First of all I would like to say, that I have to disagree with the previous reviewer from Boston! This is probably the most stylish
Small Boutique Hotel at the Costa, if not in the whole of Andalucia!
I stayed with my parents(both mid 70s Travellers) at Hotel Claude for 6 nights beginning of June. We live in Madrid and visit Marbella a couple of times a year and we actually enjoyed all of the rooms we stayed in! All rooms had modern "open plan bathrooms/showerrooms" with the toilet door made out of frosted glass! Obviously if one is used to small boxed bathrooms, this is different (Beautiful Bathrooms from Fired Earth, single pieces out of stone from TINO, pure luxury)
We normally stay at the Marbella Club or the Puente Romano! This time we decided to try out this new little Boutique Hotel, which was recommended by some of our friends in back in Madrid!
We have been coming to Marbella since the 70s, when "El Casco Antiguo (Old Town)" with its restaurant "La Fonda" and the Flamenco Bar "Ana Maria" (opposite Hotel Claude), were the centre of the Marbella nightlife!
After our 6 day stay, I was probably the most relaxed, I have ever been at the end of a Marbella trip! We only had to share the hotel with 2 more couples during our stay! I call this a luxury, especially when you have a Michelin Star chef cooking for you at all times!
We had booked the Savannah and the Moroccan rooms ( both beautiful large rooms) because they are interconnected via a little balcony! But due to the fact that the hotel was not fully booked during our stay, Desiree (the owners' sister) did upgrade us into the Contemporanea and the Suite Francesa!
The food in "le bijou" resataurant was superb! Desiree and her staff were absolutely brilliant and the decor in the whole house and the rooms was stunning! The perfect mix between old and new! Attention to detail in the whole house!
The hotel with its casual ambience, almost felt like our own at the end of our stay! A perfect retreat if you like a hotel with "soul" and very personal attention! something that a lot of larger hotels miss out on these days!
I can only congratulate the owners for bringing such a beautiful building back to life!
Only recommend Hotel Claude to your best friends!
