This small hotel has a traditional Spanish feel and attracts guests from many nations. It was excellent value. What stood out for us was the friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Location: set back from the main road. Bus stop just outside with routes to the airport, Torremolinos, Malaga, Fuengirola and all of the beaches inbetween. 5 minute gentle walk downhill to lovely beaches with shops, bars and cafes (then turn right and walk along to Benalmedina which is a beautiful sheltered port/beach area). Supermarket and petrol station close by. Short but steep uphill walk to a lovely park with great views - would be lovely for children in summer. Uphill is also a train station. Overall, a great base from which to explore.
Room: We had a 3rd floor room with balcony. Simple decor, very clean with a great bed. Good bathroom with shower and lashings of hot water for a bath. TV. Mini fridge and safe for hire. If you like to make yourself a cuppa, you'll need to bring your own kettle! Also you might like a reading lamp as room has only one light. We didn't have any problems with excess noise but we were staying at a quiet time of year.
Hotel Facilities: Bar, lounge area, small pool/garden with loungers. Wi-fi is good in lounge/bar, poor in our room. We occasionally ordered hot drinks downstairs, very reasonably priced and staff happy to help. Parking in front of hotel.
Food: We went half board. This was the only disappointing part of our stay. Narrow selection of often processed home-style food eg meatballs, burgers, spanish omlette. No deserts apart from apples and yoghurt. Food was sometimes cold but could be heated in the microwave. Breakfast was better. Water and wine served with evening meal which is a nice touch, I asked for a hot drink which they were happy to make for me. I would say that if food is important to you or if you have children, it may be better if you go B&B and eat out.
We can forgive the food because the staff of this family business are so nice and committed to doing all they can for their guests. The value was amazing and if we return to the area we will choose the Arcos again.
Front rooms have lovely sunny balconies.
