“Best Boutique Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2009

We have just come back from a 5 day holiday to Marbella and I have to admit that this was the best ever hotel experience!

Hotel Claude is the most fabulous place we have stayed for a long time! A small luxury boutique hotel! Full of charm ! Perfect for a relaxing and romantic escape!

The service was impeccable (5 star deluxe)! Best DVD collection I have come across! Marbella when it rains is actually not a nice place! But you actually do not want to leave the room!!

A real jewel
We shall be back pronto

We have just got back from truly wonderful week in this beautiful gem of a hotel. Hidden away in one of the cobbled streets in the old town of Marbella, we could not fault it. This small hotel has just seven rooms, each one different. We stayed in the Marroqui room which shares a small balcony with another room. The room was beautifully decorated. Every morning we had lunch on the small but lovely roof terrace, enjoying the sunshine, and on our last night ate at the hotel's restaurant.

The service was impeccable and very friendly and they could not do enough to help us and make us feel welcome.

The hotel's situation in the old town was fantastic, with an array of great little restaurants and bars - we did not have a bad meal while we were there. The 15 minute stroll down to the beach is a delight as you wind your way past all the cafes and shops.

This hotel is great for a romantic getaway, whether for a long weekend or a week or so. We will definitely be going back.

  • Disliked — no bath in the room, just a great power shower

This is an excellent property in Marbella. As a place Marbella did not appeal to me so much............... but just for this hotel I would like to visit this place again & again..........staff is very friendly.........they really look after you well. They treat you like a family........................Breakfast is excellent,Rooms are very well maintained.........clean & posh.......................it is decorated very tastefully.........for that matter each & every corner of the hotel reveals "THE CLASS" ................value for money...............After staying in HOTEL CLAUDE/MARBELLA ....no other hotel seems to be good any more...............

Last week we stayed a couple of nights at this lovely hotel in the heart of the old town. We always try to stay away from big hotels in tourist districts and Claude with its charming architecture, gorgeous decor and wonderful location was just the ticket for this short trip to Marbella. Our room overlooking the old town rooftops and catching a view of the church spire was beautifully furnished and comfortable. The shower had real power and the flat screen TV was one of those that glow different colours depending on the colour of the picture. We found the staff very warm and friendly and incredibly helpful with local tips and advice. They seemed to have fun among themselves which made us feel we were actually at a family house party! We didn't get to eat at the hotel restaurant - we were in Marbella for a big birthday party - but the first night we came across a Swedish couple who had just had the scallops and could not stop raving about it.

Which makes us think we must go back and try the food too!

And if all that wasn't enough practically on the doorstep in Plaza de Santo Cristo is Ana Maria's Flamenco cafe. Go there for a heart stopping late night performance that will take your breath away. The night we went the owner was about to become a grandmother so there was suspense in the air as well music.

First of all I would like to say, that I have to disagree with the previous reviewer from Boston! This is probably the most stylish
Small Boutique Hotel at the Costa, if not in the whole of Andalucia!
I stayed with my parents(both mid 70s Travellers) at Hotel Claude for 6 nights beginning of June. We live in Madrid and visit Marbella a couple of times a year and we actually enjoyed all of the rooms we stayed in! All rooms had modern "open plan bathrooms/showerrooms" with the toilet door made out of frosted glass! Obviously if one is used to small boxed bathrooms, this is different (Beautiful Bathrooms from Fired Earth, single pieces out of stone from TINO, pure luxury)

We normally stay at the Marbella Club or the Puente Romano! This time we decided to try out this new little Boutique Hotel, which was recommended by some of our friends in back in Madrid!
We have been coming to Marbella since the 70s, when "El Casco Antiguo (Old Town)" with its restaurant "La Fonda" and the Flamenco Bar "Ana Maria" (opposite Hotel Claude), were the centre of the Marbella nightlife!
After our 6 day stay, I was probably the most relaxed, I have ever been at the end of a Marbella trip! We only had to share the hotel with 2 more couples during our stay! I call this a luxury, especially when you have a Michelin Star chef cooking for you at all times!
We had booked the Savannah and the Moroccan rooms ( both beautiful large rooms) because they are interconnected via a little balcony! But due to the fact that the hotel was not fully booked during our stay, Desiree (the owners' sister) did upgrade us into the Contemporanea and the Suite Francesa!
The food in "le bijou" resataurant was superb! Desiree and her staff were absolutely brilliant and the decor in the whole house and the rooms was stunning! The perfect mix between old and new! Attention to detail in the whole house!
The hotel with its casual ambience, almost felt like our own at the end of our stay! A perfect retreat if you like a hotel with "soul" and very personal attention! something that a lot of larger hotels miss out on these days!

I can only congratulate the owners for bringing such a beautiful building back to life!
Only recommend Hotel Claude to your best friends!

While the pictures of Hotel Claude in Marbella look trendy, the guest rooms are terribly small and crowded. The toilet in our room - which was one of the more expensive rooms - was actually in the bedroom separated from the bed area by a thin glass door. There was no bathroom.

Needless to say, the aromas from the bathroom can make for an unromantic stay for couples - and could be very unpleasant for friends. Also, the A/C (air-conditioner) did not work well. Marbella is wonderful but it's hard to recommend this hotel when there are so many others that are nicer and more spacious in the same price range.

I am not surprised about your review as you did not like us not giving you the room for free. You insisted in getting a much bigger discount than you already received and as we are a very small operation I was not able to offer it to you, you were very upset. We provided some extras like the bottle of champagne but this was obiously not to your liking.
I understand you being upset with us because I asked you not to have your feet on the table in reception and clip your toenails as other guests were using that table for having their coffees or drinks and I didn´t appreciate you doing this sort of thing in our public areas as it is very unhygienic. I kindly asked you to take your feet off and do this "business" in your room or the toilets that are situated on our ground floor which triggered you leaving the hotel earlier than planned and which ultimately led to you not appreciating our little hotel.
It is true that you had a smaller room than some of your family members but the rooms were distributed according to the request of your other family members.
I am sorry it was not satisfactory enough and please understand that we can not let people stay for free if they are from the travel industry. I don´t think you would give away airplane tickets for free or have people book their travels with your agency without paying...

Fantastic Small Boutique Hotel in Marbella's vibrant Old Town, far away from the party crowds!
Timeless Designer Chic in a 17th century building! Rooms fitted with aircon, flatscreens, i-pod sounddocks, Molton Brown etc etc.
A must for all Gourmet Travellers is the 7 table restaurant "le bijou"!
Top cuisine at affordable prices and beautiful wines (ask for the Gallician housewines)!

An absolute gem, in a very tranquil location! Very relaxing and calm!
I loved every moment!
