The Molina De Inca tropical garden can be difficult to find, but it is definately worth the effort, it is on the very outskirts of Torremolinos by the motorway. We took a taxi from the sea front in Torremolinos, it cost 7 Euros, and to get back I would suggest you ask the taxi driver to come back in 2 hours, or maybe the chap in the pay kiosk would phone for one for you. We have visited twice since and now we know where it is, we walk from the centre of the town in about 15 minutes.
The garden is open every day except Monday, from 10.30 until 2.00 and 4.00 until 6.00. The entrance charge is 1 Euro.
The garden has been created on the site of a 15th century water mill which has been converted into an interesting museum about milling and water power with lots of working models.
The garden includes named palm trees from all over the world, flowering plants, fountains, waterfalls, many water features, two buildings which contain the original spring water supply and behind one of these is a Japanese garden which is easily missed, many caged birds and clean toilets.
It is a peaceful oasis (motorway excepted) where you can spend a couple of hours just ambling round and sitting listening to the birds and the running water which is everywhere.
On our most recent visit, 17th November 2012 many of the water features were out of action due to damage by the rain storms of the previous weekend. The torrential rain had washed mud into the systems so the pumps had been turned off. Hopefully they will have things back to normal soon, so future visitors can enjoy this garden at its best.
