Recently got back from a 10 night half-board stay at the Marbella Playa Hotel. Very disappointed and sorry to see the really bad reviews this hotel has got as it is most definitely not what the bad reviews are stating!
When we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly, good English-speaking members of staff, who directed us to our hotel room. The room was absolutely fine, considering you don't spend much time in there anyway just to sleep! Had two huge double beds next to each other and a bath in the bathroom which was a bonus! The doors in the bungalows are not unsecure at all, no one can get in them if they are closed properly. The cleaners were wonderful and every day came in and changed the bedding and gave us fresh towels.
The food was so impressive! We were half-board so had breakfast included, but then had the option of choosing lunch or dinner. We went for dinner everytime as there was so much choice and there was literally no point in eating out as the quality is what you would get at a restaurant anyway. The breakfast was lovely, so many hot and cold foods to choose from. Regarding dinner, there are chefs there cooking whatever is available that night to your liking.
The pool is really lovely, although the time we went it does get quite busy.. and be warned that a lot of people get up early to put their towels on the sunbeds so a majority of the time we got there early there were no beds for us left so we just ended up going to the beach. There is a slide and a kids pool too and a lot of childrens entertainment, so this hotel is definitely recommended for families!
The beach is nice too. There are lots of African men on the beach though selling random things, so just shake your head at them and tell them no, if they are getting persistent because it does get quite annoying when you're trying to relax.
There's a bus service at the end of the road of the hotel, which takes you to Marbella or you can go the other way to Fuengirola to their bus station, where you can go on various trips from there :) like the Aquapark etc. The buses are extremely cheap too!
Overall, a very relaxing enjoyable holiday, would definitely reccommend!
