“Lovely resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We were very impressed by the standard of our apartment- very spacious and clean with a lovely balcony- there are several pools and lots to do for children( playgrounds, kids pools , basketball court)
A beautiful, clean and well appointed complex- we would definitely return! Only downside is the parking ( underground ) which is a bit tight to manouver in!! And the on site dining places are lovely but a little pricey....we dined out a few times as there are other choices locally. But overall a FAB resort!!

Spectacular views! Request a higher room, if possible, but you won't be disappointed with a lower room. The resort is well appointed, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, and our suite/apartment was very clean and comfortable. The staff will provide details about excursion options (we highly recommend going to Ronda and Granada, and we recommend a private tour led by Indiana Natura's Francesco (aka "Frank") -- he's awesome! The Marriott concierge will book the excursion for you in advance. Frank was not only very knowledgeable, but he made us feel like "family."

Room Tip: HIgher room offers better views, but we were on the go so much that we really didn't sit on our...

I visited the Marriott Marbella Beach Resort with a small group of friends on a hen do. On arrival, we were told that the beach resort was operating on winter hours and that none of the bars or restaurants were open past 11.30pm. We decided to have a few drinks in the bar before heading back to our apartment to eat some supper. Whilst chatting and laughing we received simultaneous phone calls and knocks on the door from staff telling us that we were too loud. To be clear, we had been talking and laughing - but there was no loud music and there were only 8 of us, separated from any other guests by 2 bedrooms. The staff at the door were extremely aggressive towards us, as a group of girls, threatening to break the door down and have us escorted off the property by police in handcuffs. Given the occasion and the level of noise that we were making, their attitude was extremely disappointing and I would not be comfortable staying here in the future.

Loved this place. Went with our 2year old daughter and loved every minute of it. Great place to stay and relax but keep entertained. Only two issues that I think they need to address. No porter to assist with bags at night when we arrived. Did not feel five star to have to push all bags to room in trolley. They need more choice of restaurants.

Will return

Had a week booked in this hotel and found it thoroughly enjoyable. Excellent location and facilities. Next to beach and had a lovely indoor pool and well equipped gym. Beautiful gardens and well stocked supermarket. Would highly recommend the restaurant.

Trip Adivisor and visitors inputs made our trip in May a positive experience. Thank you! Hope my added input will do the same for future guests.
The driving directions from Malaga Airport to resort, pulled from Marriott Marbella’s website, are accurate. Did not get lost - unlike our (laughable) experience at the airport getting the rental car! Word of caution – Hang onto your flight ticket to Malaga! If you exit secured area before getting your rental car keys, you will need it to return to rental car counter - which is in secured area and can only re-enter with proof of arrival flight.
Marriott Marbella was accommodating, comfortable and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Concierge booked six tickets on one day notice to Alhambra, as booking usually must be done far in advance. At the concierge counter, you will find cards - with directions to and from key traveling spots - already made. Great convenience! And directions accurate! Housekeeping and technician arrived within five minutes when we requested special services. Oh yes, request your bath robes! From past experience with time shares, light cleaning, making of bed and towel replacement are done only once during mid-week of stay. At Marbella, they are done daily. Many activities available at Marriott, but did not attend to any, as this was our first trip to Spain.
At Marbella, pool towels are given in unit, no pool house to exchange. Daily maid service does not change the pool towels as it does with room towels. I believe pool towels can be changed if you call housekeeping.
My only disappointment is how cold the spa water was. I read that Spain regulates the water temperature. Brrr! Thank goodness for the bathtub with jets in the unit – just set the hot water, add the bath gel provided in the unit and then indulge into the hot bubbly spa treatment. :-)
Caution - the gate to the beach does not operate after 11:30pm. Cannot go in or out! If you are locked out, you can call Marriott to open gate if you have a phone, otherwise you will have to walk around to the main entrance. The beach is public and dark. Plan outing and return accordingly! My daughters were next door at Don Carlos and were locked out. Fortunately another guest was there with a phone.
Supermarket near Marriott. Supersol. At shopping center, 5 minutes drive, other side of A7 overpass to the left of round about.
Restaurants worth visiting near Marriott. El Barracon De Las Tapas - at same shopping center as Supersol. Merendero Cristina – on beach to left from Marriott, short walk – get 5% discount with the Marriott VIP card. Aroma Café/Secret Garden – in Mijas, 30 minutes away.
During the seven day stay, we traveled to Gibraltar, Ronda, Purerto Banus, Old Town Marbella, Alhambra in Granada and Mijas. Marriott is well situated for all destinations.
