lift up to the top which was 50 cents per person
.
Hotel food and bar: Drinks by pool very expensive as expected. We walked to a supermarket nearby and brought our drinks back in. Breakfast – buffet, food mostly very good, some items do get cold sat there. A chef cooks pancakes, omelettes, fried eggs at the counter. Plenty of non cooked items too, incl donuts, fruit and cereal. Free use of fruit juice and tea/coffee machines. There is definitely something there for everyone.

Hotel Ameneties: Many pools (some we had to ourselves), as you can use the others in the complex, and at least 2 jacuzzis. People did reserve sunbeds early, but small groups should find some somewhere at all times of the day, though finding a sunshade is harder. Always very clean, and some have lifeguards & allow inflatables. Free table tennis, tennis and bowls. Reps do activities, e.g. shooting, water polo and aqua aerobics. Free wifi in lobby, not in bedrooms. Entertainment was good the night we saw, and we couldn’t hear it the other nights from our room so you should sleep well.

Room: Cleaned thoroughly every day, flatscreen TV with BBC1, BBC news and channel 4, asked for a room with a walk in shower as these have been recently renovated… the bathroom was amazing (huge shower, everything new).

Overall I would recommend this place to anyone, it was definitely a 4* hotel across the board, with aspects of 5* thrown in and no nasty surprises.

Room Tip: Rooms with a walk in shower have been recently renovated.

I am so glad that you really enjoyed the hotel and the Sol Don Hotels complex. I see that you managed to get around to the other areas around the gardens and found the various pools and sunbathing areas.
We hope to see you again. Thank you for your review.

Stayed at the hotel on the 1st august to the 6th August for a weeks holiday with my little boy of 9. What can I say - it was great!!!! Staff on reception were really friendly as were all the staff from the waiters/ess's to the entertainment crew to the housekeepers.
Entertainment was great especially on the evening. Something for everyone to the entertainment during the day. My only negative was that they did use the childrens pool for the aqua earobics and the water volley ball so the children had two everyday where they could not use the pool. This was a pain to start with but my little boy got used to it - so I'd prewarn children before you go.
The rooms were fine, small empty fridge in room was great so could stock up on water and drinks.
Food for the adults was great, lots of choices. However for the younger guests, after a few nights my little boy got fed up with the pizza and chips or pasta (it would have been nice to see perhaps more child friendly meals) saying that there is a Burger King two mins away.
The area itself around the hotel was very safe for children especiaaly when they make friends as my son did and they wanted to go off for a walk.
The Old Town was lovely - well worth a visit and the shops, cafes and bars near the hotel were great too.
As soon as we got home my little boy asked to go back again next year which was lovely as he did not say that about last years holiday so must have been good as he's quite hard to please at times. Whether your going as a family or on your own this is a great hotel and location and it is only 15 mins from the airport so you know you haven't got that 2hour coach journey like you get on some holidays.
Will I be back - most definatly - will be back next year!!!!!!! Amanda and Will - Solihull

Room Tip: Just go and enjoy yourself and make your own mind up on what the hotel is like - we did.

We are always glad to have happy guests back. We know we are doing something right!
I'm sorry if the aquagym disturbed at the activities pool. Next time have a look around as there are 9 pools in all and there are other pools for youngsters and adults alike. Perhaps your son would even like to join in the Mini Club. Not all kids want to, but all those that go seem to want to go back! They make friends of all nationalities and the monitors are very caring and great fun.
We look forward to your next visit. Thank you.
