“Nice hotel & good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

This hotel is just out the way of all the busy, noisy part of Banus but close enough to walk down the boardwalk to and right on the beach. Nice rooms, well kept, modern, nice balconies. Roof terrace if you pay a bit extra. The pool doesn't get the sun all day so make the most. Good range of food at breakfast.

We booked three nights four days and have just returned back from the most relaxing break ive ever had...

We booked our transfer prior to hol although tbh it wasnt busy at airport so could have got a taxi easily. First impression of hotel was nice. We arrived to our room... view opposite the pool and sea front ground floor and was lovely... bed huge!!!! Very clean and decoration was nice... not like previous reviews... unfortunately the walls are a little thin and we kept hearing the couple next door rowing after reporting to reception three times they called in security but it was a british young couple who had no respect of being in a 5* hotel... the hotel was amazing and instantly upgraded our room free of charge for remainder of visit... and the junior room was massive... kitchen... including dishwasher! !! Two tvs... sofas... huge balcony... couldnt fault the service.

Breakfast had a variety .... typical english breakfast. .. fresh fruit... cereal... bakery items... tea coffee and champagne! !!! Fresh cooked eggs on request. ...

Walk into the marina was spectacular. ... lovely restaurants...

Had a massage on beach ... a must

Only downside the pool was quite cold and although it was 24-26ºc everyday in october the pool could have done with being heated...

We are deffo booking again...

I stayed at this hotel twice in October and i have some feedback for other travellers:
First the good points - its great location in a nice quiet area, perfect for the beach which is right next to the hotel. The walk to Banus is only 15 minutes along the sea front and is a lovely walk. The restaurants on the terrace i think are really good, friendly quick and good service. Basically everything in one place is great.
Not so good points - the hotel gym is the size of a "shoebox" why do hotels have gyms that are ridiculously small, there are people that like a good workout! - put some music or TV in there at least to make it more interesting!. i saw one other review about the swimming pool beds and agree they are so uncomfortable and you "slide" on them - please put some cushions on them if you want to be called a 5* hotel. The standard double rooms very small and why is it that the maids in hotels have to make so much noise early in the morning i am sure to try and encourage you to leave your room early - well it works of course. The Tv in the rooms is old fashioned needs to be changed why not put some nice plasma TV? The breakfast is not the best experience there are far too many people having to wait for an egg to be prepared its like queing for school dinners .Overall is good hotel and i would stay again.

I have stayed here several times before and once again a great holiday, stayed in a Banus Suite which to me has the best views from a floor to ceiling window in the lounge and bedroom, its lovely waking to the sound of the waves lapping the sand, the best alarm, as i have said before great breakfast all the usual cooked, cold meats and cheese, pastries breads and a very busy egg counter, this hotel has its own section of the beach with a bar and snacks served to you on your sun lounger so you dont even have to move, a special mention to the guy serving from the beach bar he came round often to take orders and was very nice.

The hotel has made a few changes from last year including a sports bar that has football games on this keeps my son and husband happy when their team are playing, also a new champagne bar just off the beach.

Room Tip: Go for a suite for a better sea view

The hotel room was beautiful. I was very elegantly decorated, had a kitchenette with microwave, coffee-maker, mugs etc. I got a Junior Suite with nice views and a hot tub on the upper terrace. The hotel was quiet and the staff were friendly. Sadly it was not a leisure trip, and i didn't get the opportunity to explore the hotel facilities or the beach, but i did use the hot tub. All in all though, i will stay at the Guadalpin Banus again.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights during October, the hotel was quite quiet. We were shown our room which was very small approx. 8 m x 5 m. There was little room to move about around the bed. The TV did not work properly and there was a flickering light in the bathroom which was attended to quite quickly. However our bed was as twin rather that the double we ordered and we asked on 4 occasions for it to be made into a double. Eventually we had to be quite stern to get this issue sorted out. The bathroom was clean but again very small. The room itself was a little bit tired but clean and fresh. There was a small terrace areas looking out to sea and over the pool. The pool area was very nice and had attentive staff but again the hotel was very quite so there was hardly anyone else around the pool. They hotel is right on the beach which was lovely and a nice 10/15 min walk into the port along the promenade. The buffet breakfast was great with lots of choice of cereal fruit eggs full English muffins hams cheeses etc. This was a nice hotel but I would not want to stay in the height of summer when it was busy or stay for longer than a couple of days as the room would become very claustrophobic for me.

Room Tip: If you like a little space in your hotel room then book one of the larger rooms.

This was our second visit to the Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus after a two year gap, we'd booked via a booking.com through the Tripadvisor website and maybe this is why the suite we were allocated probably wasn't their best. We booked a suite with a rooftop terrace and hot tub and we were really pleased with the space it gave us, but it was all a bit 'tired' with lots of things broken and chipped - in the room and in the communal areas.

When we first arrived the lock on one of the patio doors wouldn't close so we couldn't leave the room until a maintenance man had come and fixed it, over an hour and two calls to reception later. The pool was lovely but I couldn't believe we had to pay extra to use one of the day beds - £110 Euros, although this invluded a bottle of champagne and 'Fruit' Kebab service (whatever that is).

The outside space was large but there was quit a lot of weeds growing up through the terrace and the view contained parts of the building that could use a coat of paint. All the outside cushions were marked, every one - I wonder whether they moved all the dirty ones from other rooms into this one?

Room Tip: I think the suites with a direct pool view are probably the best.
