I highly recommend this property. A family member is a club owner who offered us their timeshare, but if we ever go back to Marbella, we'd pay to stay there. We stayed here the 2nd week of Dec. The apartment was fantastic. We had a 2 bedroom apartment, very spacious and perfect for a family with 2 young kids. We were on the ground floor, so we didn't have a view. Only heard our neighbors a couple times the entire time. The only real noise issue was the water pipes. As some other reviewers have commented, they were loud. Again, not a bid issue. One other word of caution if you like quiet, in between some of the buildings, they have some activity spaces. We like quiet so fortunately, we weren't near of those.
The resort amenities were great. The indoor heated family pool was comfortably warm. The adult only pool wasn't as warm but was comfortable. The sauna and steam were great and hot like they should be. The family jacuzzis were warm, not to hot, so they were safe for the kids. The adult jacuzzi was cold. The gym was well equipped with treadmills, bikes, weight machines. The beach area was very nice. Good sand, clear water. We were fortunate to have 3 days where it reached the low 60's. Warm enough for the kids to play in the sand in their swim suits and for us to get some sun. There were plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas but I suspect they go fast during the peak season. The main outdoor pool was closed but seemed very nice with plenty of chairs and umbrellas even if the resort was full. If you like to jog, the beach is runnable for miles during low tide. In high tide, the water goes up to rocks in the some places which can be problem if you don't want to get wet. There's a nice suburban neighbor to the east and up the hill from the resort if you want to jog outside and can't jog the beach.
The kids club was great. The staff was excellent with the kids. It's open from 10-5 during the regular season. Unfortunately for us it was off season and they were only open from 10-1 and 3-5. Was still nice, though, to have a place to leave the kids that they actually wanted to go to. They also had 2 small play grounds for the kids and tot lot. The kids loved the play grounds. They are right by the beach and pools, so parents can still get some sun and relax while the kids play.
The overall location of the resort was great for sight seeing if you don't mind driving. Traffic was never a problem. Only had a little bit in Granada. Not sure if it's as easy to drive in the summer. We went to Granada to see the Alhambra and Gibraltar, both were around a 2 hour drive and well worth it. We also went to Ronda, a nice town up in the mountains. It was a little over an hour away. The mountain road was well maintained but very curvy. If you're prone to motion sickness, take medication before you go. Otherwise, Ronda is well worth it for the gorge through the center of town, the views from the walls of the valley below, and the oldest bullring in Spain.
I can't comment on the restaurants. The only one open was Charlie's, a sports bar & restaurant with Pizza, Burgers, and Tex-Mex. We didn't eat there. We ate most of our meals in the apartment or on picnics. There is a Supersol supermarket and an Opencor (like a minimart/drug store) about a mile away. Prices were better at Supersol. The prices at the Hipercor closer to Marbella were pretty good as well, but it's about a 10 min drive.
